Respect to Dylan for standing by his opinion even in the face of Blayne’s admittedly accurate criticisms and general community feeling towards Disturbed. Good review
"It sounds like Disturbed is stumbling around in a room full of acoustic guitars looking for another sound of silence" Never has an analogy been so spot on.
No mention of the new Horrendous album?! C'mon guys! It's bloody amazing. (Also, I like the guy, Dylan. I think he's doing a great job on the channel.)
They'll probably have a year-end list for albums they missed and I hope Idol makes the cut, because it's probably my AOTY, if not at least in the top 5.
I didn't even know they were working on a new album...what a pleasant(?) surprise. BUT, Blayne and Dylan in the same video is what I've been waiting for.
I remember when their first record came out and some dude gave me the CD (probably from Napster or Kazaa ... ) and he was raving about it like he just heard Raining Blood for the first time. I put it in my stereo and I have hated them since. Never spoke to that guy again. Thanks for Castle recommendation Blayne! That shit is dope!
HOLD FAST I actually was impressed with their fist album and the whole Nu Metal movement because I was 13 AND that was my intro to metal....and then I discover 80s trash metal and never went back lol
Haha stupid, Disturbed got so big because their first album was actually brilliant. It’s the gradual decline leading up to this hot garbage that have pushed metal fans away.
I love this album so far. It's my mainstream guilty pleasure and they're still one of my favorite bands. Then I'll go back to death metal and other stuff you guys actually like. Oh, and symphonic metal.
You guys are fucking amazing. Im a big Disturbed fan, but I think i find my rating of this album falling somewhere between both of you. Love you guys. Blayne, keep on riling people up. That shit is hilarious. You never let me down.
This is the best tag team combination you guys have ever done. Great job! Keep it up Dylan you already climbed to the top of the best reviewers on this channel
Great review, as always! I couldn't agree more on Blane's skull rating. Also big thank you for mentioning Castle, never heard that name before but dude they are crazy good!
I feel as though the band was up front before the album came out saying it was going to be a more acoustic album then their normal path. Of course the album was only okay, but i feel that people still weren't expecting what we got... me being one of them. Hoping to see what we will see from them down the road
After having to hear new Disturbed, I IMMEDIATELY had to put on The Greatest Hit Of Disturbed. It was like therapy, and I feel better about myself for doing it.
Friday and I get home from work super-early; still plenty of beer left in the fridge; load RUclips and there's a new Banger review. I don't even mind that it's Disturbed, today was a good day.
Like Blayne, born in mid 80's found friends that liked Sepultura and Slayer in the mid-90's by the time Disturbed and Mudvayne came out it was like baby metal.... well not "Baby Metal", but you know
I never understood the whole gateway band thing. I jumped right into the pool : Megadeth, Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Morbid Angel, Pantera, Marduk, 1349, Behemoth, Machinehead, Napalm Death, Kataklysm, Sepultura, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Hate Eternal, ETC. I listened to their discographies completely out of order also. I was just enjoying all types of metal. I never vibed with Disturbed or Numetal overall. It holds nostalgia value but thats it.
Instantly clicked when i saw Blayne in the thumbnail after i read it was disturbed he was reviewing. Needed a real good laugh and he never dissapoints.
I never thought I'd see Blayne review an album he'd want to review even less than Machine Head. But, here we are. Now, let's see him review the new Korn whenever it comes out
Blayne is THE MAN! I watch Banger TV's stuff whether it feautures Blayne in the episode or not, but damn it, Blayne just gets me grinning. I'd GLADLY buy him a few beers if I ever bump into him somewhere.
Just subscibed to the channel, its great to see people actually telling things as it is and not just panderring to the corperate big-wigs. Thanks for such an honest review of a album that i very nearly wasted my hard earned money on.
Pretty good review. I was fairly disappointed with this new Disturbed album. I honestly hope Disturbed decides to tour and play 'The Sickness' album from start to finish in 2020 for the 20th anniversary. I'd rather see that than see them play new stuff.
I don’t know if it’s because we’re lockhorns deprived but i enjoyed the contrasting views on this album that provided for an interesting dialogue (locking horns XD). I consider myself to be similar to Dylan, i like disturbed and i’ve gotten into metal through gateway bands, but from the excerpts and summaries I’m not impressed with Disturbed’s latest effort so I agree with Blayne’s criticisms. Even though I haven’t listened to the album i’m wondering if Blayne’s rating was too harsh. I have a hard time believing that this album was worst than Machine head’s latest and Suicide Silence’s albums. In summary, BRING LOCKHORNS BACK! Skype people in and do lockhorns global!
I listened to it briefly and well, it's hard to judge. There is no cohesion in the album, as was mentioned. It's one mediocre song after another which could all carry a 1 1/2 too 2 1/2 star rating on their own, but that, in my eyes (and I think Blayne would agree with me here) simply doesn't equate a good (or not terrible in this case) album. Imo, even if the music is utter crap, an Album can easily carry a 2 star rating just on the musical progression and contrast within the Album. Sure, it's a harsh rating, but not unjustified.
Good to see dylan in the video ...As the banger team wasnt actually having a prog person ....it was more death , doom , heavy and thrash and power...Now the team looks super complete.....Hail banger tv
Katatonia is a good gateway band. No harsh vocals and generally easy to digest, but still fucking fantastic. I always use them as a recommendation to get someone in to harder music or just better hard rock. They are good for showing butt rock fans the light...
Why didn't you tell me Soulfly just released their new album? Also, did you guys review the new High On Fire? Disturbed is a little too extreme for my liking...
You guys should totally put YOUR music out there. This album is amazing if you actually listen to it. Vocals especially are awesome. Ininvited guest is badass!!
New album....suuucckkkksss!!! Its not even disturbed...its like a David Draiman ego project. They get into the recording studio and make "Are you Ready" which is a great song. Then David says he wants to make a softer song...ok. Then they make another song. And next thing you know 6 months later and the album is done and David is sitting alone in the recording studio like..."Hey guys listen to this" and hes all alone. The band had left months ago. The majority of the album sounds nothing like Disturbed or even a rock band. Hell my favorite song is the Sam de Jong remix...lol
it's very cute how dylan laughed at blayne's nonsense, id love to see yall do more side by side reviews! also cool to see polyphia get a shoutout! new levels new devils is excellent
The great disturbed era ended with asylum. Anything after that did nothing for me. And it breaks my heart to say that because I used to really love them.
The problem I have with Disturbed's cover is that for one it is a legendary song; It feels dark and has so many dimensions to it and it is played quite simply through the genres of old school folk music. What makes this work is that it is called the sound of "Scilence" not the sound of an epic orchestra... Disturbed.
I personally would have added Sentenced - The Cold White Light as a record to someone who is wanting to break through the gateway. Radio friendly alterna-metal with dark themes, as you all probably know already. Showed it to a buddy who's favorite band is A7x, and he really dug it, if that says anything.
I love this album, also you gotta listen to those lyrics a bit closely, No More does NOT talk about society going to shit but about war and how the government funds it and the song basically calls for an action to stop that, hence the "No more defending the lies Behind the never-ending war, It's time to make them realize, We will no longer be their whore" part of the song, the "whore" would be a reference to basically us whose money is used for funding war. Most if not all of the songs in this album have deep meanings about what currently goes on in the world and also what many people are going through in their lives.
Everyone ive ever known whos into underground music uses Disturbed as a baseline for all jokes about metal & as an example of what style of metal not to play.
Great review for an album that honestly Banger should not be reviewing. There is a line of which somethings should be considered too mainstream for the channel.
Glad you liked the review. We know some viewers share your views but we consider it part of our job here to cover these records. Metal music is not just underground stuff.
I'd love to see more reviews of popular metal bands more often, rather than average death/black metal band #52 all the time. Gotta balance it out a little more often.
Well I, for one, have loved Disturbed since the first album, and think they've only grown more amazing over the years. I love this album, four and a half out of five skulls from me, and totally appreciate them experimenting with a softer sound. Would be better though if things were arranged differently, and there was a bit of taper from the harder songs into the softer ones.
I love them too and David Draiman is a super cool person and great singer. This just wasn't a favorite for me cuz of like you said the way it was arranged is messed up
Would love to see Draiman just go full power metal or just anything new and different from Disturbed. I hoped he was going off in a new direction w/Device, alas...the power of the Disturbed brand. Good weightlifting music, though (minus the ballads...).
"There's always a new basement." I cringed during every song clip but the review was fun. Dylan made for a good unwitting straight man to Blayne's jokes. As for Disturbed being a gateway band for some....well, if it make you happy but you don't have to sing about the first girl to give you a tug for the rest of your life.
So I bought this because it was a new Disturbed CD. Didn't hear anything on the disk before except of course Sound of Silence. Was very weird, and a bit confusing. I played it at work, and a friend of mine and I were just..confused. Not a bad album, but just weird.
every once in a while it's good to have a "gateway band" discussion as a balm for the butthurt that comes from valid criticism. good on you guys for having this discussion in an appropriate context - excellent review. i, too, am a fan of *some* early disturbed - and i think you guys nailed every relevant point in regards to this band/album.
Immortalized was dope, but almost half the album being acoustic? I mean, I would like acoustic music from metal bands to still sound like... metal(ish) music (think Rob Scallon and Leo Moracchioli's "Heaviest Banjo in the Universe" cover, but acoustic guitar), but damn. That one song they palyed sounded like it was gonna be dope, but still. Acoustic songs are a little boring most times. Only Serj Tankian's first solo album Elect the Dead had some cool acoustic cover songs of his own tracks from the same album without changing the progression or the tone of those songs too much.
Blayne reviewing a Disturbed album is something I never knew I needed
"...then why are there 3 more?"
Lmfao
You can hear someone from the crew laughing behind the scenes when he says that
Nice contrast between the reviewers. The review was interesting to watch
"I will not be getting up." Blaine at his finest.
I love Dylan cracking up every single time Blayne makes a joke
Respect to Dylan for standing by his opinion even in the face of Blayne’s admittedly accurate criticisms and general community feeling towards Disturbed. Good review
"It sounds like Disturbed is stumbling around in a room full of acoustic guitars looking for another sound of silence"

Nah it wasn't that good, some would say it was Horrendous
It was mediocre IMO. Proggy. The new prog guy should review it. Not as good as their old stuff.
The album got a shout out mention in one of the more recent review videos. I think Brad was the featured reviewer
new Horrendous is AOTY for many. It is indeed very good
Blayne and Dylan are awesome. I love these tag team reviews. Keep up the good work guys!
I didn't even know they were working on a new album...what a pleasant(?) surprise. BUT, Blayne and Dylan in the same video is what I've been waiting for.
I saw Disturbed in the title and Blayne in the thumbnail...then I knew this was gonna be fun!
Should have reviewed Ritual.
Agree, are we actually going to ignore that album?
REVIEW RITUAL
Ritual is badass
Agree
Dylan, Thanks allot for your suggestion on Nothing More , great band and thanks to you i'm going to see them when they come to town.
Raining blood is shit.. you'd stop talking to someone over 1 band.. fucking stupid...
HOLD FAST I actually was impressed with their fist album and the whole Nu Metal movement because I was 13 AND that was my intro to metal....and then I discover 80s trash metal and never went back lol
Fear is a good song from that album.
Well... You're stupid.
Haha stupid, Disturbed got so big because their first album was actually brilliant. It’s the gradual decline leading up to this hot garbage that have pushed metal fans away.
I love this album so far. It's my mainstream guilty pleasure and they're still one of my favorite bands.

Disturbed belongs in the lost episode of Metal Evolution: Soccer Mom Metal.
Misanthropic IX They make what I like to call “WWE PPV Music” lol!!!!
more like high school mallcore poser rock.
using the term "metal" very lightly there
the band has stated several times over the years that they are a rock or hard rock band, not metal.
Even my mom thinks this album sucks.
This is the best tag team combination you guys have ever done. Great job! Keep it up Dylan you already climbed to the top of the best reviewers on this channel
I like how the tag team hosts represent different generations, while also having sub-genre biases. Makes for more interesting reviews.
Great review, as always! I couldn't agree more on Blane's skull rating. Also big thank you for mentioning Castle, never heard that name before but dude they are crazy good!
@BangerTV this is a winning combo for tag team reviews. Let’s see more of this
I feel as though the band was up front before the album came out saying it was going to be a more acoustic album then their normal path. Of course the album was only okay, but i feel that people still weren't expecting what we got... me being one of them. Hoping to see what we will see from them down the road
Although I can't stand Disturbed, I salute Banger TV for not being musical elitists and truly reviewing all styles of heavy music. Well done.
Was hoping for a Soulfly review
Feel sorry for 'Requiem for a dream' Jared Leto having to argue on the affirmative for Disturbed. that was tough. Blayne killed as always
Insect Politics “Reqiun for a Dream” J Leto lmaoooo... I can’t unsee that now! Thanks mate.
After having to hear new Disturbed, I IMMEDIATELY had to put on The Greatest Hit Of Disturbed. It was like therapy, and I feel better about myself for doing it.
Lol that parody is great... I sometimes have a hard time listening to Disturbed because the parady is so true, most songs follow similar structure.
Friday and I get home from work super-early; still plenty of beer left in the fridge; load RUclips and there's a new Banger review.
I don't even mind that it's Disturbed, today was a good day.
TGIF!

Dylan trying not to laugh is the funniest thing abt this video.
Great review, boys. Kudos.
Blayne's reviews on bands he hates are the best. Can't decide which was funnier, this or his cradle of filth review
I never thought I'd see Blayne review an album he'd want to review even less than Machine Head. But, here we are. Now, let's see him review the new Korn whenever it comes out
Did anyone anyone related the strange similarities with the Are you Ready of Korn blind's song, with the Disturbed one?
Blayne is everyone's spirit animal.
First was introduced to Disturbed in person. About 10 feet, or maybe even less from them when they were on stage at Ozzfest 2000.
Pretty good review. I was fairly disappointed with this new Disturbed album. I honestly hope Disturbed decides to tour and play 'The Sickness' album from start to finish in 2020 for the 20th anniversary. I'd rather see that than see them play new stuff.
Love this channel i bought thou because of your review blayn keep up the good work guys
My wife loves Grey's and pop/dance music and she rolled her eyes at that clip. Thought they should know.
If they had a comeback album could we get a go away album?
I don’t know if it’s because we’re lockhorns deprived but i enjoyed the contrasting views on this album that provided for an interesting dialogue (locking horns XD). "Disturbed for me was kind of that band where it sounded like a dude was banging a duck"
-Blayne "God" Smith
Good to see dylan in the video ...As the banger team wasnt actually having a prog person ....it was more death , doom , heavy and thrash and power...Now the team looks super complete.....Hail banger tv
That new Outre Tombe record is so fuckin' gnarly. Thank you.
Love this video, and despite my overwhelming agreement with Blayne, Dylan made some great points. I'm still laughing, so I'll watch it again!
How can you list Katatonia and disturbed in the same sentence? They're nothing alike
Alex Fout Yeah, what the actual ____? Disturbed are nu metal, Katatonia are doom metal and they’re actually worth your time.
Katatonia is a good gateway band. No harsh vocals and generally easy to digest, but still fucking fantastic. I always use them as a recommendation to get someone in to harder music or just better hard rock. They are good for showing butt rock fans the light...
@@DraugrGrog no harsh vocals? Um dude have you listened to their first two albums?
Of course. Have you listened to everything else in their discography? Ha. You get what I'm saying.
Katatonia is a gateway band? Seriously? Lol.
Doesn't the track they played first sound a little bit like a american version of New Noise by Refused?
When is Lock Horns coming back? Did it get banned because of Cannibal Cam`s shorts?
Why didn't you tell me Soulfly just released their new album?
Also, did you guys review the new High On Fire? Disturbed is a little too extreme for my liking...
Blane dude, you gona review the upcoming PESTE NOIRE to even out the ideological scale after that Neck Beard Death-camp caper you pulled ?!
One of bangers best reviews, great job!

I've been a fan from the start i liked this album alot glad i bought it
“We wrote every song to be a hit”
See, this is what happens when you try too hard.
I finally figured out Blayne's review style, it consists of constantly seeming like you need to take a dump.
it's very cute how dylan laughed at blayne's nonsense, id love to see yall do more side by side reviews! also cool to see polyphia get a shoutout! new levels new devils is excellent
Love seeing my name at the end!
The "no more" song, sounded like a copy of "just died on your arms tonight" , just I notice that?
The great disturbed era ended with asylum. Anything after that did nothing for me. And it breaks my heart to say that because I used to really love them.
I'm glad my metal gateway was Master of Puppets and South of Heaven and not "Owwww ah ah ah ah".
The Great Southern Trendkill here - not too bad either :)
"hey guys the sound of silence cover was really popular so lets make an album full of songs like it" - Disturbed 2018
The problem I have with Disturbed's cover is that for one it is a legendary song; It feels dark and has so many dimensions to it and it is played quite simply through the genres of old school folk music. What makes this work is that it is called the sound of "Scilence" not the sound of an epic orchestra... Disturbed.
You do know they were planning on doing an acoustic album for a very long time 6:25
Katatonia is excellent gateway metal. If you start with their most recent albums and go backwards you'll eventually get to Opeth.
100% agree! Great review guys. 👍🏻
I personally would have added Sentenced - The Cold White Light as a record to someone who is wanting to break through the gateway. Radio friendly alterna-metal with dark themes, as you all probably know already. Showed it to a buddy who's favorite band is A7x, and he really dug it, if that says anything.
Jesus Christ, Blayne...I thought we were friends. Guess this review answers that. Damn.
Nobody should be exposed to this record.
Necrovortex is one of the funnest albums of the year. Great shout out.
Disturbed’s songs have variation.
Also don’t stop at ten thousand fists, asylum, indestructible, and the lost children are also great.
Blayne dude! You are so Hilarious with your reactions. Keep it up! Let's it some beers if you are ever in Mtl :)
Dude, Born in 86, thats the same year that i started going to see bands play live. You make me feel OLD LOL
So when the new tool album comes out wil 3-4 of you guys tag team review it?
8:35 Does anyone have a source for this?
I love this album, also you gotta listen to those lyrics a bit closely, No More does NOT talk about society going to shit but about war and how the government funds it and the song basically calls for an action to stop that, hence the "No more defending the lies
Behind the never-ending war,
It's time to make them realize, We will no longer be their whore" part of the song, the "whore" would be a reference to basically us whose money is used for funding war. Most if not all of the songs in this album have deep meanings about what currently goes on in the world and also what many people are going through in their lives.
Do disease by beartooth
It came out a little while ago but I really want to see your opinion on it
I love disturbed but I only like two songs on this album, what happened 😞
I'd compare Evolution to ReLoad more than the Black album
Agreed
YEAAAAAAA
NOTHING MORE got a shout out from BANGER!
The self titled album is a damn masterpiece ❤
Ayyy nothing more, nice shout out
Everyone ive ever known whos into underground music uses Disturbed as a baseline for all jokes about metal & as an example of what style of metal not to play.

Smart musicians think alike. :)
Great review for an album that honestly Banger should not be reviewing. There is a line of which somethings should be considered too mainstream for the channel.
Glad you liked the review. We know some viewers share your views but we consider it part of our job here to cover these records. Metal music is not just underground stuff.
honestly, you guys should ignore the underground stuff just because it'll piss off the hipsters.
I'd love to see more reviews of popular metal bands more often, rather than average death/black metal band #52 all the time. Gotta balance it out a little more often.
@@joshlauze1944 they dont even review that many death metal or black metal bands

I can't stop listening to the new Outre-Tombe album. Shout out to the shout out
dylan looks like agent cooper from twin peaks gone under cover as a metal head.
