Don’t worry, these older artists are not forgotten. We grew up with them have their albums and play them all the time. There was so much good music in the 60, 70 that it was normal to hear good new music. We can’t forget them because there is nothing as good as what we heard then these days.

Cat Stevens was a great singer/songwriter by his own right…and when he converted to islam, the US government put him on the ‘no-fly’ list, and was prohibited entry into the US. While the plane was in flight, his name was flagged as being on the No Fly List. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers alerted the United States Transportation Security Administration, which then diverted his flight to Bangor, Maine, where he was detained by officers from the Department of Homeland Security. “Ooh baby, baby…it’s a wild world…and it’s hard to get by…just upon a smile…”

He was really ostracized by the media back when he converted. I remember the nightly newscast pretty much disparage him over his choice and essentially canceled him. They treated him like he was a traitor. It was really BS and he was extremely brave to hold onto his beliefs. We need more individuals with this kind of strength. He's an awesome artist.

He was on top, selling out large venues. But all around him were artist dying on drugs, with no real purpose in life other than sex, drugs & rock and roll. He took a step back, searching for life's deeper meaning. Someone showed him religion. It was Muslim and it changed his priorities. 50 years later, he's still Muslim and of course many do not follow their beliefs. Cat Stevens in the 70's was my fave singer/songwriter.

Only controversy was that Cat converted to Muslin I. The mid 70’s.
Be was born into a Greek Orthodox Church in England. As he became an adult that church was not doing it for him, he experimented with Buddha, Hindu and other eastern religions, he checked out the Muslim faith and it was a good fit. Stupid people want to claim all Muslims for hostages, bombings and other actions by extremist.
Cat has always talked about peace no matter what faith he was at the time. When he dropped out of pop music there were so many rumors that he never dignified. He and his wife started and ran for years a free Muslin school in England ( London?).
After 9/11 Cat/Yusuf was flying to the US. For some reason he was on a list ( for wanting Peace I guess ) and was pulled off the plane in Canada and denied access. After the rant President Bush sent him a public apology and told him He was welcome in the states.
The Muslim faith is second only to Christianity with hundreds of million members, and because of a small amount of extremist people hate and discriminate against all Muslims.
    Btw, I’m Catholic.
