    Dude, this is one of the best overviews of the C8 Corvette that I’ve ever watched and I have been watching them for two years! Very true very honest and very insightful observations on this vehicle. I have one on order and absolutely love everything about it. I love the fact that you included the history of the Corvette for the understanding of the viewer and that puts in perspective how wonderful this generation of this car is. Well done!!!

    Great review. Having owned a c6, c6z06,c7, and 2 c8's... I completely agree with what you've said here. I don't miss the manual transmission at all, the dct in the c8 is very good. The c8 is just a much more refined experience and most traditional corvette owners just aren't used to that. I also agree that every c8 owner should go to Ron Fellow's driving experience at Spring Mountain. It's amazing how much you will learn about the c8 and how to drive it fast (and safely).

    Actually there wasn’t a corvette model year in 1983, so I think the current longest running passenger car (non-truck like you said) without interruption is the ford mustang.
    I’m a corvette owner. Great review. 👍

    • @DriveItOut
      @DriveItOut  11 дней назад

      So, the way I understand the story is as follows, they decided last minute the 83 wasn't ready and they wanted to make some more changes to it. Most say it was more stiffening of the car due to the new targa top design as opposed to the t-top design. When they extended development time on the 83s they continued producing and selling 82s. When the C4 was finally ready, it was far enough into the start of the 1983 calendar year that they decided to ship the C4s as 1984s. So production never stopped, they simply skipped the number 1983. This is why the Corvette has been written about as the longest running passenger car.
      I hope you love your Vette. What year is it? I miss mine greatly. I've been to the National Corvette Museum and seen the 83 Vette many times. It's cool to see. Thanks a ton for watching.

    Excellent, Excellent Vlog/Review!
    IMHO so far, the only miss I feel GM made with this vehicle is with the Exhaust.
    (However, my exposure to this vehicle is still within the “Break In Period” at 411 miles, so there may be others, but we shall see)
    GM and other manufacturers have regulations and design constraints to follow so they do the best they can.
    Thus, the 2023 ZO6 launch is being delayed until it is near perfect in every respect?
    I imagine the hype and expectations of this Supercar to be released demands a lot to GM and potential Recalls and Warranty Claims would be embarrassing.
    The exhaust could have been louder, but each owner has the ability to rectify that issue.
    This is my 4th Corvette.
    1976 C3 - 1981 to 2019
    1995 C4 - 2004 to 2009
    2009 C6 Z51 2009 to present
    2022 C8 HTC
    Ordered 11/11/2021
    Built 2/8/2022
    Delivered 2/14/2022
    2/27/2022 PPF & Ceramic Coating
    +/- Late April/Early May began Break In Process: Central PA Weather, Stones/Anti-Skid Material and my health limited my driving the car.
    My best Corvette ever!
    Love driving the C8!!!
    Right now I am thinking of a 1967 427 Tri-Power and what it would be like to have my 2022 C8 and the “67” side by side pulling as hard as they can!

    Loved the review and agreed with everything you said except the part of how you can drive a C6 corvette for hours and hours on a road trip without needing to worry. Anyone with s C5 or C6 absolutely needs to worry about their harmonic balancer falling off on a long road trip. You will be stranded if that happens and the HB was designed to fail. I'd replace it with one of the high quality aftermarket balancers before any long road trip.

    • @DriveItOut
      @DriveItOut  2 года назад

      Thank you and thanks for watching.
      I will say that I made sure to keep an eye on my HB when I had my C6. I had my mechanic keep an eye on it too. I never had an issue.
      My C6 had the LS3. From what i gathered over the years the HB failures were much more common in the LS1's (C5) and LS2's (early C6's). By the LS3 they had mitigated the HB issues.
      And even with that said, I tend to think the internet can make some problems seem more prevalent than they really are. The Corvette HB problem may be similar to the Porsche IMS Bearing problem in that it is often used as a spook story for owners leading them to believe that it is an immanent problem for all cars when in reality only a fraction of cars have failures. I'm not saying it's not a problem and hasn't been catastrophic for some owners. I just think it's less often than most are led to believe.
      I drove my C6 on 3 road trips in 3 years through 10 states and never worried. My mom currently has a C5 and has never worried. We do good maintenance and take care of our cars and they usually take care of us.
      I did think the HB issue was significant enough to mention in our Head to Head review of the C5 Corvette and 996 Porsche 911.
      You may enjoy that review.

      With the HB, is there a certain number of miles in common/associated with the HB going bad, or is it an anytime/anywhere situation?
      I have a 2009 C6 Z51 LS3 with only 7,200 miles on it.
      I decided to keep the 2009 when I got my C8. The C6 is almost in Showroom condition.
      The only problem I’ve had is with the Parking Pawl.
      It seems to get stuck in Park periodically. Some people seem to think/advise there is a proper sequence to follow.
      It’s been suggested that I may put on the brake and be grabbing a handful of Automatic Shifter too fast!
      I need to slow down a little bit.
      If the shifter locks into Park, the driver needs to place the car into the Accessory Position and go through the Start Process slowly.
      There is thankfully a RUclips hack shown to alleviate the problem! Rather than my explanation. The RUclips Video “Hack” has worked for me.
      The Chevy Dealership “Says it fixed the problem”!!!
      Yet after returning the C6 to them twice afterwards, they said that they could not replicate the issue….. 🤔

    • @DriveItOut
      @DriveItOut  2 года назад

      Seems like there is a way to check the HB. If I remember correctly you can put a chalk mark across it, then drive it for a few weeks and then look to see if the 2 pieces have vibrated out of alignment with each other. Irecommend doing a youtube video search for that. But,,,, with your particular car and its mileage I'm not sure I'd be too worried. There is such a thing as a car sitting too much, but if it's been indoors in a good environment i wouldn't worry too much. Sounds like a nice car. I have experienced that automatic shifter problem on a friends C6. It's a problem you can never seem to get to repeat itself enough to solve it. If you remove the shift boot and view the mechanism as you apply the brake on and off you will see the piece that is the issue. Lubricating it and making sure we were applying the brake firmly and quickly when shifting out of park seemed to help my friends car, but i would definitely talk to a mechanic before making your final decision on what to do there. Enjoy those rides! We filmed more Corvette content recently! Look for it on our channel soon!

    A Honda S2000 outperforms any generation of a Miata, both on the track and even in a straight line. Even more raw and responsive. Even with 15+ years newer technology they still managed to make the Miata perform worse than an S2000 that is 23 years old.
    A 5K mile 2010 Corvette ZR1 can be had for $65-70K. It will almost certainly be more fun (manual, a lot less driver nannies). It has a better 0-60, better handling, and higher top speed than a C8. Also a ton more carbon fiber. Will be just as reliable if not more so than a regular C8. So for the driver focused enthusiast, why should we buy a C8 over the C6 ZR1? To "look cooler"? I am considering both so its what I'm struggling with.

    • @DriveItOut
      @DriveItOut  2 года назад +1

      The Honda S2000 is a fantastic car and one of my personal favorites. The miata still has it on weight though. All 4 generations of miata weigh less than the Honda S2000. Lightness makes for a lot of fun.
      The C6 ZR1 is also a favorite of mine. I owned a C6 Corvette and I am a big fan. C6 is the last generation of Corvette that did not have GMs cylinder deactivation. I am not a fan of the cylinder deactivation and i think it makes the engines more prone to problems when they age. That's just a theory. So when it comes to reliability the C6zr1 has that advantage. But the c8 is naturally aspirated and that can also be an advantage when it comes to longevity over a supercharged car like the c6 zr1.
      I have never seen a c6 zr1 have a 0-60 under 3 seconds like the c8.
      But 0-60 isn't a stat i care a whole lot about personally.
      I actually agree that the c6 zr1 can be more fun to drive than a c8 in some ways. The c6 zr1 is a very wild car. It's untamed. It's like an undisciplined wild stallion. The c8 is more like a very well trained and controlled race horse. Feeling the center of gravity in the c8 keeping you glued to the road is extremely fun. But i am actually drawn more to the wild soul of the c6. The c6 feels much more dangerous and on edge. Thats fun. The c8 is much more refined from a handling standpoint.
      They are just completely different cars.
      If i can only have 1 sports car i would choose the c6 zr1 everytime.
      But if i can choose 2 sports cars then i am most definitely choosing a C8 for everyday driving and then a lightweight manual transmission car for occasional fun on the street and track.
      Thanks for watching and for the feedback. Means a lot.

      I’ve owned 8 Corvettes no C1 or C6 but the C6 ZR1 is one bad ass car. That’s the one generation and car I will try to own but I currently own a C2 coup, C5 Z06, C7 Z06 and a C8 HTC Z51. The C8 is hard to beat with the mid engine. It’s also nice to have a manual all my cars are except the C8. As far as your choice a C6 ZR1 or Z06 or a C8 I would prob still have to go with the C8, especially if you could wait and get a C8 Z06 which is what I’m ultimately getting in a few years.

    1:18 - WRONG! Not that car. Not the C8. Chevy made such a giant leap when they created the C8 that you can't really compare it to the previous Corvettes. They may as well have christened it an entirely new car. They should have called it "The Americana" OR "The Chevy Goshawk" OR "The Peregrine" OR maybe even "The Caracal."

    Don’t buy the car GM does not want to stand behind warranty. I have a 21 with 2k miles . Just took to dealer for two warranty items . One is real wheel has section near stem that has either had finish wear off or never noticed because car would have to be parked in a spot where it’s at the bottom in sun. The other is both front headlights have what appear to be some type of hard water stains inside the lens. Again didn’t notice when picked it up and generally only see in sunlight at an angle . First they tried to tell me it’s on out side and due to the PPF film instal. Then they tried to say it was due to the heat gun they used to apply to the hood . No film on headlights and no heat gun used . Dealer simply puts customer between them and GM and I have now had to go to step 3 in the warranty booklet and file claim with the BBB . This is a very expensive repair , front bumper has to come off and each light is about 1400. This car is nice looking but that’s where it ends you will not be able to trust the warranty on an 80k car that has issues . Check out the forums on this , many have the problem . Some have found good dealers who have fixed others going through what I am. Stay away , it’s only 2k miles and I am going through this , imagine latter on. One guy on forum said saw new ZO6 on floor and the headlights had the stains , no PPF on car . Junk

    Dear
    followers!! Don't let the beautiful pictures confuse you . Anyone who
    buys a new car from GENERAL Motors the chance you threw your money into
    the trash is very large. In this company there is no customer service,
    the company's management does not care at all, if you have a problem or a
    malfunction, you can only pray to God there is a chance that the help
    will come faster. GM is a very dangerous company, be careful and keep
    your money safe.!!!Share so more people don't get screwed.GM is a big bluf

      Some Mclarens may be forced to make that observation while only being able to see the C8 from behind.

      Which McLaren exactly?
      As for the Nissan 370z (if that is what your username refers to), many people have noted how it looks like an imitation of a Porsche. I don’t hate the 370z, but people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
