    The best part about corralling all like items together is realizing how many of something you have. We had SO many blankets and towels and once I had all of them in one spot, I realized I could donate so many of them to an animal shelter.

    All great ideas. I also eliminated hampers by just using laundry baskets. I also never buy any clothes that require special washing. Makes life so much easier.

    On board with the socks, I stopped sorting them years ago. I buy 2 pkgs at a time, exactly alike, I don't match them, just dump them in a drawer, any 2 I pull out always match. When they get too worn, buy 2 more pkgs.
    I love your suggestions to simplify, love your mom in the videos also, she's a hoot!

    We do the sock thing and it started with 5 kids and sock overload. We then switched to black socks so that they didn't show wear as quickly as white did. Great video!

    yes love the sock tip!! I have done this with my husband and daughter's socks. I dump them all in a drawer, don't even make pairs. When one gets a hole it doesn't matter because they all go with it...eventually another one will get a hole too.

  • @becca377

    I’ve been doing the sock trick for years, such a great way to simplify and not spend time on something I feel isn’t worthwhile. We got rid of the laundry hamper completely and put dirty washing straight into the machine. We have a small space above for items that need to be separated, but mostly it just goes in and get turned on when it’s full. I’m so much more on top of washing this way too.

    • @kimbucha2949
      @kimbucha2949 2 года назад +4

      also on the socks, if one gets a hole, you only have to throw 1 away. the other can be saved for when another sock gets a hole. I also only buy black or gray socks. no need to try to keep them white. one less thing!

    I thought I was the only one who didn't buy clothes that needed extra care. In fact I purposely made sure family members knew that as well. Being a single parent who had to work full time, I didn't have time fir that extra fuss. I also simplified my socks as well. I only wear one brand and only have black or white socks. Black for work and white for other days.

    Finally had time to stop and listen to this with greater focus, and it's really full of excellent ideas and tips. Keeping like things in the same place is one thing I'm trying to implement after years of house projects left things stored randomly in boxes; then added in things from my mom's estate, and there's a lot of sorting to do. Slowly working my way through and have managed to sell about $2K worth of items over the past two years. My COVID hobby! I also liked the "being content" item-I think this would make an interesting segment on its own-maybe go deeper into that one, too!

      I have not ironed anything for 22 years.. when I moved into a house with a smaller laundry, so no room for a fold down ironing board.😁
      If clothes are hung up properly to dry they don't need ironing. 👍🇦🇺

    • @fabienneroure9995
      @fabienneroure9995 2 года назад

      @@rosalynne8792 I had an aunt who used to iron everything, bed sheets, undergarments, nightgowns, towels etc!!! She did so until her late 80's! Well I certainly won't break her ironing record anytime soon!🤭 take care and God bless🌷

      @@fabienneroure9995 Back about 50 years ago, fabric was usually pure cotton, wool, silk. No "man made" fabrics. So they creased and "crumpled" very easily. Most clothing did need ironing..and even cotton bed sheets were ironed by many. And, even earlier NO electric irons.🤔 Thank goodness for electricity🤗Mind you, natural fabrics felt amazing. But the "manmade" need little ironing. I, personally, like a good mix of natural and manmade...also healthier for our skin. Must admit though..harder to find clothes with a good percentage of cotton or bamboo. And, really hard to find wool. I really love my cashmere ponchos.
      I actually still have a cotton sheet...used as a cover for"formal" clothes..really heavy compared to today's bed sheets.
      Yes..thank goodness for so much today..👌lol.
      And yes, 👍likewise to you.. 🤗🇦🇺

      @@rosalynne8792 You're absolutely right! Now that you mention it, I do recall my aunt telling me she was doing all the ironing as a kid because she was the oldest.
      She was so used to it and she was always impeccably dressed (even when she was simply dressed). I don't even own an ironing board and for the "once in the blue moon" I have to iron I fold a bath towel on top of my kitchen counter. Last time I used it was for stickers you iron on t-shirts! Best wishes from Ontario Canada🤗🌷
