Thanks for all the help bro. I found out about imposter syndrome from this video and it describes me very well. I have been coding with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for about 2 years now and I’m about to get my web development/design diploma. My problem is my anxiety and afraid to try new things. Now it’s time I put my skills to the test so I can learn more. My goal is to be a full time web developer/designer by 2022!
Hey Chris- can you link your discord here?
Congratulations!!!!
Dude, I've watched your videos since last year October or so. I was just starting out web development, studying css html bootstrap. I followed your tips and advices. Here I am 5 months later, now working as a backEnd web developer at a medical software company. on my way to MEAN stack. So to all of you who are just starting out, Be brave. Keep moving!
Cheers bro! Thanks a lot!! 😁
Hellllllll yeah!!!
@@RealChrisSean your videos are really life-changing for those you are willing to take the risk. I'm actually a career shifter, worked for 5years on another industry. And you definitely helped me get here. Bless you, brother!! ✨
@@donaldjr.labajo5687 wow bro that's cool! You found a job in only a year?
@@itsyaboiherman yup bro! So it all boils down to whether or not you are able to showcase your skills to prospect employers. ✌️

Sounds familiar! I’m 33, a mom of 2 & starting a journey of a career change from a respiratory therapist to a developer. It may take me longer bc my littles interrupt me every 2.5 seconds but I WILL a get there!
Don’t give up!
Good Luck! Im sure you will reach your goal!
Godbless your journey ma'am. You're doing good. 😇
Your situation is similar to mine.
You can do it laura!!!
This is the first time we worked on adding animations and illustrious the video. Did it help? Did you guys like it? Please let me know. This video in particular took 8 hours to edit this time. 🙏🙏🙏😅
If the content is legit anything else (animations etc. ) doesn't matter that much . I love the gems of content you are providing . Very helpful . Thanks Chris .
there is a lot of them, it was annoying and distracting for me
I think your videos don't need animation or any other special visual effects. This channel has always been about valuable content and that is the only thing that matters. Your time and energy are much more important as to be spent on editing animations imho. We are here for your personality, for your advices and insights, for your jurney. Thank you for everything you are doing for us!
Lots of love from Hungary!
Loved the Hero 6 Gif you put in there.
I think the animations are too distracting. I am trying to pay attention to what you are saying (the most important part) then an animation or sound effect comes on and I have to rewind the video to not miss what you said. The content in this video is gold, but I would do away with the animations.
One piece of advice I would also add to this video which I think Chris talked about in another video is dont just look at jobs that has the title developer or engineer in it. Look at jobs that need the programming language that you know. I have a friend that got a job as a data manager and his job is to maintain database including their front end system for a art museum. There are alot of companies that have wierd job titles for programming position and the only way you can find these positions is by searchinf for the programing language that they require not the title.
Quick Question. So pretty much google Job?
@@Kellworkie I would say go on indeed , glassdoor and other job finding sites instead of just google But type in programming language and a bunch of other things. Just move the words around , change of engineer , developer and other words. You will find a lot of different jobs in the same area
So true, I’m at the early stage of learning and when I look at the requirements of some job descriptions they are seeking more than the basic 3 I’m learning such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It’s quite unnerving but if you apply to one that need someone with the skills set you have have developed you can always expand on working toward learning those programming preferences other companies are seeking and gradually implement that in your work with current employer to show case your additional abilities which will seem more impressive.
@Jack well you have certainly proven some dead beat is watching and clearly does so thank you. Troll
I totally agree with the apply ASAP to jobs part. I started applying after about 4 months of HTML, CSS, JS. The experience of those initial failed interviews was absolutely invaluable. I was a total newb, but thanks to those interviews I learned about what these companies are looking for as an applicant. For example I was asked about OOP in my first interview. I failed to answer the question, then went home to learn as much as I could about OOP. Same with questions about CORS, HTTP verbs, and deployment to name a few. I could go on. My advice is to go to those interviews even if you feel you are not ready. You will be able to identify what it is you need to work on to be able to finally land your dream job.
Great advice.
Im 35 yrs old, and for the last week I have been just watching all these videos to finally decide if i want to start learning, and you sir made my decision, wish me luck!
Good luck
The biggest problem is not knowing when you're ready, even if you are more than ready.
Just start applying, companies tell you if you are right, it doesn't matter if you get rejected
When I first got serious about wanting to be a developer in my sophomore year of college, I put my pride away and put myself out there on reddit all the time for critique. Every time I did this, it was met with relentless mockery mixed in with some constructive encouraging criticism. It was extremely embarrassing every time, but I attribute my current abilities and successes largely to that attitude. Fail fast and fail publicly in front of thousands of people that are a million times better than you. Then you hear the most common jokes they make; those are the things you need to work on.
again, once im down and unmotivated and feeling like becoming a developer is a stretch I come back here and regain that motivation again. Thanks Chris
🙏
I just got hired as a software developer (first job) a month ago and I felt like I wasn't doing enough even though I'm just starting to learn the company's tech stack. Watching your videos really inspired me to focus more on learning :)
The market is soo competitive now, Upwork people pay peanuts, fiver people pay peanuts. You really need to get a job ASAP even as a junior and use treehouse to work alongside that job. Nothing beats experience.

any updates? recently quit a job because it wasn't what I wanted to do and now am thinking about learning web development as someone who has never had any experience in the field
Starting this journey now. I'm tired of working warehouse/factory jobs and going to college. Self-taught is the way to go for me. GL guys, Let's get this. I am going to give myself 6-12 months to get right and see where I go from there

Not noticing many job opportunities going through all the job postings. Not many jobs ATM in my state . Might have to expand the search once I'm ready.

Frontend development is a showcase of "look what I can do" and skip when maintenance gets tough.
Want to learn frontend, start with software engineering? You have over 80 years of wealth of information available to you. Amazing concepts that stuck with us to this day. And monumental failures that we are repeating like clockwork.
I love you so much Chris. I am from Uganda.
Started with you back in 2017. I started learning to program PHP and python back in 2017
After 1 year I got a job to work remotely with a company in Hong Kong as a backend dev. The pay is more than beautiful yet I only get to work with them for only 2 hours a day. I also work with a company in Melbourne which comes with all of these benefits.
I am just 26 and only thankful for the blessing of life bro. Keep going!
Currently I am trying to learn some stuff to do with Machine Learning and all of that. But web development is something I am so passionate about as of now.
Seeing videos like this honestly make me tear up cuz it makes me realize how much I hate my life (or hate the future of it).
I'm about to graduate from a health science program with no job prospects and 0 passion behind what I thought i was gonna pursue (med school/healthcare). When I do graduate, I'll try to get a small job to keep afloat so that I have the free time to come back to your channel and go full force with learning this career path and see if I can do it. I'll do treehouse and all that. Sir, you've given me some hope in taking more control of my life. My dream is to actually be able to pursue this and finally be at peace with my life. I'm scared to work paycheck to paycheck.
Just finished university officially, about to graduate soon. Taking a restful break and will HOPEFULLY continue to consider this since I now have so much free time on my hands. I'm gonna apply to office jobs / call center stuff just to have some money in the meanwhile, but then I'll probably officially start.

When I started learning years ago, what I did also is to take notes/key highlights of the tutorials you take, so when I build stuff and forget something, I just have to glance with it. It's really helpful. And I still use notes with all previous tutorial I watched years ago. I use text file and made repo with it and its huge now with range of topics. Its easy to glance back and have refresher to certain topics you forgot. It is human thing.
Learning never stop when you're a dev. So take notes! :) happy learning

Learning a programming language is the same as learning any other language. The only difference is you won't really be speaking it all too much, but more so writing it. Also, you're always communicating with the same thing (a machine/computer). So how would you learn to speak Spanish or French if you didn't know? Some may want to dive into a book and learn all of the syntax and punctuation, some may learn from listening to audio, some enjoy diagrams or notecards, some may want to watch other people doing it. Figure out how you learn the best and learn coding that way, because there isn't one size fits all for learning.

Day 1. I'm so lost when I decided to study programming and hopefully develop websites/apps someday, but this video helped me! Let's not give up!
Hell yeah! Never give up :)
Just code every day even if its only 20 minutes per day. You will be amazed what you will recall over time. Never give up!

Starting tomorrow. See you in 6-9months!
Ok so, I'm gonna comment on the video so when I get hired I can come to edit it and say I've made it.
Great steps! I am going to apply this ASAP to my current goals!
