- "All my life's a circle;
Sunrise and sundown;
Moon rolls thru the nighttime;
Till the daybreak comes around.
All my life's a circle;
But I can't tell you why;
Season's spinning round again;
The years keep rollin' by.
It seems like I've been here before;
I can't remember when;
But I have this funny feeling;
That we'll all be together again.
No straight lines make up my life;
And all my roads have bends;
There's no clear-cut beginnings;
And so far no dead-ends.
Chorus:
I found you a thousand times;
I guess you done the same;
But then we lose each other;
It's like a children's game;
As I find you here again;
A thought runs through my mind;
Our love is like a circle;
Let's go 'round one more time.
Chorus "

Harry was the greatest
My husband died in September of 2012. He often sends me songs. I know they're from him because the song will be playing in my head upon waking for the day. This morning it was this wonderful one from my teens. At least I guess that's when I first heard it. Forty-five years or so ago. All I could remember was the chorus, which I sang all while preparing breakfast. Anytime Aric sends me a song, I sit down with coffee and breakfast, find the song, then listen to it while I post it on Facebook. How perfect these lyrics! Harry Chapin.
So sorry you lost your husband. I am a music fanatic who is in bad health. I have told my wife when I die I will send her a different song everyday to let he know I miss her.
@lisa gaye Thank you for bringing your beautiful thoughts into a glum day.
Yes believe in the message. What a wonderful song from Harry to send to you.
Beautiful song! Circles are sacred, divine and eternal. Thanks for the gift of music Harry Chaplin - you inspired my music. 💕🌸💫
What the world of young and old could have learned from Harry Chapin, . May he rest in peace.
Katrina Maniscalco i'm 18 my parents play song from when they were young and they have stuck with me.
Almost 64 now. The words of this song mean more and more each and every day. Thank you, Harry for being a big part of the soundtrack of my youth. Miss you.
His beautiful songs remind me of the good times of the sunny misty 1970's .
He left this world far too young, he left so much behind for us to enjoy and had much more musical gifts to give.
Isn't it funny how some songwriters write songs that seem to be written just for you? It takes a special gift to be able to do that. Harry Chapin had that gift.
Well put!
This song goes back nearly 40 years for me. At coffee houses during college, two friends would always play this song and everyone there would join in, month after month over 4 years. That was my introduction to Harry Chapin. Been a fan ever since.
Sounds really special! Just like Harry was!
Gone too soon. RIP beautiful soul.
I am performing this song at my aunt's memorial service today. It was her favorite.
The older I get the more my life is a circle. Thanks Harry
I dont mind my life circling around as long as it keeps bringing me back to Harry's music. What a gift he was to us all.
I was in the Navy, stationed at N.A.S. Pensacola when Harry Chapin was killed in a car wreck. Broke my heart. I loved his music.
His unique style is unrepeatable. One of a kind!
@@paulisaac78 : I'll have to say this this my most favorite Harry Chapin song.
I was living in Connecticut with a view to Long Island across Long Island Sound. The LIE (Long Island Expressway) had a notorious reputation as a dangerous stretch of highway. It certainly proved to be the case the fateful day we lost Harry Chapin. I vividly recall hearing the news of Harry’s accident and passing on the radio and for a moment the world stilled in sorrow. I loved his music, “Circle” in particular.
Saw him twice in the late 70s, first time with the band, second time solo (as part of his World Hunger benefit concerts). Even with a crowd of 5,000 to 10,000 people in attendance, he could make you feel like he was playing just for you, in his living room. How much more did he have to give us. Harry, we miss you, 35 years later.
How true. I saw him in concert twice in the late '70's also. It felt more like sitting in a living room with friends and one of them was playing a guitar and singing.
My mom used to sing this to me all the time when I was little. I'm 21 yrs old and I still listen to it when I need to go to sleep.
Always one of my heroes saw him in concert 3 times. ..love his music.
My life has been a circle. Love and Life.. Great song. We need more like this today..
Lou Petitt , OH sir I couldn't agree anymore, we most certainly do . Love Harry's music, another great artist gone too soon.
Lovely song. I remember singing this with all the other kids in my kindergarten class for our parents back in 1977. My mum really liked it. So the song has a special place in our hearts.😊❤
I miss Harry dearly, the greatest singer song write that I will ever listen to in my life.
Hear Here
I used to listen to this with my grandfather when I was little.❤
I can't get through this song without crying. Just beautiful.
Harry was headliner when I saw him in Detroit in 73 or 74. Cats in the Cradle was not yet out. So, Taxi and W.OL.D. were his then top 40 hits. The opening acts for Harry were Linda Rondstadt and the Stone Poneys and then David Bromberg.
David Bromberg, there's a name I hadn't heard in a long time. I was lucky enough to see Harry in 4 concerts, he never had any opening acts in the shows I saw. First time was a one dollar concert he played at the Cow Town Ballroom in Kansas City. It was right after he released his first album, Heads And Tails. RIP Harry, we miss you.
This was my grandmother's favorite song.. she passed almost 3 years ago of lung cancer so I listen to when I feel down and everytime I do, I appreaciate it more. 04/17/2018 @ 4:48 a.m.
I cry every time I hear this song
Patricia, me too
❤️Harry Chapin songs. 😊
My best friend Mike and I play this on our guitars every time we met. We both grew up in Columbus Georgia but did not meet until Navy boot camp Orlando Florida 1972. He raised his family in Southern Virginia. I raised mine in North Central PA. I gave him an Eisenhower 1976 bicentennial silver dollar in 1976 is that we exchanged every time we saw each other. It is well worn. He died today, August 5th 2024. 52 years of solid friendship. That doesn't happen often and I thank God for it. We'll come back around Mike. Maybe we'll do the Mississippi River barges again or the red sails schooner down in the Outer Banks.😂 You are already really really really really missed.
As a 14 year old who has been i Han since I was 9 it shows anyone can love his music and it is timeless
My absolute favorite song
I used to train volunteers for a crisis line and a informal and referal line. I used Mr. Tanner to ask them who they thought would call the crisis line, they always missed the folks that had urged Mr. Tanner😢😢. Alyce Brame-Galyean
