Brad, don't be that surprised that Glen Benton didn't quit after he said that he has another decade in him 10 years ago. You can't take that guy seriously on anything he says he'll do. At this point he's 18 years past due for his own sacrificial suicide.
He NEVER said he was going to kill himself at 33. He said he had dreams/premonitions of his death to occur at the age of Christ’s death. Big difference.
I remember getting the album with the bloody sheet and then opening it up and seeing the dead bloody Jesus behind the front cover. Genius album art. I got "Serpents of the Light" when I was 12 years old. I got that and CC "Vile" the same day and the heaviest albums I had up to that point were Sepulturas "Beneath the Remains", Vision of Disorders "S/T" and Hatebreeds "Satisfaction is the Death of Desire" so these albums were obviously way heavier overall I'd say than those AMAZING I might add, albums. I was into Korns selftitled "life is Peachy" and Deftones "Adrenaline" and "Around the Fur" at this same time. I also really loved Slayers "Undisputed Attitude" and it's still my favorite Slayer album ever. However, at 12 I didn't realize this album was pretty much all covers of old original punk bands, which I got into upon realizing this. Still love " TSOL", Minor Threat and others because of those bad ass Slayer covers, which in my opinion are better and blow the originals out of the water. To be 12 again discovering all this amazing music. Up to this point my first albums were Green Day "Dookie" and "Insomniac", Offspring "Smash" POTUSOA, so Deicide and Cannibal Corpse was a step into the metal direction. I'll also never forget getting "Chaos Sphere" by Meshuggah.

There are some moments where it feels phoned in, but I'm enjoying the hell out of this album. Is it gonna make it in my top 10 albums of the year? Probably not. Is it one of their better albums in a while? I think so; the last album I really enjoyed by them was The Stench of Redemption. I respect their voice on many albums where i normally would not, one because i feel they really are into the music that is reviewed and two they introduce me to albums that i would not really be exposed to!
I think this album sounds like Once Upon the Cross had a baby with The Stench of Redemption...I think it's really good...really catchy. what i love is that, upon being asked what he’d say if he died and God turned out to be real and he sat at the pearly gates about to be judged, he said he’d say “oops”
Yeah, sure, if you hold it up to their entire back cat, it's a 2.5, against anything they've put out in the last 10 years, it's a 4.0 though. As a stand alone album of death metal, however, it's damn solid and gets a 4.5 from me. I've never lost sleep over Deicide putting out sub-par material, but maybe this is them turning a corner. It's certainly contains more memorable hooks than I've heard from them ever and anyone in general this year - maybe that's down to the fantastic new guitarist as well to some extent. Yes, it's surprised even me! I've jumped to the defence of a Deicide album, there! I've done it. 😀
The clearly miss Jack Owen. Jack brought a lot of creativity and fresh air to the band for the few albums that he was with the band. I could say the same about Cannibal Corpse.
Glen Burton's vocals are fucking amazing. Probably the best in the genre if you ask me. Brutal as fuck but you can actually understand the words. Sick as hell!!!!

THIS ALBUM IS AN AMAZING DEATH METAL ALBUM.. just saying that right up front. Never really got into Deicide up until now and I’ve heard of them, but never really listened to them until now. I LOVE this record. It’s a road trip album for me. i love the riffs and how honest the lyrics and solos are. I dunno man, I’ve heard a lot of great death metal bands these days, but it’s nice to hear a band, that’s been around since the late 80’s show all these kids how to do it right. I don’t agree with the reviewers here… at all. From what I do know, this band is legendary, and it’s nice to hear a record from a legendary band put out a record that sounds amazing.
Typing this before I finish the video... I felt the opening track, 'One With Satan,' was pretty much a Deicide Medley. I could hear riffs (at least extremely similar) from multiple other Deicide tracks spanning across multiple albums. Most notably, 'Witness Of Death' from their To Hell With God album. That being said I liked the entire album and the song but it just threw me off course a little. Opening with that song just put a bad taste in my mouth from the get go. My personal favourite is 'Legion,' which I appreciated for the increased technicality over the first album. I think they all felt legitimately threatening and a little unhinged.
We need more anti-Islamic bands. That would be actually brave and someting new. The whole Satan thing is mostly overused or generic. Will check out the record, it seems solid. Just solid. New Irreversible Mechanism rips btw. Really good prog/tech death band! And I wasn't aware Conan released a new record, gonna fix that!
I agree! - Have you heard of Al-Namrood? They're a Saudi Arabian black metal band, that have anti-islamic lyrics. They have to release their records through a Canadian label since they're technically breaking Saudi law by making the music they make.
Here's the thing, most bands go for anti-Christian themes because they were raised with christianity either directly in their families or in the society they live in. If you want anti-Islamic bands, your'e going to have to wait for bands that are comprised of people who have actually experienced that lifestyle. Al-Namrood is the only one that is somewhat known in the underground scene.
Not really, first we are all in the west being affected by islam now especially europe but you dont have to experience or live in something to make songs about it. Like all the viking, medieval, ww2 bands and so on.
Glenn Benton was a fucking gentleman when I saw them. Talked to him after the show. The dude gave me a Deicide pick right out of his wallet. Say what you want about the dude, but he was nothing but cordial when I met him.
Aggressive Tendencies ? I never mentioned the critic'ing. dont mi nd it. my only response is the newer stuff dont have the Bible Basher type of humor that's been missing, or lines like "hypocrite bible puncher!" I miss those zingers he used to put in. he did say "missed the call from your god" which was great.
If ya’ll like “tag team reviews” you should check us out. We cut out all the crap you can find on Wikipedia and just tell you if the albums are good or not. We also listen to the albums a crap load of times before actually reviewing it unlike other channels who listen once and then slap a score on it. We also don’t read scripts. Everything is off the cuff and genuine. We are currently reviewing this album as well but our First Impressions are up on the channel already as well as a reaction to the official video for Defying the Sacred. Keep them heads bangin metalheads! 🤘🏻
Me and a friend of mine were discussing this album and we came to the conclusion of it sounds a lot like Vader. Is it just us or does it actually sound like that? Absolutely love the new material regardless
Sounds like a pretty fair review. I've never really followed Deicide (no real reason, just haven't) but from what I heard it sounds pretty straight up. I don't mind straight up, but I prefer an album that tries to do something besides "not being the bottom of the barrel".
The guys in Monstrosity have played for almost every band imaginable. Cannibal Corpse even found a Vocalist thanks to Monstrosity

This album is the perfect combination between groove, melody and brutality. As for the lyrics, the band is called Deicide for a reason.

We absolutely do, but I bet everyone would lose their shit and no one would want to book or sign them. Look at what happened with Taake.
Kei Kurono yeah I know, I live in a very Christian country hehe. Still, imagine if Behemoth went anti Islam. That would be super interesting right?
Not really, first we are all in the west being affected by islam now especially europe but you dont have to experience or live in something to make songs about it. Like all the viking, medieval, ww2 bands and so on.
Glen is not even a Satanist. King Diamond now that is a real Satanist
7:46 Bradley's best one-liner, lol
Hahaha thanks man!
Glenn Benton was a fucking gentleman when I saw them. Talked to him after the show. The dude gave me a Deicide pick right out of his wallet. Say what you want about the dude, but he was nothing but cordial when I met him.
Chris LaVey he is a cool guy ive met him too. as long as you aren't Bob Larson u should be fine if u meet Satan Spawn the Cacodemon!
Yeah, he's a nice guy. I've interviewed him. Doesn't mean his music is above criticism, you know?
Aggressive Tendencies ? I never mentioned the critic'ing. dont mi nd it. my only response is the newer stuff dont have the Bible Basher type of humor that's been missing, or lines like "hypocrite bible puncher!" I miss those zingers he used to put in. he did say "missed the call from your god" which was great.
How do you guys feel about Kataklysm most recent album?
It's a little too melodeath for me, but it's decent.
You guys do an awesome job keep it up Metal 4 Life
And review Seige of Power Warning Blast
If ya’ll like “tag team reviews” you should check us out. We cut out all the crap you can find on Wikipedia and just tell you if the albums are good or not. We also listen to the albums a crap load of times before actually reviewing it unlike other channels who listen once and then slap a score on it. We also don’t read scripts. Everything is off the cuff and genuine. We are currently reviewing this album as well but our First Impressions are up on the channel already as well as a reaction to the official video for Defying the Sacred. Keep them heads bangin metalheads! 🤘🏻
Great channel, hail the Two Toe Tags!
"Separate the art from the artist" Its an important motto to live by.
I did. I've spoken to Glen and he's a nice dude, but I had to put that out of mind when I was thinking about this album.
Just tried to find your review of Zao’s the well intentioned virus, and it seems you guys didn’t review it. Why is that?
We do one or sometimes two reviews per week so we can't review everything!
Great album, though. I reviewed it for Exclaim! if you're curious about that: exclaim.ca/music/article/zao-the_well-intentioned_virus
Me and a friend of mine were discussing this album and we came to the conclusion of it sounds a lot like Vader. Is it just us or does it actually sound like that? Absolutely love the new material regardless
I can hear the Vader comparison for sure.
Sounds like a pretty fair review. I've never really followed Deicide (no real reason, just haven't) but from what I heard it sounds pretty straight up. I don't mind straight up, but I prefer an album that tries to do something besides "not being the bottom of the barrel".
Thanks homie! Much love.
