Two come to mind, Dave Lombardo in the Misfits and the drummer from Cigar..watch the live Bridge city Session video of Classic you...crazy
In the early punk/hardcore days it always seemed that the drummers were the best musicians in the band. They probably were actually in band all during school and learned all the rudiments-a very non "punk " thing to do!
not really punk but Fall Out Boy's drummer played with Behemoth during some sort of get together. i can't remember what exactly but goddamn he's good. i was a metal guitarist in a punk band and watching drummers at shows was amazing. they are SO fast and always entertaining
Check out the album “all hail the void” by the band Enabler, I’m not sure if he was in that recording, but he drummed for them when that album was out. He’s insane
His name is Andy Hurley :)
Aaron Kitcher is the most overqualified punk drummer in my opinion loudwire
-Smogman07
Aaron Kitcher, Tomas Haake, Neil Peart, Danny Carey, Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Mike Portnoy, and Ringo Starr. All overqualified punk drummers
Gordy is such a fuckin animal i'm glad he's being recognized for the talent he has
Drum is the hardest instrument in punk
I think the only time I practiced punk drumming was on stage. I used go add a lot of different elements like reggae and Jazz to a punk band I was in.
Stupid stereotype that punks can't play. Bruce "Ted" Slesinger, Earl Hudson, Lucky Lehrer, Chuck Biscuits, John Wright, Felix Griffin, Tim Solyan...just to name a few. And, of course, those who are in the video.
Travis is a beast.
Punk rock drummers literally doing their job. But mad respect for including Frenzal rohm
How does Brooks fucking Wackerman not make this video. Literally the best punk drummer in history.
Because he’s not as clickbaitish as Travis Kardashian
I saw him when he was in Bad Religion!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
@@kylehegedus5498 Fuck yeah dude!
No Derek Grant? (Alkaline Trio)
The Suicide Machines, my friend
Man, just look up all the bands John Freese is in. He's so incredible.
To say that they're "overqualified" is a bit of a strong notion, and more of a slight towards punk music. But I'll probably be alone on that one.
The drumming of Ramones sounds like a Squarepusher song from the '97 album
Squarepusher. Damn, I haven't heard that in a long time. Same as Leftfield and Aphex Twin
@@LeeJoRo I guess it's time to listen again to that great stuff
@@art_vandelay1738 I listen to The Prodigy over the weekend (always outnumbered, never outgunned and the day is my enemy). Nothing like SP, LF and AT, but still great
@@LeeJoRo That's right, my friend
I love that this included Dave Raun but you missed Smelly from NoFX. It should read “great punk requires good drumming, here are some examples.”
When asked who his favorite drummer was, jazz legend Tony Williams said, "Tommy (Ramone) Erydeli. I would love to play that fast."
Tara Reid from Josie and the Pussycats is often forgotten. It takes skills to convince us that she’s not a drummer nor an actress at the very same time.
Real question: How the hell do they not get carpel tunnel? Do they have to do specific stretches or anything particular? Seeing their hands and arms move so quickly and precisely, I just imagine it's tasking as hell.
It's all about the rebound the drums put on the sticks. It looks and sounds like their arms are moving fast, but if you're playing the drums properly, the rebound let's you get double the speed for half the effort.
@@videosofdeath99 Damn, that makes it even more impressive tbh.
@@Fusaah there is also a technique where you use your wrist for the first stroke and the fingers for the following stroke all in one overall motion
@@willwoodward1085 This is really cool. You don't get to see this information so it's nice to apply it to the video.
@@Fusaah i remember when i first started. It was pre internet and i was trying to emulate punk drummers. My right arm would be going numb! I just thought id never be able to do it..
Dedication and joy, energy and love… these guys got the groove 🤘
Marky is the man!
I don't care what the rest of the band is playing, a great drummer is always a great drummer.
I was waiting for Byron McMackin. That dude truly rips.
