My Energon Optimus review was nearly 10 years ago. I'm old.
I think the yr of the snake colors work well for this set. Feels more like a transformer than a power rangers set.
I watched that video when it came out, I feel old now and I'm still in my late 20's.

This set would look awesome combined with Wing Saber!

It’s odd the colours on both sets. on the energon set the trailer and drones are accurate while the robot isn’t and the head is bad with the mouth bit, and the year of the snake has the better robot while in accurate drones and trailers.
Proportions? On energon prime? good luck

this guy is wonderful in his garbageness, honestly, everything is its own punchline and it’s glorious. each mode makes concessions for the others, and the end result is nothing is quite as it should be, it’s beautiful
Energon Optimus was my first Optimus figure I got. I loved that show. Energon and Cybertron were my childhood transformers shows. I have the OG one.
The lights and sounds are removed on this? Man that sucks. That's one of the main features of this guy. The loud obnoxious vehicle noises are so cool!
Another thing to note is that this figure is better when you have Energon Wingsaber on hand. You can split Wingsaber into arms and legs that attach to Energon Optimus Prime and believe me, it makes this figure even a lot better by giving him arm and leg articulation and guns to shoot missiles out of.
I've still got this guy from when Energon came out. I've had a lot of fun with it and he has taken wear and tear, but he still holds up quite well. I miss the UT figures, they're way more sturdy and strong than the modern figures (my Earthrise Soundwave's Ravage lost his leg and now his gun snapped in half less than 6 or so months after getting it).
One day I want to see Energon Optimus with Wingsaber's attachments, but with the sections of Wingsaber on both areas. As in, the top half of Wingsaber as both the arms and legs then the bottom half as well, sounds like it would be more cohesive.
I want to personally slap the guy who made the drill vehicle a foot.
Like, bro. Drill punch. It's the easiest play feature to include.
Still have my old Energon Optimus that my grandma got me when I was around 9 or 10. Miss those days lol. If you missed out on this guy back in the day and you want a filler for your prime shelf, I'd say get this guy!
The Energon Optimus mold would make a decent mold for a Cybertron Trailbreaker or Hoist.
They weren't that fat in the show...

You know if you buy Energon Wing Saber he becomes limbs that not only have a matching color scheme to Prime, but also fixes a lot of the problems he has as well such as giving him better stability, better articulation, and more playability with more missiles to shoot. Plus there's Energon Omega Supreme who does the exact same thing.
Except Omega Supreme just swaps his head for Optimus.
Which is kind of a lazy combination.
The helmet is designed to lay flat backwards in vehicle mode. It fits in the space between his arms. Suppose to be a radar.
This prime isn't TOO too bad... once it's combined, in fact Energon had a MUCH WORSE Prime figure... Let's not forget the DELUXE Class which could split apart in order to POWERLINX with other deluxe class figures. That figure tosses proportions out the window in both normal bot mode and powerlinx mode.

Well I mean, I thought the Terrorcons in my unpopular opinion were cooler than the Autobots and Decepticon (No offense to the Demolisher and Cyclonus fans.)

I got the original one as a kid and took it to school for show and tell and Id like to think I was the coolest kid in class that day.
This toy is a solid example of vibes outweighing it’s actual design. It just… feels fun, it just looks silly as hell.
I feel like the colors on this version would look amazing for the Wing Saber combinations

This guy's year of the snake remold came in 2013, 10 years after OG release. I still hope they will remold Energon Landmine into Decepticon Obliterator Clench
I loved the strange designs of the unicron trilogy, unfortunately I couldn't get naval commander since it's too much, but I'm hoping to get the generations armada prime if the rumors are true...
legacy should give this guy an upgrade
I think part of my attachment to energon prime is that he was not only my first prime, but I remember my dad showing me "Prime Time 2" as a kid and I just couldn't get enough of it.
Really looking forward to the fanshobby. Even though it’s just a prototype, it looks fantastic.
Man I had a Megazord Prime when I was a kid, loved that he was a cab-over but yeah, the proportions bugged me even back then. I think the original colors for the drones were a little brighter, and the sub was blue.

Unicron Trilogy was my intro to transformers as a kid. Unfirtunately, I wasn't able to get many of the toys at all but I did watch the cartoon a good bit. Really wish they remade more of these figures more often.

4:07, Fun Fact: Takara Tomy made toys of robots in the 90's from 1990 - 1997 called the Brave Series and they have certain aspects seen in Toku, Power Rangers and other mecha animes so calling these PR Toys ain't far off since the Brave toys function the same way especially the combiners.
What's also cool is that Gaogaigar - the best of the Brave series by many (and you should go check it out), has elements of Ultraman sprinkled onto it, even the finale of the TV series borrowing heavily from the Ultra7 finale.
Dadbodimus Prime!?! hoenstly i feel like the original G1 designs often had some of the wonkiest figures. I mean Ironhide didn't have a head! lol. I wish we got as much quality control these days as we did with the previous.

Helicopter can tidy up a bit more. The fist can pivot out of the way and the flap can then fold back and tuck away like fire1.

I actually have all three og Megatrons and optimus primes from the unicron trilogy and i can thank my uncle for that
I just saw the Superlink (japanese) version and the coloration on it's belly makes the optical illusion of a thinner body.
I got the original version at a flea market years ago fir like $12 USD (in the old world pre 2019) incomplete because it's missing the radar on the trailer the gun the missile the cockpit for driller 3 the combined mode hat his moobs but overall I love it but the year I'd the snake version doesn't have the OP 1 2 3 4 on the limbs but keeping the lights & sounds in would've been better so the fans that did get it can experience what functions it had
Edit: fire 1 does have 2 water cannons above the cab that can swivel side to side

out of all the combination forms with energon prime, its Omega Optimus, Wingsabre Optimus (both forms), and i think thats it....
My parents managed to get me all 3 Optimus versions throughout the trilogy, no matter how often I asked for Megatron or Starscream. Armada prime: Good vehicle, good bot, eh super mode, and the combos were fun but stiff. Energon prime: Eh vehicle, eh bot, good super mode, combos were hit or miss. Cybertron prime: All of my yes.

The super mode helmet is actually supposed to be folded back in both truck and regular robot modes. I don't know what the instructions for this version told you to do, though.
I got the original version of this toy primarily so that I could combine it with Platinum Edition Omega Supreme, but in hindsight, it's not really that great of an effect and I think I prefer Omega on his own.
