More power for the MK8 Golf R. More to come!
Can you please explain compressor surge for a newby like myself
How you get your mot done etc., after all this tuning?
@@TheChrosty surge is when the turbo isn't able to sustain the Pressure ratios in the intake system and the boost(air) blows out back up the intake ( like a release) when the balance equalises the turbo boosts up again until the next cycle, this then sounds like a whoosh whoosh. Once the Ve of the engine is such that the air is able to consumed the surge will go. You overcome this by reducing the flow from the engine or using a compressor wheel that supports the Pressure ratios you are trying to run.
@@TheChrosty Too much boost for too low flow. In that case air goes at wrong way, instead into engine it runs away from compressor. With adequate N75 and boost map that could be resolved. Surge on high rpm could destroy turbo, because of high flow and high exhaust manifold pressure, turbo shaft, seal and compressor wheel could be destroyed. Forged compressor wheel can sustain more stress on big and hybrid turbos.
Hamza pal will you be going to stage 3 on your DAZA RS3? We’d all love to see that.
Yes Will from VRS is a VAG wizard! Absolute legend
Will is a top guy indeed 👍🏼
@TRHamza loving the MK8 R series many thanks

@@TRHamza tbh, dealt with Will for years. He’s good when he wants to be Lol. He can be an absolute dimwit sometimes. Best dealing with him at arms length.
Not sure what’s quicker, the MK8 or Hamza getting to stage 3 on a MK8 R!
Sounds like a fighter jet on that Dyno 😍
Worked with turbo technics a good few times in my line of work being a turbo engineer myself. Great work but i will say the hybrid wont need the anti surge that was fitted, the comp wheel will probs need balanced a bit better with the shaft being left stock. A slightly smaller comp wheel or even remove the anti surge and run a few mm smaller comp wheel to compensate. Wont get that bog down surge happening at 4-5k
Agree 100%, similar situations were happening when the mk7 came out when comp wheels were increased in size, larger in ratio to exhaust wheel creating the surge. Prob need to move to a new frame rather than increasing turbine wheel size looking at how little meat there is between the turbine housing and the wastegate port.
Wow turbo techniques! Blast from the past!!!!My mates brother and his golf gti 16 valve turbo techniques back in ‘93 was mean. Probably before Hamza we born😂
Saw it on Carwow, What a performance mate, Love from South Africa
The the turbo is mad, awesome stuff, lots of support from South Africa brother 💥🔥👌💪
I've never not been a fan of the MK8 but wow has it grown on me so much more.
I've been watching this series since you bought this golf and it's absolutely amazing. Keep pushing this car and make it the most famous mk8 golf on yt
Nice to see my blue MK7 golf r stage 3 build in the background… 👀😁 J55 BBX. Your cars looking perfect 👌🏽
If i had the money I would make an offer right now! Car is looking and sounding mad well done! 👌🔥🔥🔥
Wow. An almost fully grown up, VW Golf Mk8 R. This is a very new milestone. Well done, Mr Hamza.
you need a 4inch down pipe off the turbo will help with the surge, it's building up to much pressure. The exhaust is your restriction, the turbo is good to go for more power. Make a larger downpipe and exhaust before touching the turbo.
Interested to see how reliable this new gen 4 engine will be as when you push the gen 3 over 500hp it’s a ticking time bomb
Regarding the gen 3, it’s more when reaching 600+ nm they become ticking time bombs, they really can handle some horses. High torque in the lower rpms is what breaks the 2.0 tsi
From the clips we’ve seen in this video it won’t last very long. There is too much strain on the engine
We will have to see I guess
Would MRC be able to send a map for my car in the states? I would love to get a tune by them
@@fokdat6318 2.0T FSI u mean
That power from GOLF R on ice!!! is incredible fast !!! i cant wait till it's summer!! good job my friend.
Pretty sick to see a stage 3 build on a mk8 👌
I love what your doing to that MK8 R 🔥🔥🔥🔥 its gonna be brutal fast 🙆♂️💥💯
Would love to see a actual drag race on safe road between a hybrid 7R and hybrid 8R just to see the real world difference in power and where you would see it most.
Pretty cool build nevertheless
So good to see Will, such a knowledgable guy
Mashallah bro cars looking 🔥😮💨
That sounds great rn!
Damn cool mate. Those initial pulls sounded amazing. What a car.
As mentioned in the previous video, eagerly watching the progress on this beast as i Have a Tiguan R on the way.
love from South Africa..
Awesome video again!🤩, and thanks for trying out stuff for us Mk8R owners! 👋
Lol that thing has been getting fed all the octane booster. Colour of those plugs and exhaust!
HAMZA always impressing us !
Hamza absolutely smashing the game💪🏻👊🏻
MRC the goat for sure
Been waiting for this. So cool seeing this be done so soon after the ECU was unlocked👌🏽
Yesss Hamza Back With Another Sick Video on the MK8 Golf and We Welcome the Wizard WILL FROM VRS The Absolute Legend
Great Video As Always Hamza ❤️💯👀😀
So suprised you haven’t worked with will sooner tbh, will from VRS is a top guy!…never the less sick video bro👊🏼💯
Turbo technics take me back.
Doesn’t look a lot of room to play with on the hot side, wondering if this is gonna work?
The hamzmeister leading the way!
Now that is real compressor surge ! Interested to see how this gets overcome
mk8 R content king!👑
Now this is what I want to see 🔥
I wouldn't use 5w30 on any modded car beyond 250hp, you better start using 0w40 or 5w40 to avoid rod bearing and timing chain wear
I have stock s3 8v
I believe 5w30 would be better than 0w30
My local garage says 0w30 is better for these engines
@@macauleyholmes6403 0w40 is the go to for anything that makes more than 250crank, preferably 0w50 above 500crank
I'm assuming you are an engineer? You should tell this to all engineers in porsche and audi who call for 0w20 I'm all the new engines.
@@chibikyle should I take this as sarcasm?
Idk man, I have a stock internal 504whp evo x, 110k miles. Been making 500 whp for 42k miles 😂. Entire car life with Mobil 5w-30 .
Interesting results bro
Do you know if the hybrid turbo has the same radial-axial technology as the stock turbo? Not sure if I missed it or if it was mentioned, but that was the big hype around the Continental turbo and how the engine was designed to take advantage of it.
You can see how even tuned, the 8R here makes 600nm at 2200rpm and holds at to 5500rpm, incredible response and awesome design.
From what I’ve seen the RAAX technology helps with turbo lag and react to changes in engine load quicker. I guess both go hand in hand. Seems to be more of an efficiency thing to try and help reduce emissions first and foremost. By the sounds of it this hybrid doesn’t struggle with lag since Doug was having to hold it back in the lower rpm. Maybe this hybrid retains modified compressor design that’s why it’s causing surge.
@@Mac_F87 indeed, It’s Able to move the same amount of air with a smaller wheel. So with the same size wheel as an is38, It’s able to respond quicker and move more air at the same time. Precisely what you see comparing the Continental unit with the is38.
I don’t know if you’ve seen what the raax technology looks like compared to a regular radial wheel, but it looks like this hybrid has a standard radial wheel without as much of a curve on the blades as the RA wheel has. But since it’s a hybrid, they would have to clip the back of the blades for it to fit because the turbo housing itself is different to a normal turbocharger housing.
I would expect it to still have an advantage over a normal turbo, but the difference wouldn’t be as big compared to radial vs radial axial.
I’m going to see if I can talk to turbo technics about this
Looking promising!
Expecting some big numbers from a revised turbo!
Good luck!
Brave move bro love it sounds like a fighter jet ❤
Wow 🤩 can’t wait to see how this plays out when it’s fine tuned 😎🙌🏽
Even not working quite as it should that mental, mrc and vrs on the case 😀 bring on the next vid 😀👍
Looking STRONG my man!
Bro please give it a clean... it is BEGGING for one 😢
I know the weathers terrible but love to see what it does at Santapod it will probably most likely break the mk8 record
These cars are making some power wow.
Great video good to see you again man good end to my Saturday night before i go for acquick pint 😂🙏🍻
Awesome bro been looking forward to this one! Unfortunately couldn’t wait until the end of the video to comment so will have to comment again after watching 😆
Nice one mate, hope you are well and have a great Christmas and New Year 😁👍
Nice stage 2 upgrade
Loving the content what all the mods cost up to yet its been a great watch merry crimbo to you and your family✌️🎅👌
hi haven't got a clue how to collect my gift I'm hoping its a transfer box for r32 joke but if you no someone I'm interested do I need an app telegram?
you still haven't told me how to collect my free gift is this true or a scam could you let me know thanks don't have Instagram🤨
He doesn’t celebrate Christmas dude, he’s a rag lmao.
Damn you are really taking one for the team lol great video!
Fantastic car, carwow's drag race brought me here. I'm staying for more great content.
I need to put on my Cupra Formentor same turbo 😂 it’s awesome!
I love this car. This is what this channel needs a car to push it to the limits, but how about the dsg? Ive seen no dsg tune or upgrade yet. I know its expensive but i also think its necessary with this amount of power dont ya think?
Sounds like a jet ❤
It wasn't surge it was the car shivering too damm cold 🥶😂
🤣🤣🤣
Amazing project
Top effort, great results. 🥳
Dang, gasoline in your side of the woods has a lot of additives by looking at that orange turbine housing finish.
Wicked so far. Hope you get what you want to achieve with the mk8 R. Would you consider something like the GR Yaris as a next project?
He works fast your mechanic
Turbo does sound cool tho 😎
Sounds immense! 😮
Nice work mait 👍
This is awesome! Is this in the states as well? I have only seen stage 1 piggy backs in the US maybe I'm behind.
🚀
Hey, great video !! At 6:45 what are these vents that you had the green fuse sitting on? My A3 8Y has them too, but I can’t seem to understand what they are ?
Definitely just spotted the M5 on May Watson channel when he visited Evolve ☺️ excited to see what’s happening with M5, this Golf though, fair play bro, sending it to the moon within a few months of owning it 😁
Is the RS Caddy going be a thing….? 🤘🏾
Sounds amazing.
You said you were using oem spark plugs? I would be using single stage colder plugs gapped to .024 and maybe some upgrader coil packs. That looked like a pretty bad misfire.
Mate all that brown stuff is from the octane booster same thing happened to mine here in Australia using 98 with octane booster and I was told to never use it to pony pistons back of my stock is38 and spark plugs where all brown
nice work
Deposit going down on a golf R today …… or not! Thanks to yourself! 😅 The car is standard , the only optional extra is the black Pearl paint! No DCC or performance pack.
Price is good, but every video I see tells me DCC is a no brainier . Coming from a Cupra 290 estate with DCC and 19’s , yes the ride was more comfortable but still ended up destroying 2 allows . Test drove the car and found the ride was very good. So good in fact I was glad I didn’t have the function of DCC , changing it from one setting to another was bothersome in the cupra as I always felt it had way to much roll in the comfort setting. Too hard then for Irish roads on the cupra setting. On 18’s (golf R) the ride seems perfect. With these options missing , my question is , is the golf alot less desirable, when it comes to resale? Is there anybody else out there with standard cars that can help me decide on whether to purchase now or wait ?
Yes TR. Been waiting for this upload loved the progression from stock to where you are now. Great as always mate.
saw this beast killing other German rivals on carwow. 👏👏
TURBO FIENDZ UNITE💨💨💨
needs a nice steering wheel maybe an interior vid would be good
I think the stock steering wheel is great. Maybe a leather stitched airbag or a carbon fiber trim that holds the airbag and buttons. The car would look better with real carbon fiber trim instead of the fake one, even those 4d carbon fiber vinyl wraps look better, you could easily think it’s real.
It’s the fake carbon and center console that make this car look cheaper. Takes maybe $/£10 to get some leather and have it stitched and a little more to wrap the headliner in alcantara. Little stuff like that brings up the interior a lot and doesn’t cost much if you do it yourself
Wheels? Sick MK8
Hey, hows the M5? I just bought one myself and loving it.
Yay Will the legend 🙌🙌
Hi mate loving ur content. Can u check at mrc next time ur there if the tiguan R is exact same platform as that's what I have 👀
absolute killa R
I need to get a money 💴 tree 🌳 for my garden too!!!
Any video with will in is awsome.
You might have answered this question before what you do you run the mark eight on , ?😊
Banbury ! That’s close ! Do you work in or own a garage locally ?
Definitely going all in hope it doesn't end in tears how much further do you reckon it will safely go ? Great content as always keep up the great work 👍
550-600hp to the crank should be fine. The gen 3 can safely hold 500-520whp as long as you keep the torque reasonable. You could make more, but it wouldn’t be worth it imo. Some valve springs and retainers would really help to rev higher and hold that torque for longer, meaning more power. I’m talking about a stock motor, nothing built and still being safe and reliable.
I’m the end, you can’t expect every motor to have the same reliability and for everything to be perfect, one person could blow the motor on a completely stock car just because one cam lobe gets messed up or one piston happens to be weak and cracks. Chances of that happening are 1 in a billion, but it’s not impossible.
Another owner could make 800hp and not have a single issue for years. Doesn’t mean they’re all going to be be the same.
Cheers 👍🏼 Ultimately it’s always a risk at Stage 3, but I’m happy to take it in order to learn more about the gen4 EA888 and share the findings.
What fueling upgrades have been done here. Low pressure fuel pump? MPI? Do the MK8’s even have native MPI functionality?
Beast that thing 💪
what do you think of the mk8 compared to mk7? I still cant get used to the look of it im just looking to get a newer car audi or vw
such a nice car
No thermal blanket/wrap on downpipe and turbo?
Why so?
As well as APR coils and *cold* spark plugs.
Why do you use OEM standart?
What did it run stage 2+ob 100-200? Seen mk8 cs run 6.7 on some E
The exhaust intake ports on the new turbo seem smaller compared to the oem one? Could just be the angle of the video. @2:30
Did I see you looking lost in high wycombe at the weekend?
Alhamdulilah Akhi. You wanna swap for my stage 3 Mk7 👀😂
You should be upgrading engine mounts
I have a question, with all the money being put in, wouldn’t it have been easier to a start with an rs3?
Killin it!
