Metallica - Of Wolf And Man - Bass Cover with Play Along Tabs

- Опубликовано: 18 авг 2021
- Metallica's Black Album is 30 years old 😱 To celebrate, here's a bass cover of another of my favourite songs from the Black Album, Of Wolf And Man, with Play Along in video Tabs.
The tab is for a 5 string bass in standard tuning, however I only play 4 notes on the B string after listening to the isolated bass and drum tracks. Jason used 4 string basses for live performances of this song, so just transpose those notes if you don't have a 5 string bass or a B string.
Song: Of Wolf And Man
Artist: Metallica
Album: The Black Album
Original Bassist: Jason Newsted
Bass: @OfficialSpector Legend Classic 6 String
Strings: MTD Stainless Strings
Bass Signal: Clean DI signal from bass to Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
Tuning: Standard (B E A D G)
Of Wolf and Man is the ninth track on Metallica’s fifth studio album “Metallica”, or, dubbed by fans, “The Black Album”.
Of Wolf and Man follows a human shapeshifting into a wolf at full moon, told through the shapeshifter’s perspective.
Of Wolf and Man was written by James Hetfield and composed by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett. It was premiered live on December 7, 1991, in Chicago, IL and as of June 24th 2021, it has been played live 246 times.
Of Wolf And Man Lyrics
Off through the new day's mist I run
Off from the new day's mist I have come
I hunt therefore I am
Harvest the land
Taking of the fallen lamb
Off through the new day's mist I run
Off from the new day's mist I have come
We shift pulsing with the earth
Company we keep
Roaming the land while you sleep
Shape shift, nose to the wind
Shape shift, feeling I've been
Move swift, all senses clean
Earth's gift, back to the meaning (back to the meaning) of life
Bright is the moon, high in starlight
Chill is the air, cold as steel tonight
We shift, call of the wild
Fear in your eyes, it's later than you realized
Shape shift, nose to the wind
Shape shift, feeling I've been
Move swift, all senses clean
Earth's gift back to the meaning (back to the meaning) of life
I feel I change
Back to a better day
(Shape shift) hair stands on the back of my neck
(Shape shift) in wildness is the preservation of the world
So seek the wolf and not the man
Shape shift, nose to the wind
Shape shift, feeling I've been
Move swift, all senses clean
Earth's gift
Back to the meaning (back to the meaning) of wolf and man, yeah

I have a Spector euro 4 xl. What’s with the second strap?
There's 2 other comments discussing this in this same comments section bro 👍
That bass sound is really tight🤘
🤘
Well....that was nice and crunchy. Keep 'em coming!!
Jason RULES!! ♥
Holy cow man ! Sounds so badass !!! well done ! 🤟😈🤟
Thanks man 🤘😈
Killer tone 🤘🏻
YES! you definitely grabbed some stuff I missed.
Easily done as I only realised I've been playing the bass line incorrectly for nearly 20 years 2 days ago 🤣🙈
Awesome!
hooo Yeah..... suscrito
Fantastic cover! Would love to see you do a Pantera cover too
Thanks! I love some Pantera so will defo do a cover in the future, just need to decide which song 🤔
I'm hella early!!
Hell yh🔥🔥
Orion!!!!!!!!!!!
Ace of spades by lemmy
Man , this spector tone is fucking hostile
Just curious, how do you set up your straps? It appears that your current setup helps distribute the weight to both shoulders, as opposed to one... what exactly are you doing?
Exactly that, using 2 of the exact same strap, both angled different at the strap locks. Helps takes the weight off my injured left shoulder when playing for long periods of time. I got the idea from @InsaneDeathMachine 🤘
@@JamesDixon Thanks; If i ever get a bass over 10 pounds, I'm fs trying this!
Great video! Do you take requests?
Thanks! Sure, am working my way through a list of requests I've had but will get to it at somepoint 👍
@@JamesDixon oh ok awesome
Two straps??
That heavy is that spector
The spectors all good, it's my left shoulder that is the problem 🙈 had an shoulder impingement that has taken nearly 2 years to get over, getting there now though and have gone back to using just one strap as you'll see in my latest videos 🙌👍
What equipment do you use and what are your settings on your bass and amp?
All gear listed in the description sir 👌⬆️
I have the same bass and a hartke amp. No pedals. Trying to dial in my sound closer to what you've got going. Any tips for tone?
Run the EQ flat, distort the input gain and beat the crap out of the bass 👌
Dude is this legit just DI tone?
No amp sims or effects chain?
Yup yup, straight in, just a bit of input distortion from my DI unit from playing too hard.
@@JamesDixon Nice. Watching your Black Album covers has inspired me to strip back my pedal board to see just what's possible with little or even no pedals. Mighty tone.
