People need to understand that requirements for junior positions aren't for full competency in the list of skills they request. They want you to at least be familiar but not proficient enough to where they can leave you on your own from day 1 and let you get on with it. From personal experience, most people ask is for you to COMMUNICATE. It's a lacking skill a lot of developers start with that never address it. It's important as a developer to reach out for help...especially as a junior developer because it is to be expected at that level, and good companies offer resources to help you get acquainted with the stack the company uses, and if they don't just ask.
I think that highly depends on the company, most companies arent going to want to pay you a big chunk of salary to have to baby you and hold your hand, they want you to be familar with the stack they're using and be able to not dive in and hit the ground running but atleast be able to know whats going on and not be completely useless to the team.

@@dragonreborn2141 Hey, so I decided to go back to school and study computer science. Although not much coding in it I am still teaching myself on the side with any spare time I get. Still working at my job but I get through it everyday knowing Im working towards something better . Hopefulling soon i can start building projects and finally get a job in tech.
@Dreamz money wise nothing but knowledge wise I can definitly say I have learned alot. Ive taken a longer route which is my computer science degree alongside free courses on youtube and other platforms but I feel alot better knowing im doing something that I know I will be happy with in the future.
Your story is so humbling. You and Mayuko were my inspiration to start coding. I started back in 2019 and I gave up because I felt like I wasn't smart enough. After working long minimum wage hours, I decided to go back to coding again.
hello Chris!, your videos inspire me so much. I am 12 years old who have been programming for 5 months. At the times I have always wanted to quit you would always inspire me to work harder. Thank You!
This career and life is a process! I told myself forever I couldn’t do comp sci once I transferred to my university, so I picked another major to cop out. But then something hit that I love tech, I love science and engineering, and I changed to comp sci. Now I’m 1 semester from graduation. And, have been self teaching all web technology on the side to complement the fullstack path I took with my degree and Damn it is amazing. For anyone afraid, or timid, just do it! And the perfect change for encouragement is the home Chris! He keeps it real. Keep it up man. And keep following your dreams
Sup Chris? Your story is truly inspiring. For real. And you seem like a genuine guy. I got a paycheck after getting my a*s fired from a company in which I was the operations supervisor. Anyway, so I decided to invest that money into myself by learning how to code. I´m 36 atm so it´s kinda late for me, but since I´ve always used computers... it´s not that of a pain. So I bought a tuitition and now I´m learning to be a full stack developer. Take care bro. God Bless.
Thanks Chris, you just gave me an orientation I never had. You just showed me how to move from where I am right now to where I want to be, thanks for making me overcome my fears, indeed three months is enough to be transformed and that's all I need to make a difference, thanks Chris for opening up my eyes for now I can see clearly.
Hey Chris, I've been watching your videos since this June. I've been following your advice on learning how to code and then job hunting right now. I'm also a Christian and hearing your testimony has given me a lot of hope. Keep up the good work, and I'll comment again on one of your videos when I land myself my first job! God bless.

Hey man, Canadian guy here. I won't go into it but I'm a first responder with PTSD. I've been off work for a long time. Too long! I have a hard time leaving the house.....so in my time at home I've been learning to code. Your videos are really inspiring! I've started with the basics and now I'm onto Java....It's become this weird addiction for me. I don't even know how I found your channel, but, they're seriously touching. (Little heavy on the Treehouse, but I feel you). Keep this up. You're doing good work! Love from the north.

If you can do it. So am I. Thanks for being an inspiration. Keep doing what youre doing
You did it again Chris! I followed your story back then and I was so impressed with you. However, just like you I quit coding because my life was in shambles. Fast forward to today, you've motivated me again to just put myself out there even if I don't feel like my skills are enough to land me a job. I'm ready now Chris! So thank you again. This is exactly what I needed to hear.
Thanks Chris, this is exactly what I am going through right now. Been learning how to code for the past 4 months know some JS relatively good at HTML and CSS. Every opportunity at work or home I learn coding. I kinda started to hate my current job. My boss is every annoying and I am always doing night shift. I feel like I am in a trap. "I'm lazy. it's takes me a long time to learn" you just described me. I needed this video at this very time. this is all the spur I need to go all out in 2022
I relate so much to the introversion and laziness part, but that has played a role in my procrastination habits. My inspiration for learning to code was a Day in the Life video from Edward Sa, and then came your videos. If I started then I would've had a year and a half of code study and practice, and I've been beating myself up from that. My problem is that there are no local jobs here.
Hi Chris! That was a nice video. I actually got fired from my job last year September due to office politics. Trust me you don't wanna experience this. I decided to take a change in my career. I started learning codes October HTML5 and CSS then JavaScript by January 2020. When I came across your video I knew I had hope and believed in myself that If you can do it, then I can do it too. I'm gonna start applying for jobs. Thank you for the insight. God bless you richly.

Hi! I just finished my CS associates this summer and I’m working on some projects right now. I work at a nursing home as an assistant for nurses but it’s just not my passion. A nurse told me I shouldn’t apply for jobs outside the nursing home and I should just ask my boss for a receptionist job instead of looking for a coding job. He discouraged me a little bit.
Teachers are glorified government employees that often have no talent themselves. Take advice from people who have accomplished what you want to accomplish.
bro when teachers discourage you, you know you should do it when they encourage you and you think you should then do it teachers always fall into those two categories
Excellent video - thank you for sharing Chris. I am a QA engineer learning to code now, so I appreciate your story. Also, I love how you incorporate the power of networking! Networking is so key!
You’re awesome bro. I really appreciate this advice. I’m trying to learn HTML and CSS currently just as a side hobby but I hope I can get to a level close to you.
I love how honest and up front you are!! And knowing that you are in such a great place right now with your new ~secret~ job it truly makes me so happy for you. It's so motivating, please continue making videos you are inspiring so many and lifting up so many people. I know because I'm one of them!
You're the best Chris. Thanks for your honesty, and for helping and giving hope to people out there embarking on this journey with doubt and low self-confidence. Such a great inspiration, cheers.
No degree on its own is ever enough, but you don't need to do too too much outside of that to get jobs; just make sure you have some basic JS skills and a stack that you can do good work in, like Ruby on Rails, Django, Flask, MERN, whole bunch of options! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions :)
I'm a junior developer and I have NOT found a job yet It's been a hard year for me and my family, but your video gives me hope that life can get better. thanks man
You made this video 2yrs ago but it's still the most sincere story I've heard. Other "How I" vids people post about their "struggle" fall flat as I can tell it's a bit made up to try to make it "relatable" for views. Regardless of what job you earned - it's a wonderful journey of perseverance and willingness to take risks without ego!
as you saw the video, it is my time to accept this time axis to continue learning coding. god bless you and thanks for your sharing. I hope you doing well.
Def needed to see this, I’m currently putting myself through the gauntlet learning a few different programming languages. Trying to change my trajectory as well. This was great 🙏🏾
You are a lot more resilient than me. I'm in my late 30s now, and it's kind of scary that I'll be in my 40s in a few years' time, with no savings, no house, a student load debt of $25,000. I work as a call centre agent for the last 3 years earning minimum wage of $1,600 a fortnight. This is not my ideal job, but it's the only job I could get into because I have arthritic joints disease which is passed on from my father side of the family. Back in my 20s, I attempted 2 years of chemical engineering course, but I failed miserably and dropped out, then I transferred to a computer science couse, did well the first year, but then my arthritis set in, and performed poorly in 2nd year. I tried Laboratory Chemistry, but also failed 2nd year. No point in looking back to my mistakes Ive made now, since the past cannot be changed. Now I'm thinking whether or not I should invest in education to study IT or Accounting, because I really want to get out of the rut. The call centre job is giving me anxiety and listening to customers complaints can really messed up my mental well-being in the long run.
Hello Chris...Diego here from Argentina. I love your videos, inspiring me. I am almost 50 man, and I am slowly learning html, css, Javascript and php...I am broke and need a change. I know there´s a lot of remote jobs there. So I am going to become a Full Stack, God Helps me. Greetings!.
11:32 Goosebumps man!! Huge respect 🙏, I've also started to learn to code, let's hope that i and everyone out theres who is doing the same, may land at a good job soon ❤️
I learned coding and software engineering by launching an NFT project. By having this vision of solving a problem and having a mission, I just worked through the problems as they came up and learned what I needed to. As money was an issue, and I couldn't hire anyone to help me, I've had to learn multiple languages to build the smart contract, and the web app. As I got the project launched and ready to go, I realized this is what I wanted to do. Now I'm studying hours a day, working to transition into a software development career from my culinary career. Thank you for this video.🙏
I'm not going to lie, I rarely comment on videos, but you really motivated me with this video. I'm a quadriplegic and I have been struggling with Python and I just stopped coding completely like you did. This video about HTML encouraged me. I'm starting HTML right now. I just want to say thanks for the motivation.
I'm a nurse, super unhappy and stressed about my career. It doesn't fit me! And honestly? I'm not even a high paid nurse. I have a certificate in nursing that took me 14 months to get, so I can't even work in a hospital. I started learning code about 3 weeks ago (I know the basics of HTML and CSS already from years ago). The past few days of learning have been so challenging... and your video really inspired me to continue. Thank you so much for posting this. I'll definitely keep watching your videos!
Hi Chris! Thank you for that video. Since the outbreak of the pandemic I am in a similar situation to the one you described as your motivation kick and I was just about to give up. 11 months ago I saw this video, and I was so inspired to learn code, after some research I decided to focus on Web development so I start with HTML-CSS and JS, after that I learnead bootstrap, jquery, and basics of Mysql and PHP, I applied to many many jobs on web development and almost though I will not get any job on that, yesterday I receive the good new, I was hired as a Web developer on a University in Costa Rica, I am so exited to start that journey, thank you Sean, this video it was not only very inspirational, but also a good guide in the technologies I needed to learn =)
I'm so grateful to find your video :) this is really inspiring to me as I'm stuck in the same situation feeling that nothing in this world actually fits me. I'm a computer science but sometimes I feel it's so hard and kinda out of my reach. I started college late and English is not my first language, which makes me be so unconfident sometimes, but your sharing actually pulls up my hope
It took a global pandemic for me to hunker down and really learn to code. I don't think you were bad at school, you just didn't have the fire to do it when you learned coding. Thomas Edison said it's "1% inspiration and 99% perspiration." Great video!

man, I just finished my bootcamp of 6 month as a full stack web dev, and I'm searching for jobs and it's scary because I'm feeling that I don't know much out almost nothing, like I can make things done but always need to research information either how to finish or how to start a certain function or project itself, and they always require way more programs that I never saw... your story is amazing and it does gives me inspiration, keeping my hope and trying to learn and get some place that I could at least start with professionals where I could actually learn how to be good enough and a good professional as well. I think the only thing we need is one shot to be able to grow. I want to learn coding but I want to do it as a hustle. Thanks for sharing your story. You not the only one going through it.
Thank you so much for this video! I've been studying how to code for almost 2 months now and even though I already understand HTML and CSS good, I still severely struggle to see if I'll ever be able to become a real front-end developer. It all just gets so overwhelming sometimes with certain lessons and then I remember that I haven't even started JavaScript yet and it's easy to then get demotivated even more. Your video however has helped me realize that there is hope and that I should continue with this path because it is possible for me to get a job, even though I might not be an excellent developer yet. Thank you! ♥
Chris, thank you for sharing your story and your faith! I’m soon to retire from the military and am hitting JavaScript hard to start up a whole new career. Your videos have been an inspiration to charge down a new path after over 21 years in aviation.
Ironically watched that video of bill gates too, it inspired me to learn to code but not enough to push me to do it. I believed that coding was something that I'll come to learn to do later when I get my life in order as a bonus skill. What pushed me to learn to code was when Corona Pandemic hit and everything fell apart, all my businesses ventures and plans were put into a halt. At that point, I had nothing to lose but time itself. So I decided to waste my time purposefully and learn to code. Started in March, I'm planning to become a full-stack developer. At first, when you're starting with HTML5 things are a bit hard, then when you get to CSS3 they keep getting harder and harder so it's easy to quit. A good idea is to mix tutors and courses of the same topic because everyone has their own way of teaching and being exposed to different teachers can make you understand things easier after exploring different perspective of different experts. Don't just stick to one. I'm on the back-end part now learning the technologies. My life depends on this so for me quitting is not an option and also the computer is something enjoy doing. Your videos are very inspirational, keep up the good work Man. Good luck to everyone going through the same journey, you are brave for doing that, just don't quit. You'll surprise yourself in the end and you'll be glad that you took this journey. The time you're wasting learning something consistently isn't time wasted no matter how slow you're going.

@Dreamz summary. i know html, css, basics of JS, basics of JAVA.
Your story is so humbling. You and Mayuko were my inspiration to start coding. I started back in 2019 and I gave up because I felt like I wasn't smart enough. After working long minimum wage hours, I decided to go back to coding again.

He discouraged me a little bit.
do you know if coding jobs on web dev and Java (I like java) are low right now? Please let me know
Teachers are glorified government employees that often have no talent themselves.
Take advice from people who have accomplished what you want to accomplish.
bro when teachers discourage you, you know you should do it
when they encourage you and you think you should

You made this video 2yrs ago but it's still the most sincere story I've heard. Other "How I" vids people post about their "struggle" fall flat as I can tell it's a bit made up to try to make it "relatable" for views. Regardless of what job you earned - it's a wonderful journey of perseverance and willingness to take risks without ego!
Well done Chris, you're a inspiration to many including me.

So inspiring bro , I am also going to start my journey to become a web developer , thank you

hey just checking on you how far?
I learned coding and software engineering by launching an NFT project. By having this vision of solving a problem and having a mission, I just worked through the problems as they came up and learned what I needed to. As money was an issue, and I couldn't hire anyone to help me, I've had to learn multiple languages to build the smart contract, and the web app. As I got the project launched and ready to go, I realized this is what I wanted to do. Now I'm studying hours a day, working to transition into a software development career from my culinary career. Thank you for this video.🙏

I want to learn coding but I want to do it as a hustle. Thanks for sharing your story. You not the only one going through it.
Happy for you man. You did great amount of work to be where you are, it says all about your character.
Thank you for all your videos. You inspired me a lot, I'm a self taught front end dev too =)
