The guys in Monstrosity have played for almost every band imaginable. Cannibal Corpse even found a Vocalist thanks to Monstrosity
This album is the perfect combination between groove, melody and brutality. As for the lyrics, the band is called Deicide for a reason.
I don't like all of deicides discography but they are the most crucial deathmetal band
Once upon the cross and legion are my favs but overtures of blasphemy has blown my mind
Literally every Deicide song ever-“Eww, who invited God?”
Hahaha, pretty much.
No kidding. Same album for 30 years.
samuel clark more like borrowed or even.. referenced
“Jingle bell god smells”
Goniloc ;)
cover artwork is sick as hell!
I remember getting the album with the bloody sheet and then opening it up and seeing the dead bloody Jesus behind the front cover. Genius album art. I got "Serpents of the Light" when I was 12 years old. I got that and CC "Vile" the same day and the heaviest albums I had up to that point were Sepulturas "Beneath the Remains", Vision of Disorders "S/T" and Hatebreeds "Satisfaction is the Death of Desire" so these albums were obviously way heavier overall I'd say than those AMAZING I might add, albums. I was into Korns selftitled "life is Peachy" and Deftones "Adrenaline" and "Around the Fur" at this same time. I also really loved Slayers "Undisputed Attitude" and it's still my favorite Slayer album ever. However, at 12 I didn't realize this album was pretty much all covers of old original punk bands, which I got into upon realizing this. Still love " TSOL", Minor Threat and others because of those bad ass Slayer covers, which in my opinion are better and blow the originals out of the water. To be 12 again discovering all this amazing music. Up to this point my first albums were Green Day "Dookie" and "Insomniac", Offspring "Smash" POTUSOA, so Deicide and Cannibal Corpse was a step into the metal direction. I'll also never forget getting "Chaos Sphere" by Meshuggah.
Brad, don't be that surprised that Glen Benton didn't quit after he said that he has another decade in him 10 years ago. You can't take that guy seriously on anything he says he'll do. At this point he's 18 years past due for his own sacrificial suicide.
Fair play. Haha.
You win.
Lol he said that he would commit suicide at age 33 to mirror the life of Jesus Christ.
He NEVER said he was going to kill himself at 33. He said he had dreams/premonitions of his death to occur at the age of Christ’s death. Big difference.
Though to be fair, that song was a tribute to evil dead.
if your mom isn't really offended and outraged by a death metal album then it didn't reach its full purpose :)
André Robaldelli
Mate, whit the fuck are you talking about? You are a poser.
@@ProjectCreativityGuy96 ok 1st - I'm not your mate pal!
2nd - it's just cheap humor on youtube coments... if you got so triggeted you're probably a mom
you must be talking about moms in the 80s. Kids were into death metal then, who are moms and dads now, or grandparents. Im sure some of them dig death metal, especially blasphemous : D
I'm a mom and I'm still listening to deicide in 2018. Started back in the early 90s. Good to see they're still putting out great shit
What if your mom is a fan of death and black metal? Not that my mom is, but I have friends who have moms who are all into metal.
YAY ANOTHER ONE OF THESE EPISODES, these 2 are so fun together
Thanks my friend! Glad you enjoy our hangs.
@@AggressiveTendencies yeah i can tell you actually have passion for what you do, keep it up
Totally agree with Brad those first three Deicide albums are absolute death metal classics!
Hell yeah!
In my opinion, those drums were just as heavy/brutal as their beginning.
This album is great, the riffs, the solos, growling, drumming and lyrics. I'm listening for a two years and it still kick ass. It is a great album.
"Serpents of the Light" is just as good as the first 3 albums.
"Blame it on God " is one of the most bad ass death metal songs ever wrote in my opinion. Great shit.
Totally agree hey, it's an underrated album. Weird guitar tone but still has a lot of kicks ass songs, especially the title track. It's hard to keep up with the Hoffman bros trem picking start to finish.
Blame it on god is literally the song I like the least out of that album. Serpents of the light is not bad, but it's definitely a step down from the first 3.
I love you guys and your channel , I'll never stop watching you guys rule!!! I just picked up the new DEICIDE album and it's deffinatly a instant favorite for me
Thank you so much! Glad you dig the album.
New Abhorrence EP is out this week also, should have put that in shout outs. Great Review guys!
Also glad to see Necrot getting the shoutout, I certainly agree with you
0:14 - “it’s been a while”
Nice Staind reference, I fuxx with it.
Cheers for the review. Love the tag-teams. Keep up the good work.
Another awesome tag team review! Two of my favourite people! Also I love the new Bosse De Nage LP
Blayne. That Necrot album is awesome. Heard it at least 5 times till now. Man good taste.
Yeah, sure, if you hold it up to their entire back cat, it's a 2.5, against anything they've put out in the last 10 years, it's a 4.0 though. As a stand alone album of death metal, however, it's damn solid and gets a 4.5 from me. I've never lost sleep over Deicide putting out sub-par material, but maybe this is them turning a corner. It's certainly contains more memorable hooks than I've heard from them ever and anyone in general this year - maybe that's down to the fantastic new guitarist as well to some extent. Yes, it's surprised even me! I've jumped to the defence of a Deicide album, there! I've done it. 😀
Its badass
Love that Nocturnal shirt! Hopefully they'll put out another album soon.
I see Glen is looking into creating another dechristianize with those epic, melodic, dual guitar riffs.
You guys enjoying that new Bloodbath song out?
Hell Yeah
Lord Inu No Taisho stupid song title and I wasn't too sold at first but when it picks up... Holy shit. Excited for the album!
I just downloaded it ...FUUUUCK!!!
Wait... WHAT?!
🤘🤘
Got to RUclips, first thumbnail I see: Blayne and Brad (alphabetically) reviewing the new Deicide.
This is gonna be great!!
**Edit**
Cover looks sick!! \m/
However it doesn't sound like the album is that good. Gonna check it out, though.
Don't know any of the shout outs, other than Necrot, so, the weekend looks like's gonna be filled with good death metal.
Cheers!!
First Banger review I've ever seen where you didn't just throw out 4's and 5's. Nicely done!
Review the new Archgoat record, please.
Daniel Stephenson
Yeah right half of the people on this thread dont even know who the fuck archgoat is thats too underground for them
Definitely, I fucken love archgoat but I haven’t listened to the album yet.
DISCO DAN “archgoat underground”
What?
@@metall1983 who are these people who consider Archgoat underground?
The one issue I have with this record is that Jack Owen doesn't play in Deicide anymore. Such a talent I tell ya
Hilarious and accurate review. You two are great together.
Thanks so much Luke!
These reviews help me decide if I will buy an album and there often very useful and helps me even if you dislike and album I might like it and these reviews help with that a lot so thank you I'll be adding lots of albums to my shelf.
(Honestly the only album I have at the moment is Rings Of Saturn Ultra Ultra oh the curse of being a teens whos only income is birthdays Christmas and small jobs)
Might get this album seems okay
Not feeling Deicide, but you guys are awesome for the Conan shout out! They deserve a lot more attention!
I agree with you guys on the high vocals. I was bummed he did not do any.....
Necrot and Conan - great recommendations, and both great live!
I really love this album. I've had more fun listening to it than In The Minds of Evil, which was a really solid album. I love the leads on this album and Steve's drums are just amazing as always!
I love Deicide’s albums from the first to the latest
Yes! First three Deicide albums. Awesome, or could you even call them God Tier?
Glen might cringe at calling them God Tier, so for his sake let's call 'em...Satan Tier? I guess?! Thanks for watching.
Brad, you better review the new Outer Heaven album when it comes out
Man, you KNOW I would love that.
I've been listening the Bosse-de-Nage release a lot. The music and vocals conspire to smother the listener, and I love it.
Again! Nice review! You guys rule. BEER Time! Oh wait no, it's only 10:30am, still gotta work! LOL
ROOT BEER TIME!
18.05 pm here. Defenitly beer time!! Cheers 😆😅
have a hoot
The skate video analogy is spot on. Speaks to me personally on multiple levels
Legion is my favourite Deicide album. I haven't been able to take the last few albums by them seriously. I can take all of Immolation's stuff seriously.
Dude, yeah, 'Legion' is my favourite too. Thanks for watching.
Immolation proves that you can bash Christianity for 30 years without sounding cringe. Deicide should take notice, because some of the shit they wrote is laughable
What if God is Satan all along and Glen Benton goes to heaven
"he deserves it"
I'd rather die than go to heaven
=))) i just crack up imagining his frustration and then the sound of his future christian band
What if God is God and Satan is Satan well Glen is going to fry.
what i love is that, upon being asked what he’d say if he died and God turned out to be real and he sat at the pearly gates about to be judged, he said he’d say “oops”
These guys must have a mastering band together. They know it all!
I respect their voice on many albums where i normally would not, one because i feel they really are into the music that is reviewed and two they introduce me to albums that i would not really be exposed to!
Are you talking about us? If so, thank you so much!
Great job guys 🤘. Keep up the good shit !
Thanks so much, Robert!
I think this album sounds like Once Upon the Cross had a baby with The Stench of Redemption...I think it's really good...really catchy. It's not an album you can just listen to once or twice to get in my opinion. The more you listen the better it is. Also I think it's pretty much as advertised by Benton...They wanted to create a catchy, simpler album with hooks and I think that is exactly what was accomplished. Definitely the best album by Deicide since The Stench of Redemption I think.
You guys are nuts. The album is solid.
The clearly miss Jack Owen. Jack brought a lot of creativity and fresh air to the band for the few albums that he was with the band. I could say the same about Cannibal Corpse.
Review Terrorvision next week :D
Aborted fucking rule. I certainly hope we do so.
Aggressive Tendencies
Fuck yeah! :D
@@AggressiveTendencies they'll be in Perth Australia next week.
Jealous! Enjoy.
As soon I saw the Outer Heaven shirt, I was like yo ! Also Infernal Coil
YO THIS GUY HAS GOOD TASTE! Thanks for the love.
Yeah I love these ''co-op'' reviews, everything they say sounds a lot more intellectual for some reason!
Thanks so much! It's nice to be told I'm intellectual every once in a while because usually I'm like the big GOOF!
Keep it up with the 2 man reviews yall are very entertaining lol
Y’all didn’t even shout out the new Infernal Coil record on Profound Lore. MAYBE a review soon instead!?
Bruhhhh that album rocks. Fuck. We blew it!
Aggressive Tendencies LMAO Glad you enjoyed it Brad! Maybe next time, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Seems like it’d be right up your alley
This guy's voices sound like he's taking a shit
There are some moments where it feels phoned in, but I'm enjoying the hell out of this album. Is it gonna make it in my top 10 albums of the year? Probably not. Is it one of their better albums in a while? I think so; the last album I really enjoyed by them was The Stench of Redemption. I'll give it a few more listens and then rewatch this to see if I change my mind.
Deicide is Slayer of Death Metal. They are the go to band of the genre that exemplifies pure brutality with no compromise.
Couldnt that be said for dying fetus, cannibal corpse and a bunch of others aswell
@@fredriksvard2603 Deicide had more early influence. So the Slayer comparison is more justified I'd say
@@fredriksvard2603 they all are brutal on their own thing , dying fetus started being grotesque , they changed getting political , deicide very satanic and ragey , and Cannibal being very gore , sexist , and phsyco lyrics
Yeah dogs barking for an hour.
THIS ALBUM IS AN AMAZING DEATH METAL ALBUM.. just saying that right up front. Never really got into Deicide up until now and I’ve heard of them, but never really listened to them until now. I LOVE this record. It’s a road trip album for me. i love the riffs and how honest the lyrics and solos are. I dunno man, I’ve heard a lot of great death metal bands these days, but it’s nice to hear a band, that’s been around since the late 80’s show all these kids how to do it right. I don’t agree with the reviewers here… at all. From what I do know, this band is legendary, and it’s nice to hear a record from a legendary band put out a record that sounds amazing.
More Melody it seems ... Love this new album!!!! The riffing is brutal as can be expected with Deicide. Glenn was more reserved with his vocal approach but that doesn't bring the overall value down. If your a die-hard Deicide fan you will like this.
My favorite part was "Oh he doesn't like God. We should take him to church." Says Mom. That was hilarious.
I have an idea. Double review and tag team the new Revocation and the new Anaal Nathrakh which are both released on the same day which is also my birthday.
Hey, happy birthday coming up!
Glen Burton's vocals are fucking amazing. Probably the best in the genre if you ask me. Brutal as fuck but you can actually understand the words. Sick as hell!!!!
great review guys
I actually enjoy this album a lot more than I thought I would. Somehow "Crawled From the Shadows" was so catchy that it got stuck in my head for a week.
Sweet shoutouts today!
Aw shit, Blayne's Nocturnal shirt is fucking sick. Want one.
We need more anti-Islamic bands. That would be actually brave and someting new. The whole Satan thing is mostly overused or generic. Will check out the record, it seems solid. Just solid. New Irreversible Mechanism rips btw. Really good prog/tech death band! And I wasn't aware Conan released a new record, gonna fix that!
I agree! - Have you heard of Al-Namrood? They're a Saudi Arabian black metal band, that have anti-islamic lyrics. They have to release their records through a Canadian label since they're technically breaking Saudi law by making the music they make.
We absolutely do, but I bet everyone would lose their shit and no one would want to book or sign them. Look at what happened with Taake.
Here's the thing, most bands go for anti-Christian themes because they were raised with christianity either directly in their families or in the society they live in. If you want anti-Islamic bands, your'e going to have to wait for bands that are comprised of people who have actually experienced that lifestyle. Al-Namrood is the only one that is somewhat known in the underground scene.
Kei Kurono yeah I know, I live in a very Christian country hehe. Still, imagine if Behemoth went anti Islam. That would be super interesting right?
Not really, first we are all in the west being affected by islam now especially europe but you dont have to experience or live in something to make songs about it. Like all the viking, medieval, ww2 bands and so on.
id give it 3 skulls. like the.... genericness of the vocals doesn't irk me. Blayne hit the nail on the head with what he said and it just made me rather disappointed. the song writing is really god damn lame. Instead of putting the lyrics in a more real aspect, they just go I love satan and am gonna kill god, falalalala. like...really? were they high when they wrote this? actually nvm. I know the answer to that...
When I first saw "falalalala" I saw falafel and got hungry. DAMN YOU! Thanks for watching.
what in satans name is "falafel"???
I mean, yeah sure it IS generic, but isn't that what Deicide has always done?
Besides, Glen wouldn't listen to anyone telling him to change his lyrical style
and/or content. Might as well tell Cannibal Corpse to sing about happy
things for a change. Metal isn't known for conforming.
Infernal Coil's new album that came out this week "Within A World Forgotten" blows this out of the water.
Yes, yes it does. Band is awesome.
I like the commentary and in my opinion a solid review.. Old school Fl. Death Metal fcn rules... Good job guys
And I'm loving the Raging Death comp. In the background (very rare)
Those first three albums set the tone for vicious heavy fast death metal.
They were on the way to becoming one of the biggest bands in extreme metal, but as we all know personalities clashed.
Lol
I will add Serpents Of The Light to the must have Deicide albums. "I am no one" is a "groovy" death metal song. Serpents of the light, blame it on god, and slave to the cross are great great death metal songs. But i am a fan of the first four Deicide albums for sure. These guys always sound good live.
Glen is not even a Satanist. King Diamond now that is a real Satanist
Deicide New album is mad I love it it’s still decide And the video clip is mad
Best album since "Legion" imho. Might be tied with Legion. Deicide keeps on surprising. Cant wait for the new album thats supposedly in the works. Maybe their best one is yet coming. I cant think of a single band like this. Definitely the kings if extreme metal, that keep on delivering. PS Steve is the most underrated drummer in death metal by far.
Its impressive that deicide could make an album this good after all those years , also glen doesnt disappoint as always
Can you guys review the Egyptian band Crescent? Thanks for Outer Heaven!
That Nocturnal shirt is awesome!
I waited for this Overkill review like i was waiting for the new Deicide album...OH FUCK
Sounds like a pretty fair review. I've never really followed Deicide (no real reason, just haven't) but from what I heard it sounds pretty straight up. I don't mind straight up, but I prefer an album that tries to do something besides "not being the bottom of the barrel".
Thanks homie! Much love.
How did the new Irreversible Mechanism album not get mentioned???
“Y-you s-said c-core!”
Great review, guys!
Thanks Crab!
"Separate the art from the artist" Its an important motto to live by.
I did. I've spoken to Glen and he's a nice dude, but I had to put that out of mind when I was thinking about this album.
Great video guys, just one thing I noticed, Boss de nage is on the flenser
their fourth album, Serpents of the Light is completely underrated. Some black metal influences prop up on that album, it's a cool record
Cool! I'll have to give it some more listens. It didn't stick with me as much as the first three at first, but admittedly it's been a while...it's always good to revisit. Thanks fo rwatching
Typing this before I finish the video...
I felt the opening track, 'One With Satan,' was pretty much a Deicide Medley. I could hear riffs (at least extremely similar) from multiple other Deicide tracks spanning across multiple albums. Most notably, 'Witness Of Death' from their To Hell With God album.
That being said I liked the entire album and the song but it just threw me off course a little. Opening with that song just put a bad taste in my mouth from the get go. However they definitely redeemed themselves.
Anyway... back to the video.
great comeback!!
You guys do an awesome job keep it up Metal 4 Life
And review Seige of Power Warning Blast
Glen satanic benton is back?
He never left
Yup. He's no longer a born again Christian
Great review, nope it’s deicide what do people expect this album is cool don’t care what anybody says 5 skulls for me
That's what I was thinking; it's Decide, what do they expect?
The first one I watched was the Catharsis one, so I'm pretty happy about this
Hey! Thanks for sticking around and all the support!
7:46 Bradley's best one-liner, lol
Hahaha thanks man!
Glenn Benton was a fucking gentleman when I saw them. Talked to him after the show. The dude gave me a Deicide pick right out of his wallet. Say what you want about the dude, but he was nothing but cordial when I met him.
Chris LaVey he is a cool guy ive met him too. as long as you aren't Bob Larson u should be fine if u meet Satan Spawn the Cacodemon!
Yeah, he's a nice guy. I've interviewed him. Doesn't mean his music is above criticism, you know?
Aggressive Tendencies ? I never mentioned the critic'ing. dont mi nd it. my only response is the newer stuff dont have the Bible Basher type of humor that's been missing, or lines like "hypocrite bible puncher!" I miss those zingers he used to put in. he did say "missed the call from your god" which was great.
If ya’ll like “tag team reviews” you should check us out. We cut out all the crap you can find on Wikipedia and just tell you if the albums are good or not. We also listen to the albums a crap load of times before actually reviewing it unlike other channels who listen once and then slap a score on it. We also don’t read scripts. Everything is off the cuff and genuine. We are currently reviewing this album as well but our First Impressions are up on the channel already as well as a reaction to the official video for Defying the Sacred. Keep them heads bangin metalheads! 🤘🏻
Great channel, hail the Two Toe Tags!
yo Zorgdrager, the first Deicide album was my very first death metal album back in 1999 or 2000
Hell ya! That rocks. How'd you get it? Randomly buy the CD or?
i found it in a used bin at the same music store I shop at today! I knew who they were and was really stoked to locate some of their stuff in a time when it was tough to find metal in stores
When are vital remains gonna have another album, their last one w Benton on vocals was decent
Will you be doing an overkill review to Monstrosity's new one?
Glen did an interview on the Into The Combine podcast - seems like a decent dude. I'm sure he has fun riding his motorcycles
I also interviewed him. He is a nice dude! Doesn't mean I'll love the album, unfortunately.
“Oh that’s cute, maybe we should take him to church” = gold
Agree with this review. Great leads, didnt like much of how the vocals were used and they were there for a long time most of the time. I felt, the music should have been given more chance. The leads were definitely fucking amazing! Wasnt much fan of the sound. Missing the loud and sharp guitars that I heard in earlier Deicide, growing up
Thanks so much for watching. Yeah, the leads were cool but the music backing it didn't do it for me. It was almost too happy.
When Deicide is too light?.. i hit that subscribe button so hard!
Are you going to review Cliff Richard's new album?
Just listened to "slowly we rot", obituary.. brings me back to the good old skating days
