Seeing Tool in 2 weeks in Biloxi Mississippi
I just saw them in Boston in Nov. I brought a friend who had never seen them and he was blown away
This is one of those songs I always instinctively start playing every time I pick up my bass guitar. I dont know what it is about the song, but it's so captivating and inspiring - even after so many years as a fan 😅
Tool is a journey. I saw them perform this back in October, and it was nothing short of magical.

I've been listening to Tool for 25 of my 38 years. It still effects me sooo much.
Listen to 10,000 days (Wings for Marie) by Tool. It's about the singers Mother, Judith Marie. She was paralyzed for approximately 10,000 days before she passed, and she always kept her faith through it all. The orchestration in that song is some of the best from Tool, and the emotion is like none other. Watch a video with the lyrics.
I have seen 5 Tool shows each live performance better than the last one, They are truly the premier psychedelic/progressive band on tour ..

My favorite couple on the WWW.
That's the Tool song writing process. Adam, Danny and Justin put together the music first and send it off to Maynard who crafts melody and lyrics to enhance the music, and then it's back and forth until they agree to what they like. He doesn't want the vocals to be front and center but balanced with the music.
I think you guys would appreciate the other bands Maynard the singer is in also. Try "indigo children" from V is for Versatile by the band Puscifer.

This is actually one of my favorite albums of all time and Dominika you’re making me very happy watching you fall in love with TOOL, I have always felt like this whole album is very circular in nature.

Tool’s instrumentals are so deeply layered. I can’t even imagine how they write these pieces of music. What’s their writing process?
The drummer guitarist and bassist write the music, how they come up with this shit is beyond me. Then the music goes to Maynard and he fits the lyrics some how. The singer talks about it on Rogan.

You're both correct. Not knowing English as a first language is not the issue. Tool is DEEP. It took me 3 years to understand this song as a native language speaker. They are past us.
The biggest rock station in Dallas started playing this in the late 90s right at 5 o’clock every day so everyone could hear it as they were leaving work to let off steam. It was met with such overwhelming success that people demanded it stay and I swear it lasted over five years. every Monday through Friday 5 PM sharp

In my top 3 Tool songs to play on guitar.
I discovered TOOL just before the pandemic -- they changed my life forever. Even through my divorce, listening to and internalizing TOOL was a key way I was able to express my feelings and to grow past them and move into a new world of love and opportunity and depth. You both are so right with the impact on mind, body and spirit. Keep going. Follow Maynard's other bands as well -- Puscifer and A Perfect Circle. It's even more of the same depth but with different "conversations" with different band mates. It has filled my life with so much depth and silliness and growth. Spiral out.

This song is about incorporating your shadow or dark subconscious into your conscious mind so hearing you say it touches your dark side but in a good way it totally makes sense.
On a more mellow note you could listen to the band Morphine. Albums are Good; Cure for Pain; Yes; Like Swimming; The Night. They were so so so good. ❤❤❤❤

SO just a thought from an American who can muddle his way through one other language... You mention feeling like you aren't that smart, well in terms of having a broader spectrum of your brain engaged being fluent in a second language is a good start! It literally changes your brain! Parsing out a second language is a complex task and when you include art than your brain is basically going left-right-left-right between the creative and the logical to interpret and than decipher it. No faults in your smarts it can literally feel confusing having your mind do that much crossfiring!
