  • Large Prairie, No.4110 is back in Steam!
After being withdrawn from British Rail in June 1965, sold for scrap to Woodham Brothers in Barry in August 1965, where she remained there until May 1979. She bought by the Great Western Preservation Group in 1979, becoming the 100th Loco to leave Barry Scrapyard! She was move to various places until arriving at the East Somerset in September 2019 and since March 2023! 4110 is now back in traffic for the first time! Nearly 58 Years since being withdrawn back in June of 1965! She will be steaming through Somerset before moving to the Dartmouth Steam Railway in 2026!
A fantastic Gala that the East Somerset put on! A real sell out event! Four Loco's in service! A Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST, A Ivatt 2-6-0 Mogul and Two Prairies! One large and one small! The Ivatt and two praises were on passenger service. The Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST was on drive for a tenner. AGWR 5205 Class, No.4247 was in the workshop with it's overhaul underway! The Miniature Railway were running trains with a newly built turntable near the Signal-box! They also had three guest locos from Coate Water Miniature Railway! The Large Prairie and the Ivatt were doing demonstrations freight trains but the highlight for me, was a double headed Prairies with 4110 wearing the Home Counties Railway Society Headboard!
