    They are the best live show you could see. Just saw them a few weeks ago and they sound better than ever. Notorious for amazing visuals at their shows.

      @@HitPlayWithKay They are touring at the moment so chance it will come near you. I see them next year in germany.
      Glad you picked that song. Its a good starter to get in. Many get scared away because TOOL Fans often suggest the complex songs first and that hinders to get in them imo. I would suggest "Right in Two", "Vicarious", "the Pot", "Parabol/Parabola" and "Lateralus" first. To show the beauty of TOOL. Keep listening, it just get better ;)

    Think you might like Right in two by Tool,you being spiritual,its a slow burn buildup to a chaotic climax.Pit of Consciousness live Kiev by Jinjer is good to I may have already suggested it but anyway these are two favorite bands of mine and reactions to them usually don’t disappoint

    Great reaction! Your boyfriend has a good taste in music, apparently. 46 & 2 is a good song to start your Tool journey. "The Pot" is another good song for the start (and a brilliant song besides that).

    I’m 52,I was born in DC in 1971 to 2 twenty year olds….1 of the best things about that is I was exposed to awesome music from the get go…accross the board…..Chuck Berry,The Who,Stevie Wonder,The Allman Bros.,etc…..being a music lover in my 20’s in the 90’s was incredible & after having heard as much as I have I gotta say that for me at least Tool is the best to ever do it 🤷🏼‍♂️I’m not taking anything away from anyone else they just….🤔…..are

      Very similar story. Turned 21 in '91 and found TOOL. Listened to it all ( I'm a guitarist ) from Aerosmith to Zebra, they are hands down the greatest gift to music this planet has ever seen. I listen to Invincible every morning as a sort of mantra. After seeing them for the third time I decided they were the only act I'd pay to go see.

    Tool is a very deep group! Maynard James Keenan is a lyrical genius. This song is about learning what life would be if we evolved into higher beings. It’s associated with its said we have gone from being 42&2 in our more primitive age and the western civilization is at the level of 44&2. It’s based on Carl Jung’s theories. You should go look at the O’Keefe music institute kids soccer this song.

    I've been listening to this song and this band since I was in highschool & I don't know the lyrics or what the lyrics are about for any of their songs. To me they're beside the point.
    Besides, if I want to explore philosophy or spirituality, I'll read actual philosophers or spiritualists, not listen to some rock singer.

    • @HitPlayWithKay
      @HitPlayWithKay  11 месяцев назад

      Good point, good point. Yeah, I'd much rather just sit back and appreciate the music than try to analyze, but it does make it better when you can understand what you're listening to.

    I don't think the maker of the video or the reviewer really got it. Both seem to be fixed on the attributes of the unitary consciousness ofthe 42&2s. The video only explains the 44&2s to be "disharmonic," without mentioning the pinnacle of success of the 44&2s being encapsulated in The Enlightenment. This was focused on rationalism, individuality--and the rights associated with the individuals--that no tribalism can ever quite understand. Scientific thinking suddenly became the overwhelming ethos, not the superstitions of the past. Thinking first through our emotions today is generally looked down upon. Not because emotions are bad but because using them to determine reality leaves society both subservient to following the group in power and has a strangling effect on innovation and new, novel ways of doing and thinking about things.
    Meanwhile, I believe the theory goes that the imagined future 46&2s will be able to remove the wall between consciousness and subconsciousness and not somehow return to the 42&2 unitary consciousness that speaks to the emotionally based person today. I personally think it will include other capabilities that psychiatrists can't imagine because they don't involve them.

      I think everybody has it wrong. Not every tool song is about enlightening. Some are very dark. I this one in particular is very misunderstood. to me it has nothing to do with what the video says. Why? because of the term 23&1. Which is when you are in prison confinement, you have 23 hours inside your cell and 1 hour to get sun. The song is about a guy who was a killer either himself of one personality called the shadow (his darkness) that he had previously represses to live a normal life. At the beginning the shadow is calling him to join him. Throughout the son song we se his shadow reminding him he has done it before and thus his muscle memory to kill and the shadow is anxious to do it again. The character is thinking about stepping in his double personality or shadow self and knows that if he follows that path he will get surely prison confinement but it will be for him and for his shadow 23&1 times 2 is 46&2. Sentence for him and for shadow self but added together. What do you think?

    FYI- all that video explanation about chromosomes and evolution and aboriginals is complete nonsense. Humans all have the same number of chromosomes except for rare genetic defects, and the number of chromosomes has nothing to to with how advanced or evolved a species is. Thousands of plants and animals and insects have hundreds of chromosomes.
