Good line for practicing pick accuracy, staccato and rhythm (i decided to use a pick to emulate a little bit of the attack on the original song, you can use fingers). The track uses a keyboard to create a bass synth. I didn't go for trying to recreate that sound, and more for sitting the bass well on the mix. Sorry if it's not that audible. The line itself centers more on the tonic of each chord (except for the inversion on the chorus), marking it with octave movements on some parts. About harmony we're on a clear A Major with some issues:
A Major (F, C, G are #)
I A (A C# E)
II Bm (B D F#) or Bmadd9 (B D F# C#) or Bm7 (B D F# A) or Bm9 (B D F# A C#) for this case (extended harmony, coloring)
III C#m (C# E G#) or C#m7 (C# E G# B) for this case (extended harmony)

As a drummer I always keep humming different bass lines to this song. I think it is the perfect song to practice all sorts of different bass lines and techniques.

Thanks for uploading. It's funny, I never realised just how much the bass featured in this song, till I played along to your tabs. A great example of less is more, just enough bass to make the song work, but not overdoing it.

I'm only an amateur bassist but I play electric guitar for many years and as every musician, professional or not, I'm interested in how a real bass fits on the mix. And you did a really great job!! Thanks for sharing!!
Which raises the question, why stick with the bass synth. Sure it sounds “cleaner” but the actually instrument gives so much sonic nuance that’s lost when you go with clean synthetic bass lines. You don’t realize how clever the bass lines are until you hear it actually played.
