Ya the tcg app scanned quite a few wrong. Revised and chronicles were just a few I saw that were mis scanned. Also every pack these days has a foil, unless its 7th edition or sets from around that time most foils are worthless. The last thing was that green deck box, I find it hard to believe that deck wasn't sleeved if it was anything worth while. Most modern cards aren't worth the paper they were printed on.

A few reseller lessons to be learned here:
    1. Stick to things you know
    2. If the seller is yapping this much, they likely know what they have
    3. If the seller clearly knows more than you do about the product, you should ask yourself why aren’t they selling it themselves (prime example - if he knew he could walk into a card store and get $400, why doesn’t he do that. It’s much less effort than yapping at you for 30 mins)
Also, you are making almost nothing on those 4k lots after fees and shipping (approx $8 fees plus $18 flat rate shipping = $18. That breaks down to $4.50 per 1000 cards ($2 per thousand after COGS). You can walk into nearly any card store and sell 1000 cards bulk for $5 per thousand.
You also aren’t valuing your labor at all here.

If your selling on ebay they are paying for shipping if you are smart so it isnt 18 bucks. So are making well over $5 a 1000.
Dude was looking to move and didnt wanna deal with it and haggle and get low balled at a store offering 30-60% of total price and the haggle.
Labor and time? I do stuff like this strictly for fun. I make money doing something I enjoy that is labor or time in my mind and with as happy as dude is I dont think he sees it like that either.
Learn to just enjoy and not be all about the bottom line. Profit is profit be it $5 or $5000

@@TheSteveo313they all clearly say free shipping when he shows the listings. That means seller pays shipping. And the point of his video is about how much money he is making on this deal. My point is that he appears to be making the mistakes a lot of inexperienced people make. Feel free to lose all the money you want, but a lot of people enjoy making money on these types of things, and if you followed this video at face value it would be bad advice.

Imagine if he knew a lot about magic, you would be able to look through stuff and know at a glance. Also, yeah, the TCG app. You don't know any of the editions and that app is known for scanning poorly so you often have to manually select the right edition. So if you are scanning something that the app thinks is Arabian Nights when its actually chronicles, the difference is massive.

Been in mtg since 94, you got a bunch of bulk for the most part. Tcg player app has a hard time telling the difference between sets, some you scanned and said where $7-$10 were from the chronicles reprint sets. A lot of the rest is over printed junk. Bro got fineness and should be humble about it, I have been buying and selling dor the past 30yrs and shit happens you learn as you go sometimes.

I dont trust that phone app. Several times I would get big hits through the app, like $300 value. Then an hour later I would scan the SAME exact card and it would be worth 10 cents. For Pokemon cards it couldnt tell the difference between shadow and shadowless cards, which is a big deal when it comes to value. And I dont scan with them inside the plastic as it can give off a reflection, giving it a incorrect hit. Just from my experience with the app

    • @XsHouseHustles

Most people who know what they have won't settle for less than market rate. Usually for magic cards if someone is trying to get rid of stuff quick you might get the cards for half value (which is really good btw).
Most card shops buy cards for half value then sell at market rate. It's how they make their profits.
Hoping he's able to sell some of the cards in the binder. Saw some goodies for commander in there, but nothing insane.

Lol.. bro just bought ALL of dudes bulk. When you asked him if he knew magic and he started spitting sets at you that should have been your cue to pass. ANY mtg player that has cards like this does not have valuable cards in those boxes.
You scored yourself countless hours of work my friend. Bulk is bulk is bulk. If the dude knew what bulk is then its not worth it.
Yeah you can make your money back with stuff he passed over or cards that come in the money because they start seeing play but dear god bro..
Also, you did not make 3k off these cards like I saw in an earlier comment.
Some guy who knows magic isn't going to hand you 50k cards that are labeled bulk and have all the bangers in them.
Genuinely, what made you decide to just take them all like that? You didn't know what he wanted and how much there was. It sounds like he could have said 800 bucks and you would have handed it over with how confident you were of a "score" you thought you had.

Sorry but I'm afraid you've been scammed big time. I hardly believe that someone who already checked the buylist for a lot of mtg cards will sell it for a price that's going to make you a significant profit. I'm an mtg player and as far as I've seen in this video, no cards shown have acual value, except, maybe, the 1st one on the top left of the 1st page of the binder. It might be a Sol'kanar from Legends. If so, it's worth around 70 bucks. But most likely it's either the italian version or the Time spiral one, which are reprints and go for only 5-6 bucks. I can tell because the colours are brighter than the original version. Those that you scanned with the tcg app are from a different edition than the one given by the app, and are worth only a few cents, not dollars.
EDIT: giving it a second look, almost all the cards shown on the binder are from Time spiral, and aren't worth what the app is saying.

You have no idea what you're talking about, I've made thousands of dollars from that buy. And I still have hundreds of cards I am still selling. My eBay store should be linked in the description. I'm not trying to be rude, but you are misinformed.

@@XsHouseHustles I may have been been a bit harsh calling this a scam, but it doesn't look like you got a great deal either. for some reason I cannot see your sold listings on eBay. But I can see what you're selling atm and almost all the cards listed are low end, ranging between 2 and 10 dollars. Considering the huge amount of work it must have taken you to scan them, take a photo of them and list them, adding ebay fees and shipping fees (you offer free shipping for most, btw), I doubt this deal made you more money than it would have made you selling burgers at macdonalds or working any other job. I've been playing mtg for 20 years so I surely know it better than you and I can tell you that most of the cards you got, you won't sell. The lots you've shown, 4k cards for 45 dollars with free shipping, are essentially 0 profit sales. Again, it was not a scam, but considering the time of work / profit ratio, it doesn't look to be a good deal.
