    Would love to do this hike one day. This IS a silly question, do you ever wonder...what if the next stop is completely full? No private rooms...no space in the dorms? It could be possible if there are loads of other hikers right, a huge group. Just curious about your experiences with this. Obviously they would never turn anyone way, it's like one big family up there, there will be somewhere if not ideal to rest, but just curious about your experience.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  8 лет назад

      Actually that's an excellent question, because in most cases I was exhausted and wouldn't have wanted to hike any further, and it can happen that all the lodges are full, especially at the Annapurna base camp. Basically you just hope for the best and it doesn't happen often that everything fills up. Also this wasn't in peak high season when it would be more likely. Apparently it is possible to call ahead and book something if you're concerned about that happening.

    A little late to this thread. I did the EBC trek a few years back and very much enjoyed it. Planning on going back this year and doing both the annapurna base camp and the circuit. I notice you did ABC first. Is this generally the way to go? Wondering about which order I should do them in. I notice you needed a few days for your legs to recover before taking on the circuit!

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  5 лет назад

      Yeah I'd say doing the ABC is a good warm-up for the Circuit, but you can do either one first. Keep in mind that you want to do the Circuit starting at the eastern end first and heading counter-clockwise to the west, because of Thorung-La pass (it's too difficult to do it going east). So if you do the ABC first, then you have to leave the park and then get new permits back in Pokhara in order to enter again to start the Circuit. But if you do the Circuit first, at the end of it there's a way to continue trekking to the ABC and keep going without leaving and getting new permits, if that makes sense.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  8 лет назад

      From what I understand the monsoon will be coming around that time but I'm really not sure. I know it's variable and you could still have good weather. So it's hard to say for sure.

    the altitude on this trek is much lower than the Everest base camp trek. I think the airport and starting point for Everest is close to 3000 m ... did you feel any symptoms of altitude sickness at Annapurna? Also wouldn't going from 2900 to 4100 at ABC be too much increase in altitude for one day?

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  7 лет назад

      Yes, that's correct. Everest base camp is at more than 17,000 feet, way above the Annapurna base camp. Everyone is different with the altitude, I've never had any major issues with it.

    Hey Gabe! Hows it going? Listen man I kind of need your help. A bit off topic of this video. I may have told you that I recently got a fantastic new job as a tour bus driver for a major rock band. Well the spring tour went great. They want me to drive again in Oct. out west. They also want to upgrade to the large tour bus. One of our stops is in Arcata, CA. & then the next stop from there is way down in LA. GPS tells me to take HWY 101 to San Fran then over to I 5 south. A trucker told me to go back over to Redding to get to I 5. I don't mind 101 as long as there are large fuel stations along the way from Arcata to San Fran. Places like Willits. Are there truck stops that can handle a large bus 24 hrs a day around there? I don't want to leave Arcata at 3 AM and run out of fuel half way to San Fran area.

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  8 лет назад

      Hmmmmm, yeah that's a little bit of a quandary. The thing is I can't say for certain about the large fuel stops, but I would think there should be some, Willits or Ukiah would be likely places. So don't hold me accountable on that one but if it were me, I would sure as hell prefer to take 101 south from Arcata all the way into S.F. The road from Arcata to Redding is winding as hell, and then once you get over there you still have a long ways to the city. Highway 101 has some curvey parts but not nearly as bad as the road over to Redding, and 101 is much more direct. Perhaps you can search around online and figure out for certain about the fuel stops because yeah, that would suck to run out of gas. But truckers go up and down that route so there's got to be something. Sounds like a cool job!

    • @Dedhedted71
      @Dedhedted71 8 лет назад

      Well looks like a Gulf station at a place called The Forks. Not huge like a truckstop but maybe will work. I am nervous about it for sure. I looked on google maps & there does not seem to be much of anything for large trucks. I have till October though so I will figure it out. Thanks for the input brother. Its a huge help.
