Same for Joey Jordison. Travis and Joey were my drum teachers. Wouldn't trade it for conventional lessons, those two showed me how to Invision what I was hearing. Best lesson ever in my opinion. 2 Goat's. Joey #1 Jordison will be missed. Travis, kero escalatithe world of drums. Love you both

Finally Travis Barker is getting some drum beauty (in my opinion) with this mixed song-solo. In others solo's he only did some simple patterns and no more than that. He had to work for being amazing with his show (lights, sounds, the drum configuration, etc) and he got it. Nice job Travis.
To everyone out there saying he's overrated or mediocre, you go try and play this. I can garuntee more than half of you can't do this. He's more than an okay drummer. He's not the best, but he's a great drummer. His timing is nearly perfect, his rolls and fills are smooth and clean, his coordination is on point and when he's doing rhythms and beats, its tight. Idk about you guys, but idk too many drummers from the past 20 years that can play like this

+tjisatotalsellout he is good, BUT compared to eg mike portnoy, he has a really small set, he is fast but uses a small set, mike is just a little slower on a much bigger set and still he uses the whole set :)

+kingSisu Travis barker does not play faster than Portnoy, and Portnoy is much more technical than Travis.
I totally agree with you, buddy. He's my inspiration, not the best but most influential drummer in the past 15 years (IMHO).

out of todays day, danny carey is by far the best drummer out there still touring and making albums.....hes a top 3..I would rank him first of all time. some of the things ive seen him do in rehearsal and in studio, doing 8-9 minute songs that go snd finish in one take....Ive seen his other styles that most people know nothing about, he is an absolute monster.....and this travis vid, his solos are always him playing along with a dj/rap music beat and rythm. goes nothin with a blink show

Why are there so many other drummers and musicians hating on him and disrespecting him. As a musician you should be encouraging to everyone and giving everyone props. Even if what he's doing is "Easy" as a musician you should acknowledge a good artist and continue to perfect your craft the negativity is just unnecessary.

I don't think this is overrated at all. Listen how nicely the drum solo is composed compared to many other drummers out there. This solo is very musical, progresses well and does not sound like someone just hitting shit randomly. A lot of planning went into this solo and it's very pleasing to listen to. I WANT MORE!
And to all those people saying mr barker is overrated, this right here is to remind you why hes king of the world.

#JoeRogan brought me here. Good energy and style TB! I get a little tired of great drummers I like hanging on the snare too much doing ghosting and paradiddles for 5 minutes of a 15 min solo. Its good to see a percussionist banging the snot out of the drums, and TB is great at it. Good for the soul! Thanks Travis!
Also I'd like to add to this is, I'd like to see anyone play for up to 3 hours straight during a concert and still be able to do this, he does his drum solos towards the ends of concerts so the people hating have to take that in as well.

Right.. but people always are saying that "Travis can't keep up with Peart" While that is true, Travis is one of the very best at what he does, and if you disagree, there is no denying that he has his own style, and I think that's the biggest thing about being a good drummer, is being distinguishable from others.

This is honestly one of the most flawlessly executed solos ever performed. If you think that what you just watched was "easy" by any stretch of the imagination, you are sorely mistaken. This dude puts in work. Period. The amount of rehearsal time required for this type of abstract creativity is exhausting to say the very least. Travis took skill and hard work then coupled them with a niche market. Buddy Rich would be proud as fuck. As far as performance and entertainment value is concerned, Travis is the modern day Buddy Rich. Yep...I just said that.
Listen to Aaron Spears, Steve Gadd, Tony Royster Jr., and some YouTubd drummers that aren't that famous.
You will see MANY solos that outclass this one.
And Travis Barker is NOT the modern day Buddy Rich lol 😂😂.

Please don't get me wrong. I love TRJ. I've attended his clinics. Dude is one of the greatest IMHO. I'm saying, for what Travis does, he is the best at it. I stand by that comment.

You think other professional drummers just turn up and don't care? They put A HUGE amount of work to get where they are.
They all worked hard to reach their status.
Travis Barker just found the golden egg. Not because he worked the hardest, he got luckier than the rest.
Look at One Direction for example...there are COUNTLESS singers that bust their asses off to make it somewhere...but they made it because luck found them...and they were marketable.
Same goes for anything, not just music.
Football (soccer) for example....by that logic, near enough every football player is the next Pele because they all put the work in.

Saying he is the best may be a bit much, but you can't deny the fact that he's a great player. Not only that; he's also great at marketing which is why he's so famous (no pun intended). Whether or not you equate that to being overrated is up to the individual.

when i was a kid (about 7 years ago)i always thought travis barker sucked because everyone said he sucked. But it turns out it was all the metal/classic rock fans hating travis barker getting all the popularity. I can understand both sides now, but it is true that barker is an amazing punk rock drummer, and he DOESNT SUCK

although I find it very stupid to discuss over which drummer is better and which is worse, I have to say something about him: a drummer is good or bad depending on what and how he plays. considering he plays skate punk and hip hop stuff, he's very good at it, and that's all he needs to be. comparing him to buddy rich makes no sense. besides, he's very humble and never said he's the best or anything, he just plays stuff he likes in the best way he can.

In fact, Travis is a really good drummer. He's got speed, he's got technique and, by the way he played in Blink 182, you could say he gave those songs life. Maybe he's not the best, but he rocks it out. I'm a drummer, and i wish to be like him someday. I'm just giving my opinion out here, and i'm not willing to fight. Just wanted to state my opinion, because Travis is my favorite drummer, and Blink 182, my favorite band :).

In my personal opinion, I think Travis Barker isn't the most technically apt drummer out there nor is he really top tier, but anything technical that he does is clean, and I mean CLEAN. Definitely worth respect.
