Nice one! When do we get a Barry Maz signature ukulele with your face ingraved on the top though? Maybe Mahalo would be interested in a team-up?
Been offered many times to do one - would be impossible impartially review!
This engraving better be lazer etched 😂
@@gethinap Didn't think of that but yes, of course! The uke also have to be blinged out with lots of mother of pearl.
Something I didn't know I needed...
@@GotAUkulele I think that if it were carried out it should be at your request
8:44 Thanks for keeping it real, Baz :D :D :D
Very nice. Great review!👍👍
Thanks!
I've got the Tenor, and for the price, it's simply amazing. The Worth browns take a while from new to 'bed in', but then it just stays in tune really well. It's a wonderful instrument to play, and I really love it. I'm a Flight convert 🙂
My only issue with the tenor release is - why it's a signature when Peter doesn't play tenors. Nice ukes though!
Yeah, I can understand that. World of Ukes are of the same opinion. But he does play a Tenor now, but not sure if he has used it live yet.
@@GotAUkulele I do when in the UK - set up with a low G.
I really like the looks of this one. Flight is really becoming a real strong competitor in all price ranges and purposes. I really rather not have electronics but it is what it is. It sounded a little hollow but that could be the type of strings. The sound is nice overall. This is a real nice one… thanks as always….DOC
I think they've overtaken most if not all value brands now. Left Kala in the dust I think
Great review as ever!
Thanks!
Like this one.
Another fantastic ukulele, Flight are really good
They are. They need to sharpen up their QC though (although this one is in great shape)
Moonburst is very nice. Beautiful sound. ❤️ 🎶
Wow, what a beauty and the price is not bad at all! A wonderful sound, too! This is a winner! Thanks, Baz!
I think so.
I've watched your channel for a long time but don't usually comment but this time I feel I just have to.
I love the look of this instrument. It's one of the best looking that I have seen. Everything about it looks great and I really like the rear-facing tuners.
Keep up the great work Baz.
Thanks Paul!
Thanks for another great review. Moon burst is a looker and sounds real nice. Flight continue to do their own thing at a real good price point. Sustain for a concert at this price point is impressive. Have a great week.
Thanks Mike
Really nice concert uke from flight...wonder if you'd ever make tutorials, cause you'd be an absolute banger of a teacher. 😊
I leave the teaching to actual uke teachers! Enough 'would be' uke teachers on RUclips as it is!
This ukulele, purchased acoustic Ku, and fitted by my luthier with a MiSi Acoustic Trio pickup, could very well give my current concert a run for its money.
Yep - i only they offered an acoustic option...
Very nice looking, little bright for me . . . not crazy about the fret logo but good price
What a great instrument. Im looking for my next ukulele to buy. Idk if i go with kala, or flight. But this one looks and sounds very nice. Thanks again for yet another review.
I think Flight have left Kala in the dust really - just need to ensure you buy from a store that does setups as they often need it.
@@GotAUkulele Yea. Thoman, sold me a fender strat, with a big ass mark on the freadboard. Really not happy at all. Sadly i dont have a ukulele store close to me. So your videos, is like the closest thing, to "guys" how the intrument is. Then i need to buy it from an online store. Do you know if you buy from flight themself they quality control all thair ukes ?
@@jonas3619 Don't think Flight sell direct any longer - it's handled by Music Room (and i've not been impressed with a couple). Best places to buy from depend on where you are in the world - but World of Ukes and Southern Ukulele Store are both exceptional
@@GotAUkulele Good to know. Sadly denmark are to small, for a ukulele store. But the stores you are talking about looks very great. Sadly after brexit its gonna cost alot to import them from UK. But im gonna have a look out for quality control. Im really annoyed with big companys, just giving zero shits.
What a beauty, on so many levels. Stunning to look at and sounds good too. It actually looks far more expensive than it is (imo). I would suggest Flight are leaving more than just 'value brands' in the dust.
Thanks, as always, Baz for another great review. Stay safe mate! 👍
Thank you!
One of my favourite brands having 3 but wish they would get rid of that pickup inside. Thanks Barry
Thanks for the nice review Baz.
Regarding the difference of price with the Nighthawk, as it is not so much, I guess the difference of finish - a burst on the top is harder to do than the flat black color of the Nighthawk - can be enough to explain the difference. In addition, having a burst and only a translucent color on the back and side require to use probably better looking pieces of wood, as the all black finish of the Nighthawk might hide some of the cosmetic defects on the wood. The pick up is also better and probably pricier...
It seems really fair to me
Even if I am not a big big fan of Flight, I bought a more traditional soprano from them a few years ago and it is not really nice sounding (probably not sufficiently lightly built). I have a Ohana soprano also from the same period and in the same price bracket that is really really nicer sounding. I know that you like Flight because they have improve along the years but I am not sure I am ready to buy another one, at least not before trying with my own two hands the newer models :).
Can't see a burst costs that much. Pickup is the same in both
Looks great and sounds great. While I like how they sound, I’ve found Worth Browns take a little to get used to. In my experience, they can have a lower tension and are a little “slippery” (if that’s a term).
Yes I know what you mean - and they do take longer to settle I find. Mind you I think they are helping here in mellowing out the brightness.
Fun Fact - the material is the same as that used for artificial bristles on sweeping brushes. Invented by DuPont I think.
Kris Kristofferson have that song "help me make it through the night". When I'm in a "help me make it trough the day" mood, I watch Got a ukulele. And it helps every time! Bless you, Barry!
About this one: I like it a lot, but they could have dumped the electrics.
Thanks a lot for a nice review. Have a good day ❤️
Thanks!
I hope one day you can review the flight mus-2, it is a copy of the Martin S2. Saludos 💚
Will see what I can do
@@GotAUkulele Thank you 💚 I plan to save for a ule in that price range but I'm not sure if that one, a Cort or a Mahi Mahi (besides the fact that the flight is the only one available here)
Best uke reviews online come from this channel. I tend to agree with about 98 percent of the info offered here over the years. Active pickups are not my choice either. I don't like the color or style of this one though. That might change if I saw it in person. However, I tend to steer away from "signature" ukes. I also dislike the fret marking placements off center. Purely subjective stuff though. Sound through my speakers was just okay compared to some you've done recently. Sounded a bit muddy or subdued for my taste (might improve over time). The lack of character in the sound reminds me of Fender ukes. That said, I'm glad signature ukes exist. Just not for me.
Yep - all each to their own of course - and very subjective.
Is that a vintage Wedding Present shirt?
Not vintage - but did replace my original Bizarro shirt I bought when I saw them in Sheffield in about 1990. This was bought on the anniversary tour a few years back
(well spotted!)
Also... seeing them again next month!!
@@GotAUkulele Early 90s is probably the last time I saw them play. Gedge invited a band of friends of mine to support the 'Weddoes' on their Dutch tour.
Cool!
I'm probably on my lonesome, but I would rather the top was natural. I'd rather see the spruce , not just a sneak peek at it. Sounds nice though.
Fair enough!
why cant these companies listen and not force these unwanted pick ups on customers??? sounds pretty good looks nice but dont need a pick up im not peter moss but wont be getting this one a pity i would get it if i could have a choice .thanks for the review
Agreed - seems really simple to offer two versions at different prices..
