      How do you color grade raw dng in davinci resolve?

    • @CallMeRabbitzUSVI
      @CallMeRabbitzUSVI 6 месяцев назад

      @@Marco-vn1dbIt's very easy!
      1. Drag your cinemaDNG sequence into the media bin, that creates the video,
      2. Then go to color tab and make a new node. On that node drag (CST) Color Space Transform and transform it into BlackMagic Design Film Gen 5. That will give you the best dynamic range and noise performance as well as access to highlight recovery giving you even better highlights.
      3. From there you can grade from from the Camera RAW tab and Color wheels. And when you reach a look you like dont forget to add sharpness back in using the Blur radius tool since RAW has no inherent sharpness.
      And in less than 10min you have a graded RAW clip in Resolve, export to whichever format you desire and Enjoy! 😊

    This is why I don't regret subscribing to you. Tomorrow is the end of my FiLMiC Pro 1-year subscription (I'm not renewing it) so the timing is perfect ! Ever since I've heard of Apple Log and Blackmagic Camera App, I've been paying close attention to the market looking for alternatives and even considered getting an iPhone (I'm using a Pixel 6 Pro too btw). But I'd really like to stay on Android so it's great to see Android apps starting implementing ProRes too even though it's not perfect ! Please keep making videos about Android apps and new features like that being added to them in the future, I'm looking forward to your future content ! 😁

    • @billyoung9538
      @billyoung9538 8 месяцев назад +5

      Cineon Log is one of the oldest log profiles around. It was invented by Kodak back to the early 90's for 10bit digital film scanning, and most pro level compositing software include a Cineon log effect/node. That is flexable enough that, if set up correctly, can convert just about any other true log format from ARRI to Blackmagic to and from log & linear space, which begs the question why he didn't use the Cineon Log to Linear LUT in Davinci Resolve or even Fusions Cineon Log to linear node instead of using a Venice log conversion.

      That is because the monitors we use to watch the video have very limited dynamic range; rec 709, the standard for pretty much every SDR screen, has some 6 stops of DR.
      However, the video recorded certainly contains more informantion than that, has a wider DR. If you do a linear conversion and export in 709, all of that extra information will be clipped. That is why for most purposes, especially for final viewing, linear wouldn't be used. What we do instead is apply some function, or curve, that compresses some parts of the scene (usually the shadows and highlights), wich will lose contrast, but allows you to se more of the captured information within the limited dynamic range of your display, while keeping reasonable contrast in the areas of interest.
      If you wanted to linearly compress the dynamic range to fit in 709, you could, but the image would be pretty washed out. I highly recommend this video by Filmmaker IQ: ruclips.net/video/2sshGdMgJxQ/видео.html

  • @DennisSchmitz
    @DennisSchmitz 8 месяцев назад +4

    Still seeing the same issues as with regular Motioncam. Low DR and warping. Wondering if these issues can ever be fixed.
    The frame drops are probably due to the Pixel phones slow storage. Try a Samsung S23 Ultra or regular S23 instead, should also show slightly better DR.

    • @nikilragav
      @nikilragav 8 месяцев назад

      why is the dynamic range different? I'd assume the developer would be using a tone curve (e.g. log) to compress all the dynamic range into a 10-bit file instead of a 14-bit or whatever the sensor is giving@@danielosetromera2090

    Nice video...
    Just want to let you know that Prores Recording is software unlike prores hardware on iPhone.
    Previous alpha version (3.0.4) had options to shoot in 1440p and 1080p crop which lets you record in less powerful phone too.
    Since pixels aren't known for performance.
    You will get a lot of stability on Gen 2 device.
    OnePlus 8 pro can record whole 15 min prores 4K 24 fps.
    If possible try downgrading to 3.0.4 version or wait for next update for the return of customs resolution.
