I hope you guys have had an amazing Christmas and let's have a very happy 2023. Now, 2022 has been a pretty interesting year for steam trains out and about on the mainline. Ranging from Flying Scotsman and her final runs on the main line before withdrawing from service for her overhaul in readiness for her centenary year next year. Also the return of 70000 Britannia after her overhaul and sounding as brilliant as ever as well as some classic steam engines including 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, 45596 Bahamas, and 7029 Clun Castle. There were also various doubleheaders out and about including 70000 Britannia and 34046 Braunton over the Devon Banks, 45231 The Sherwood Forester and 70000 Britannia up the Lickey, and a rare Jubilee Double Header featuring 45690 Leander and 45596 Bahamas over the Welsh Marches.
As always a big thanks to all the operators and volunteers for their relentless effort which without wouldn't make this video possible. Also, A big thanks to all my subscribers and viewers for your comments and support throughout the year, you guys have been so supportive and generous that I'll make next year in 2023 be probably the best year. I hope you guys love the video.
Wonderful seeing all those steam engines at speed pulling up to 12 carriages. Great locations and many thanks to the photographer. Sound was as compelling also. Thanks again. Rmb
There's the Flying Scotsman.
45 minutes of sheer pleasure. Thank you. Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2023

This is really good, thank you for sharing
20:00 best clip for me
Britain is W for still using steamers in revenue service here in America we use diesel and 3 railroads I know still use steam in revenue freight
Wonderful collection from 2022, big thumbs up and Happy New Year :)
Thank you, an excellent set of iconic videos. Where was the bank at 17:00 with 6233? Stiff work for such a powerful loco!
I don't want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need,
I don't care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree.
I just want you for my own,
More than you could ever know.
Make my wish come true,
Foxy, all I want for Christmas is you.
Awesome video!! Subscribed!

Ttese engines deserces to be restored and modernised!
Like the sounds❤❤🚂🚃
So does the fireman sit on the right side and the engineer on the left in the UK?
It is no romantic to see the diesel loco hanging at the end...
How do I find out when a loco is coming through stafford where I live? What's a good steam info site?
6:35 this one has an odd puffing pattern? Y does she sound like that?
Are those trains still run services throughout UK?
No. they run special charter trains.
😍😍
Why is there a diesel locomotive at the back, it just seems wrong.
Steam trains are pretty old, it's hot in there, etc. And just as a precaution in case something goes wrong with Steam locomotives. They aren't as massively used as before too.
Some engines can’t reverse as modern tracks are made for diesels so the diesel is used on the return trip
@@BNSFGuy4723 and for electricity in the wagons
Diesel engines also help with braking and acceleration to make it easier for the locomotive. When the steam engines get up to speed though, the diesel locos are shut off. The steam engines are the only ones actually pulling the train!
Often enough to help with turning purposes and often to move the train from station to o a depot and vice versa
