Ridge Racer PSP is kinda special
Because,it contain also tracks from the classic Ridge Racer titles also with some of soundtrack from old games and remixes version as well
So did RR6, RR6 had some tracks from R4, and remixes of RR and Rage Racer (I'm pretty sure)
Ridge Racers 2 on PSP is the definitive version of this game. Its one of my favorite games of all time, top tier Ridge Racer game. The music, the presentation for the time for a handheld, the handling, it's a sublime arcade racer. Maybe not for those who seek a Gran Turismo fix but man if you like games like Outrun or Daytona USA (y'know those kind of games) it's a must have for PSP owners.
Daytona USA, now your talking my language.
If you can, get Ridge Racer 2, it's literally the same game, but with more songs, cars and a few tracks, kinda like a DLC
LOL I hate it when I try to drift pass a car, but instead I bump it a head in front of me.
I will yell at the screen when that happens 😂😂😂
Finished beating this game around a week ago and I pretty much agree with what you've said.
The OST is meh,but I appreciate that they added remixes/classic OSTs from the older games.
Personally I think this is the best Ridge Racer to start as a newbie.
I heavily recommend checking out it's sequel.

The PSP had tons of fantastic racing games, and this one is definitely no exception. I had the PSP sequel Ridge Racers 2 when I was younger, and sadly I recently discovered the unfortunate state the series is currently in...

( 7:43 Can't believe you called the cutscenes 'lame', though! I highly recommend giving Ridge Racer Type 4's intro cutscene a watch. It's soooo hype, absolutely love it!)
Between RR and Burnout, they’re both the pinnacle of arcade racing. Any RR or Burnout is a blast to play or come back to. Especially if it’s your first time and you have to pick up the unique mechanics. Just don’t play RR Unbounded. We don’t talk about Unbounded.

Even running on my TV via Raspberry Pi 4 it looks good. Really enjoyed the game when I was younger and it's 4am and I only just finished a session on the TV haha, great fun.

If you think this Ridge Racer is great, then you'll love Ridge Racer 2 for the PlayStation Portable even more. Although it never got a North American release, UMD games thankfully aren't region locked. The sequel basically has more modes, more world tours, more courses, more cars, and more music. I definitely recommend finding a copy of Ridge Racer 2 PSP if you get the chance in the future.

@@JonnytheGamer725 there are a few other differences though, MAX tours are a lot easier, special class 1 cars look different and there more courses. some of the extra courses are not that great compared to the rest of the game. (looking at you generic oval)
Or you could do it the easy way and just pirate it
I know pirating games is bad but no one profits from RR2 anymore (except eBay sellers and some obscure shop that still has it)
This blew my mind. I didn't know they released a sequel. Loved the first one.
Such an awesome game. They perfected the controls and handling. I totally disagree that the music is not catchy. I don’t care much for the happy hardcore stuff like Rotterdam, but the Classic Discs have got some absolutely awesome music in them. Red and a Blue discs are decent too. I have both Ridge Racer and Ridge Racer 2 and didn’t realise you only really need Ridge Racer 2, thinking 2 would be completely different in terms of tracks, cars and music.
I put like more than 50h on this PSP game. SOUNDTRACK IS A 10/10. Gameplay 9/10. Arcade feeling 11/10. Just play it. seriously

For the price of a couple of quid to buy nowdays or a quick download, you can't go far wrong with Ridge Racer or many other PSP games for that matter!
That upscale melody from the tour menu together with the airport symbols and sounds kind of pressed my nose way too hard on the fact that I'm not a rich street racer who can take the airplane around the world whenever he pleases whilst having his cars shipped there with him. Painful in an inspiring way! Love the game, very intense
Hands down the best PSP game ever made, alongside WipEout Pure.

Only played Ridge Racer 3D. Gameplay looks similar to 3D but the PSP OST sounds a lot calmer compared to 3D. It's a breath of fresh air and relaxing.
I've been playing this game while listening to Daytona USA OST and I don't know why but I was getting better at it.
Also gran turismo
This game was amazing. The soundtrack was incredible.
Is Ridge Racer worth your time?
My dad bought a psp 2000 for my birthday at 2010...so i the time im like 4-5 yrs old..a just play the games that my dad download in it...and it broken in 2014...and now i have bought a psp 3000 and its on the delivery..im very exited!!

I have the 3DS version of Ridge Racer and I believe it is pretty much the same game with some little differences. For instance the announcer is a woman. But all the tracks presented in your video looked very familiar. It's a really good racing game. You know, the PSP has tons of good racing games but the 3DS only very little, like two or so.
Nice! I didn’t know it was on the 3ds, I agree the psp has tons of good racing games, I forgot how much I enjoyed them. That’s a shame that the 3ds doesn’t have many racing titles :(

I am going to buy RR again..but just for fun...First time around i completed it...world tour and all ... its HARD to complete ... i guess i've lost my reflexes now...old age huh... yes i love this game ... i was a outrun junkie before RR ... completed outrun too which is easier....Checkpoint ! 😆😆😆
I remember one of the special cars, the airplane one, it's pac-man, and I think you get a new track as well once you unlock him, I think it was called "Eat Em' Up"
Note that I'm saying I think, cuz I was like 4 and I don't remember much about this game

I did on PPSSPP gold what I couldn't do on an actual PSP which is beat this game LOL.
I had a Japanese psp before it's Uk release. Half the plane was using it to play this on a flight to Malia ha.
I wish I could find a good review of the sequel to this game.

Let me start on the good things, this game has excellent presentation, from graphics, to ui, to sound, really attractive and well done, unfortunately, the good things end there, the driving is abysmal in all honesty, it feels like you are ice skating all the time with no sense of weight and your car seems to be completely made out of rubber, it bounces hilariously from wall to wall, the physics of this game are absolutely terrible, that's why i could not recommend it to anyone, there are far better racers on the platform that are worth your time
