Very informative for a newbie like me, applies to me even though I am aircraft rather than ships.
Thanks mate! About to start my first model. A 1/12 tamiya motorycle. This helped me gather some basic knowledge
concise and brief. Exactly what I need to watch. None of those rumbling explanations. Thank you for doing it this way JJ, and sharing it!
You're very welcome, thanks for the feedback
I've just gotten started into model building, by far the most strain on the wallet were the paints. I did manage a starter kit off amazon that had most of what I needed like the sprew/wire cutters, tweezers and filing devices
It's enough to put people off I know but slowly over time you will build up a range of paints so you won't have to buy more for each model. What are you building at the moment?
JJ Model Making I’m actually building a few things at once, I have a 1/350 USS San Diego with the primer on, 1/350 Hopper just finished building and the Nimitz still in the box
Sounds great! I built a Hopper earlier this year and part build a Nimitz. There's a few videos of each on the channel if interested
JJ Model Making yeah the Nimitz is what brought me to your channel, I was looking up videos to see how building it would go and stumbled upon you! Great channel
Thank you!
Great summary and intro into the tools needed for a grief free build
Thanks for this: very useful!
JJ, great intro into the tools of the hobby.
Thanks Charles, hopefully others will find it useful too
I think this is a great summary. Although I started with just Testors tube glue and a single Xacto.....in 1969. Lol
Thanks Bill! Have you still got the knife?!
Lol. Actually I do have the handle.....I have learned you can change the blade. Who knew? 🤔
really considering getting into model planes, and I was pleasantly surprised when discovering that this hobby is relatively cheap when compared to some others. Thank you very much for the informational video, now I need to pick what model to start with. I'm thinking either going with the Revell 1:72 sr-71 blackbird, or the Revell germany 1:144 Saturn V
I'm 15 and I love model building.
What have you built so far?

@@JJModelMaking a ah1g, yf22, and I'm working on a German hallfrack with flak 38. And I have the revell u boat type xxi with interior coming. I have a old half finished tirpitz I got for free.
What beginner tools would you recommend? Have I missed anything from your list, let me know!?
Good video. Thanks
I want to buy the panzer 3 L but idk if i should buy a extra thin glue or the normal one
I'd ssyh use the extra thin glue
This looks like the kind of guy that squeezes his toothpaste tube in the middle. Did anyone notice? 🤣
I bought a model without any tools
