Of course today was my last day in my digital color theory class xD you condensed maybe 8 weeks of work into 20 minutes that was just as understandable. Thanks Jazza, as always :)

Draw with Jazza dude you are the best teacher on RUclips, everyone else can't explain as smoothly and comprehensive as you, too many Ahms and unsure what they want to say or how to say it and too many "you paint it over here like so" Ahm paint what how way like hm? Thanks mehn love you

Amagad! Thank you so much! I'm terrible at digital coloring, that clipping mask tip was just mindblowing to me. Never come across it before. It's brilliant, thank you so much for making this video!

daudur It blew my mind when I was first shown it, and I use it with every painting now. I also mention it in almost every photoshop tutorial I do haha

Since I discovered your channel a couple of days ago I have been binging your videos in every waking moment. I have bought your photoshop brush presets and I am going to invest in a graphics tablet. Once again you have sparked imagination and my love of art.

Watching you quickly add some shading to that sketch of a hand in the beginning of the video was so amazing!! All the information you’ve provided was extremely helpful! Thank you so much for this video!

This is SO helpful. I experiment A LOT in Photoshop CC when it comes to editing photos, making .gifs, etc. But every time I'm about to draw something, I tend to forget all of these tips and tricks, and I find myself completely clueless, and have absolutely no idea what to do to go further with my painting. This video made me help keeping all of these tips and tricks in mind, as well as it learned me new stuff. Totally subscribing!

I've never been into art etc, but now I'm really into and luckily for me, I've studied to be a painter and there we learned everything about coloring and colors - Greyscales you name it.

Wow thanks so much for this video! I tend to do my coloring by applying a solid color and then adjusting the highlights/lowlights for hours with burn/dodge. At the end my stuff ends up looking really soft. The greyscale painting just blew my mind. I've actually never used a clipping mask before but I certainly want to try it now. Thanks!

    Hi Jazza!
Excellent tutorial video! I learnt some things I didn't know at all. I can't wait to apply them in my next artworks! :D Thanks a lot!
By the way, if it helps, for the color manipulation point, if you wanna have more control, you can use the 'create new fill or adjustment layer' together with the custom layers, individuals or in groups, or the whole piece. That allows you to experiment adjustments more freely avoiding getting back or losing steps in history if something didn't result as you wanted.
    Well, hope it works!
    Have a good one!

This is super informative. One thing I don't get though, is at about 6-minutes in, you have a grey/gray foundation which you are going to put a clipping mask over... how do you go about creating that grey shape? Once you have the line work (the drawing of the hand), do you then create a new layer and colour in the grey foundation, possibly just manually with the brush tool, or is there a more convenient way to do that?

    Jazza, question.
You introduced me to clipping masks and they revolutionized the way I paint, and I'm so very grateful for that, but after I got really used to using them, I've kinda toned it down. Lately what I do is I lock the transparency of the layer where before I would have clipped other layers to, and I use the brush settings (because you know how you can have a brush set to multiply and its as if you were painting on a new layer that is set to multiply-- or overlay or color burn, you know, those things)
So I feel I use the clipping mask so much less, but Its still essentially the same thing.
I would like your opinion on this method.

that clipping mask thing went straight over my head. so you have to paint that area first on a new layer, THEN make a new layer, alt drag it to the lower layer and then you can paint on it? (does this also work in illustrator btw?)

Draw with Jazza What glove thing do you use/recommend? I bought one for 15 bucks thinking "that's a lot for half of a glove, it should be pretty high quality," but I've had it about two weeks and already had to repair the stitching.
