13 years and never a problem with our SKY-3301P until today. It's been working so well for so long that we forgot how we set it up when new. Your refresher on the Learn Function fixed it. Thank you!

A well presented description. It got me on the correct tract. My remote box which is in the wall would not reset so I took it out and there were batteries in the box. Changed and wala. Thanks for getting me on track for a simple correction.

I have a model 1001tha skytech remote dated 8/2017 i purchased with fireplace logs in 2018. I have followed your reset video accurately, putting in new batteries, but with no luck. I can't hear the remote unit chirp but still followed the procedure just in case it was too faint to hear. All connections appear to be solid. what's next?

You may also want to try replacing the batteries in the remote receiver, if it's the type that is battery powered. Worked for me.

Great Video! Some additional pointers - best to change both sets of batteries, in the control box and remote, at the same time. Also, the control box requires that the wires be disconnected to change the batteries. My wires were not colored black and red, but rather the same color so be sure before you remove them you mark them to which terminal they belong to or the control box will not work. When I connected them back on, I put them on the wrong terminals and the control box would not work so I switched them and then they worked but it took this extra step to figure it out. Thanks for this video this was helpful!

Like several others, I wasn't aware that there were batteries in the receiver box (in addition to the ones in the remote). I changed those but it still didn't work. Also like other commenters, I was not getting a chirping sound when trying to use the learn function - it seemed like it wasn't working at all. The next thing I did was to remove the new batteries from the box and I could see some dried battery acid on the terminals from the old batteries which had corroded a bit. I cleaned the terminals using a cloth and straight vinegar. I put the batteries back in, pressed "on" and voila the remote start worked. Still don't know if the learn function is now working as I didn't need it.

I have a Monessen DFX vent-free gas fireplace system with battery remote. The problem is that the Skytech 1001 transmitter will turn the fireplace on with no problem. But, when I hit the off button on the Skytech 1001 transmitter, the fireplace won't shut down. I have to manually open up the control access door to shut down the unit. Replaced batteries in both the transmitter and receiver. Checked wiring - all good. Do I need a new transmitter. Bought my fireplace in 2003.

I have a 10 year old Smart-Batt II remote and receiver. The remote stopped turning off the flame. The receiver manual controls work to turn flame on and off. I replaced batteries in both units and attempted to sync. However, the learn button does not beep when in remote position (or any other position). I removed batteries and cleaned contacts. No change. Is there a fix for the learn button? Must it always beep to be working effectively? If the only solution is a new remote and or receiver can it be an updated model or must it be the Smart-Batt-II like for like replacement?

Thank you! We did have to do all these things to get it to work and it still didn't work! And then I found an "on/off" switch on the back of our stove (Napoleon GDS50) which I remembered had to be set to "off" in order for the remote/receiver to work. Once that was switched off, we followed this video and now we have fire again via remote :)

In my receiver box there are 2 d cell batteries you can see so when I swapped those out I assumed the unit was powered since the unit went on when I manually moved the switch to on. What I did not realize was there were an additional 4 aa batteries that need to be changed on the bottom of the actual receiver box. Once I figured that out it works like a charm. Thanks!!!

    • @Firepitsdirect
      @Firepitsdirect 6 лет назад

If you haven't tried hard resetting the remote, please hold down the learn button for 10-15 seconds until you hear 3 audible beeps. Then lift off and depress the learn button one more time and then on or any button on your transmitter remote. If your unit is over 5 years old it would no longer be covered under warranty but if it isn't it may be eligible for warranty replacement. We sell remotes and receivers separately as well as kits if you are interested in purchasing a new. www.fireplaceremotecontrols.com

Thank you so much for your response. Yes, we've tried all this. And we can hear the beeps, but the remote isn't activating the flames. We think a guy that was here to check on the fireplace must have loosened a connnector? I don't know. But this is extremely frustrating. Wood burning is so much easier.

Trouble shooting You tube videos was great however when you hit reset button and it doesn't beep I would suggest dis connecting one wire on receiver box then replace all 4 batteries in receiver box with the switch on remote. Replace remote batteries as well. Reconnect receiver wire .You should hear beeping then hit on button on remote and 😮 fire place should start.

I removed my solenoid and I can hit the "off" button and the rod pops out to close off the gas supply but when I hit the "on" button the rod doesn't retract and will not open up the line. The solenoid stays magnetized on the inside so I can manually push the rod in and it stays in until I push the "off" button again and it pops back out. I have tried new batteries. I just seems like there is not enough strength in the solenoid to pull it back in and open the gas line with the remote. Do I need a new solenoid?

I have this remote and can complete all the steps repeatedly without success. While trying to get it connected I've stumbled on a strange scenario where the remote/receiver has "learned" to stay on in the "REMOTE" setting (so "REMOTE" is functioning exactly the same as the "ON" switch). So in both cases I have to manually turn the fireplace off.
The remote control helped the receiver learn to stay on (while in the "REMOTE" position) so I know the two devices are communicating but the remote won't turn the fireplace on/off (it is doing nothing but sending wrong pairing signals from what I can tell to the receiver).
It has happened multiple times as I try to get it properly reconnected/re-set (new batteries in everything by the way). Has anyone else had this happen and discovered a workaround?

Watched the video and saw that there were batteries in the unit in the fireplace. Who knew?!!? I know it has two wires coming off of it, thought that was how the electricity got to that unit.
Problem solved... at least for now. Who knows, maybe I'll need the next 1:25...

So I changed the batteries on the receiver, there was very little corrosion if any, and put it to remote. When I used the remote to turn it on , it didn't work. I did all he said and I got no beeps at all. So I pushed the learn button in again it went in a little more then all the other times I tried. I got no beeps, but when I clicked on the remote, it worked. Even though the receiver gave me no beeps, it is fine and worked as before. Thank you for the video. It could be that your remote is set to Thermo Mode if it has thermostatic functionality in which its constantly sending/receiving a signal draining batteries. If your remote/receiver is over 5 years old it might be time for a replacement as well as this type of issue usually is remedied by replacing it. If not, I would suggest consulting the business you purchased it from or Skytech has a 5 year manufacturer warranty. Hope this helps!

    I would not recommend SkyTech.
Every season the remote will not pair to the receiver. Yes, I’m doing it correctly- even sent ST a vid and Customer Non-Service rep said I was doing it correctly. I mail it in, get them returned paired up. It’s bizarre. Every season. ST cannot tell me what’s wrong w/ the units that I cannot pair them myself but they come back paired up. “Interference possibly,” rep said. I try to pair them in the fireplace, outside the fireplace, in the kitchen, outdoors. “Interference” my A$$ - SkyLowTech doesn’t know what’s going on (or won’t tell me.) All they say tell me is “I should buy a new one.”

Sad after performing the steps needed the tech support suggested that the battery fluid may have migrated upwards tothe PC board, WHAT. Nuff said, poor support, overpriced replacements, poor product diagnostics and I would not recommend this product.

My sky tech 3301 burns through batters quickly - sometimes just a couple of weeks. What can i do to improve the life of the batteries

I've tried all of these tips. Remote switch is in the Off position. Fresh batteries in both units, and I can hear the tinkle sound when I aim the remote at the black box and hit on. What else can I try? Thanks in advance.
