    You can't go wrong with either of these cars, but I would lean towards the manual GTS. Plus you know it's always going to hold its value better and probably be more reliable than the Merc as it ages.

      The C63S is the last of the V8 model now that the new one is hyrbid/4cyl turbo and will hold it's value moving forward. It has also proven to be a reliable platform. If I had the option I would choose the C63S.

    • @mclouj
      @mclouj Год назад +4

      @@gavinr9107 That’s a good point Gavin. Euro fleet emission targets are going to ruin everyone’s fun sooner or later. I’m sure the new 4cyl C63 is fast as hell but its also 2.3 tonnes 🤮
      The old V8s weigh heaps less and probably have better fuel economy in the real world.

  • @jrbuch

    The C63 sounds nutty. I heard a modified one a few years back, it sounded kind of like a boosted Harley. These two cars couldn't be more different in character. When the new C63 arrives with the turbo 4 pot, we'll miss the V8 when it's gone.

      Mercedes/AMG has done well with their cars but at the end of the day it's all driveline.
      In the VF I think they nailed it with the HSV models I've been in the GTS and the 2017 GTS-R and had the privilege to drive the GTS-R with the whole MRC which nearly all sports cars have these days and tech not all cars have 10 inch diffs and a full driveline to handle 1000hp before upgrades including gearbox too that goes for the GTS aswel. And there has been GTS's pushing 1300 with the factory driveline without even snapping an axle. I'm a huge AMG fan I love the sound and power but for affordability and easy parts OEM or non OEM I'm going for the HSV also factory GTS-R 0-260 at 18°c private road (auto) 18 seconds ;)
      For driveability when I've been passenger in both going through roundabouts at 70-80kmh you don't feel it in the GTS-R I've actually fallen asleep in the passenger seat it's that comfortable if that says anything

    HSV GTS due to Aussie heritage and growing up with them. Parts are cheaper based on the standard VF base platform unless HSV specific. AMG C63S a different beast based on refinement, acceleration, handling and prestige. We have to remember that the C63 was 50%+ more than the HSV new. They will both climb up in value as the HSV is not made anymore and the C63S is the end of the V8 in its series. I'd rather have the GTS as IMO the future value will surpass the C63S.

      C63S very rarely get close to the highly optimistic 0-100 time quoted from factory. When you tune them - the lack of traction is worsened and you get even slower 0-100times. Getting into the threes is near impossible on street tyres on a street.

    Bit of an unfair review I reckon.
    How can you compare a relatively stock manual hsv with rubber band tires on 22inch rims it didn't come out with versus a quick shift paddle automatic with bigger upgraded turbos and better grip tyres and say the Mercedes won. A auto vf gts with cam upgrade, better tune and ported blower intake with correct 20 inch wheels and good rubber would belt the piss through the AMG.
    The hsv has lots more potential. And heaps more fun being manual.

I also can confirm this after going through many continental & Michelin tyre's. Its only weakness is it isn't at Michelin wet grip standard which is well short of the latest from continental anway.
