I’m originally from Glasgow and served my time renovating the old tenements in Govan, it was great so many were saved as they were built by master builders, obviously back in the day there was a massive rush also to build high rise housing which are now gone, the sad thing is today I’m working on building high rise in Australia, they’re so sought after, they have secured entry, swimming pools , cinema areas, gymnasiums, rooftop barbecue areas, secure parking etc , when I look at the effort that it takes to construct a high rise and then gone in an instant with a stick of dynamite on reflection it seems as great a folly as destroying the grand old Tenements !
Ahh,your so right Andrew,I lived in Brisbane for 20 yrs,was amazed at the scale of the Gold Coast High rises, pure luxury, never affordable unless you won the lotto, haaaa! But live in Yoker now,Dumbarton rd,great big tenement, sturdy as hell, widnae swap it for Oz ever.way to hot, prefer the cooler weather!😎💥🙋♀️
@@jackiemcnairn3594 You should see Brisbane now, towers going up everywhere, the bit that gets you is they’re sold before they’re built, the new Queens Wharf looks pretty cool too, you’re right about the weather, this summers been a shocker, so humid, am greetin in my beer thinking about Scotlands nice cool weather, all the best Jackie, Slainte!
Went to school with folk from sighthill, and best made moved to Hutchinson town late 70s. Brought back a lot of memories. And bizarrely, my mas boyfriend demolished, pinkston power station. Got a shot on the cran with the recking ball. Great fun. Thanks.
Who in their right mind thought the mass building of sprawling concrete jungles would entice people to actually like living there when you consider how many of them have now been demolished.
I've been driving a Black Taxi for 40yrs, I just retired and the City has changed so much in all that time, but I still love my City, just saying from Glasgow 😊🇬🇧😎
Even today ,when i see sights and images of Glasgow ...i despair ! The decades of underfunding and neglect from the people in office is hitting home now and quite frankly the city has turned into a hovel . We are a first world city in a first world country - a wealthy country - yet to look at most of Glasgow in 2024 gives the impression of poverty , failure and dereliction . Rat and rodent infested streets are commonplace, where after COVID-19 ,you would think that cleanliness and hygiene would be of paramount importance . I cant be the only one from Glasgow with these worries of my home city ...can i ?
Ahhh,Pinkston power station/canal area was my childhood playground, best walks with my daddy, thank you for posting!💥💥💥
