Just bought a 2024 TRD ORP premium in Nautical blue. Had a 2018 TRD ORP and traded it in back in 2022 when gas prices went up and resale values were crazy high on pretty much everything. Missed it so much I bought a brand new one in December 2023. A classic body on frame SUV that can go anywhere and is built to last. Love the channel! keep up the amazing work!
I feel like the 24 4Runner is the last true Toyota remaining. Been chewing on that and decided to put a deposit on a TRD Pro in Underground today. I’m sure there will be teething issues with the revamped turbo models so I wanted to grab a model with proven reliability before it was too late. On a side note, I just sold my Rubicon 392 to purchase my 4Runner. As crazy as that sounds, the amount of power the 392 makes in the Jeep chassis made me very nervous for the long term durability. Fun as hell, but living with that amount of excessive power made me appreciate the longevity that slow and steady will get you.
Wise choice. If the new gen turns out to be better, your 24 trd pro will retain a ton of it's value, because it's the last of the V6 pros. You can trade up anytime you want.

@@josephpmelvin6813 we were so close to buying a solar octane 4Runner but the dealership up here was forcing certain options and one option that I will NOT accept is Toyota rust proofing…to say that I hate it is an understatement 😂. Plus I saw how they did it on a Tacoma and they were super sloppy and it was all over the suspension and overspray everywhere. I get my rust proofing sprayed yearly instead. We ended up getting super lucky and buying a GR Corolla Circuit Edition…since we already have a 2016 4Runner Trail Edition (now called TRD Off-Road model) and we aren’t selling that one since it save my wife’s life from a tornado so we/she is super attached to it.
Just traded my Tacoma TRD Sport for a 2024 TRD Pro.Same color. I've just retired and am setting it up to go to as many National Parks as possible. I wanted the 4Runner because - quite frankly - I was tired of sleeping in the bed of the truck. I've taken it to the Black Rock desert in Nevada to test out the crawl control and cannot even describe the difference between my old beast and my new one.
I got myself a ‘22 TRD ORP and planning to take it to at least 1/2 a million miles. So far I’m at 1/10 of my goal. Still love it like day one, it takes me to places I couldn’t go with some vehicles I had. Made in Japan is always GREAT!!!!
Bought a 2023 Pro last April for this very reason. I am glad I did after watching the 4wd system on TFL's new Tacoma take a dump on a an icy hill the other day when the new 4Runner will likely have a very similar, if not the same, powertrain.
The last Toyota without stupid annoying stop/start now that the 24 Tacoma is out. Cylinder deactivation along with 8 9 & 10 spd transmissions aren’t the keys to long engine life. There’s a reason these older models last forever.
Being a owner of a 5th Gen 4Runner for several years now..... It's hands drown my favorite vehicle that I've owned.... And I've owned a lot .... From mini vans , Jeeps and Lexus.... To name a few ..... Styling... Still makes me stare at my 4Runner and others, reliability is the best..... Interior.... Love how old fashion and simple it is and durable, big physical buttons....... I've stated this before and I'll say it again...... 10 years from now.... The 5 Gen 4Runner will be looked at as a classic.... As we look at the 80 series..... Thankfully we had a 14 year production run .... With little changes.... So part's will always be available..... I'm excited for a new 6 Gen and most likely will by either New LC or the 6th Gen.... Deciding factor will be if the back window still rolls down....... Also.... I'm never getting rid of my 5 Gen....
Me and the wife were really interested in the Terra. Went to our local dealer that we have bought a tundra and a Camry in the past 2 years. Paid markup on both and guess what. They had a markup on the one that came in last week. Refuse to pay it again
you and your wife are the reason dealers feel so empowered to charge markups. Because people like you are willing to pay. I give it a month max and you'll head back to the dealership and pay markup for the 4runner
Hey John welcome back. Just dealt my 2023 toyota Sienna on new 2024 4 runner in underground.Never before in my life have i got 5500$ more than i payed for my van a year later. Only had to come with 4000$ to get trd off road.
It’s a trip how the taller people love these 4 runners. I’m 5’6” and it feels small in the cockpit. I can’t imagine being over 6’. I guess I’m just use to the big American Trucks. But I’m buying this last Gen for sure. It’s been tested to the limits and this 4 runner will be worth more money in the future being the last model.

But I've changed my stock stereo and speakers to a much superior system, dressed it up a bit inside, and totally out rigged her for overlandding. The best part is,like you, she's in showroom ( close to it😊 ) condition. Love my 2016 4runner trail.
As a previous 3 year Toyota Salesmen. I purchased a Lexus GX460 luxury. I now have KDSS, Crawl control, quiet drives, and best of all a LEXUS. I'm not going to look back on this decision.
No. I want a Land Cruiser and my local Dealer told me that they have no news from Toy about allocations and whatever they get will be “substantially” marked up. I will assume the same thing with the 2025 4Runner due out 1st qtr next year. Low allocations and high markups. Sucks.😢
We have a 2017 with only 64k miles in the garage, PLENTY of life remaining but I'm curious to see what 6th gen will bring. Often times I wish it had more power and a couple more gears in the in the transmission for better acceleration.

I hope Toyota watches your video and reads the comments. I’ve owned three 4Runners and one 4x4 pickup (old school pre Taco). Please let the customer have an engine options that include a naturally aspirated engine on the 2025. I won’t buy it if it doesn’t. I know everyone and their grandmother will say “the new turbo engines are just as reliable…”. Maybe,…and the fuel economy isn’t that much better. There are better ways to do it, like update the transmission! I have s 5.3L V8 Suburban for the family and it gets better mileage than my 5th gen 4Runner and that tells me there is engineering solutions other than turbos to achieve better economy. Sure that turbo engine may last 160k miles with no big problems but what about 300k or more. I gave my sons my 2008 4runner that has 180k miles and runs like a Swiss watch, will you be able to pass this 2025 down the family line. What about servicing cost. Please let us have engine options. I’m sorry I won’t buy it with a 4 cyl engine, no matter what, not negotiable, I don’t care if it flys and had hovering capability . I’ll just drive my current one until I die. If the 2025 has an NA engine, I’m getting one for sure. Are you listening Toyota, don’t ruin a good thing!
I absolutely love my 2020 trd off road, wish I had a pro but money... One thing I wish they would change is the lock and unlock arrows on the tailgate under the window, I wish those controlled the rear window instead. Would be nice to be able to lower the rear window and put stuff in or take stuff out then close it back up. Jealous of that heated steering wheel and dual zone though. Other than those two things, mine has everything else aside from fox shocks but since I lifted it anyway. Those would've been swapped out so would've been a waste.
Jon I’m still waiting on my 2024 4R TRD PRO to arrive. Since you are an owner of one, do you feel the nose dive is bad on the Pro over the Off road 4R with KDSS? I’m getting so many mixed reviews.
Do you think the 5th gen 4Runner will see a price decrease in the short term when the 6th gen is announced? Surely dealers would be looking to offload their 5th gen inventory with 6th gens also on the lot. An average consumer seeing the two side by side on the lot would likely pick the 6th gen because of new tech/features right? Just wanting an opinion because many financial channels are saying to wait to buy a car because prices are projected to come down in the next year. I’m just curious how the 6th gen reveal will impact 5th gen prices in the next year or two.
I think they will be popular like the FJ cruiser, because the 4yclinder will be coming. It will be awhile till we see a v6 unless emission standards change.
Think I’m going to wait for the new Land Cruiser to come out. I want to see what they are like in person. Maybe wait a year or two before getting one. Being tall having the moonroof in TRD PRO is not tall people certified. Passenger side front, my head touches the roof liner. Seat doesn’t adjust up and down like the driver front.
Just my opinion- I don't think the 6th gen will be significantly different except for a higher price and a boosted 2.4 L engine. The only thing Toyota can really improve is the fuel economy, but that is not the goal- lower emission's are. The upside to the current 4Runner easily out weighs any benefit the new 4R will offer. I bought a 2024 on 1/23.
Although I am excited for the new 4Runners to come out, I have a soft spot for these. I may just get myself a 5th gen in the near future. I'm not a fan of the turbo hybrid engines that Toyota is putting on their SUVS and trucks

I've seen other videos stating that Toyota isn't moving too many 4Runners or other trucks these days, maybe save for the Tacoma. I figure high interest rates and other economic issues are to blame but I wonder if people are waiting to see what the 2025 4Runner will bring if it indeed will be redesigned by then. I'm on the fence about getting one now or waiting to see as well. Our 2019 3.6r Outback is great but I want a truck. If I get a 4Runner I want a Magnuson Supercharger though.
Good luck. We’ve been searching for the models we like and it’s slim pickings out there. Dealers are recognizing there’s still good demand for the 2024 and charging above MSRP everywhere we’ve called except for one about 1.5 hours away from us up in Missouri. We have a underground gray TRD Pro on hold at MSRP just came off the truck and not even in their system yet, about $58K.
I have to say I was disappointed on the TRD pro color. My plan was to trade my 22 4Runner OR with the last year Pro color but i just don’t like it. I was hoping for blue as they had nailed the last 2 blue pro colors.

Yup, I bought a 2024 TRD Pro in terra. I traded in a 2018 Taco. My neighbor traded in a 2016 4Runner for a 2024 Sport 4Runner.

I'd just have a detailer take it off and buff it up.
Try a hair dryer and see if it helps loosen the film or there is a aerosol can called adhesive remover that should help you out.

Do you think the 5th gen 4Runner will see a price decrease in the short term when the 6th gen is announced? Surely dealers would be looking to offload their 5th gen inventory with 6th gens also on the lot. An average consumer seeing the two side by side on the lot would likely pick the 6th gen because of new tech/features right?
Just wanting an opinion because many financial channels are saying to wait to buy a car because prices are projected to come down in the next year. I’m just curious how the 6th gen reveal will impact 5th gen prices in the next year or two.
I do yes. There are discounts already on the last bit of 3rd Gen Tacomas. Granted the interest rates don’t help. But still they have seen a decrease.

They were yes. TRD Pro exhaust is all you are hearing and it reving out in 1st Gear.

I got the underground gray. Seems like all the new 4runners are coming in gray which has ruined the color for me.

I think they will be popular like the FJ cruiser, because the 4yclinder will be coming. It will be awhile till we see a v6 unless emission standards change.
I purchased a new 2023 4Runner Off Road and love it. The 6th generation with a four cylinder turbo will not come close to 5 gen reliability.
Underground color is definitely what I would get on a new Toyota.
I went went with the underground but the Tera was a close second choice. It was in Philly port for a month thow lol 😂
Think I’m going to wait for the new Land Cruiser to come out. I want to see what they are like in person. Maybe wait a year or two before getting one. Being tall having the moonroof in TRD PRO is not tall people certified. Passenger side front, my head touches the roof liner. Seat doesn’t adjust up and down like the driver front.

Just my opinion-
I don't think the 6th gen will be significantly different except for a higher price and a boosted 2.4 L engine. The only thing Toyota can really improve is the fuel economy, but that is not the goal- lower emission's are. The upside to the current 4Runner easily out weighs any benefit the new 4R will offer.

Although I am excited for the new 4Runners to come out, I have a soft spot for these. I may just get myself a 5th gen in the near future. I'm not a fan of the turbo hybrid engines that Toyota is putting on their SUVS and trucks

I've seen other videos stating that Toyota isn't moving too many 4Runners or other trucks these days, maybe save for the Tacoma. I figure high interest rates and other economic issues are to blame but I wonder if people are waiting to see what the 2025 4Runner will bring if it indeed will be redesigned by then. I'm on the fence about getting one now or waiting to see as well. Our 2019 3.6r Outback is great but I want a truck. If I get a 4Runner I want a Magnuson Supercharger though.

Good luck. We’ve been searching for the models we like and it’s slim pickings out there. Dealers are recognizing there’s still good demand for the 2024 and charging above MSRP everywhere we’ve called except for one about 1.5 hours away from us up in Missouri. We have a underground gray TRD Pro on hold at MSRP just came off the truck and not even in their system yet, about $58K.

I have to say I was disappointed on the TRD pro color. My plan was to trade my 22 4Runner OR with the last year Pro color but i just don’t like it. I was hoping for blue as they had nailed the last 2 blue pro colors.
