Elgin should be on the list - cathedral city with access to beautiful coastlines and gold sandy beaches, loads of history, whiskey, nature walks, good access to Cairngorms, furthermore a quaint town centre and most importantly the area with the least rainfall across the entirety of Scotland! Not surprised it is not on the list however as Elgin and Moray in general is quite a hidden gem. 'The Orkney Islands', not 'Orkney Island' as there are a bunch of them. They can also collectively be called 'Orkney'. The largest island of the group is not called this either. Locals refer to it as 'Mainland Orkney'

Been through Glasgow and stopped in Greenock love to go to Scotland again Orkney looks lovely I wonder if it's like Cornwall less stressful and people seem fine😊😊😊
It actually is. I always think when you see a strong cafe culture locally the place is on the up. The tennement flats are a great buy and on a par with what you get in parts of the west end and Shawlands.
The town is called bears-den. It no doubt refers to the den of a bear. The name predates 1430, when bears became extinct in Scotland. An alternative explanation is that the bears-den referred to may have been the office station master at the railway, who was a very large, hairy and grumpy man.

Dunoon and surrounding areas, and St Andrews
i dont live in scotland but i have been to crieff many times and it is an amazing place, atleast top 5 for me
Yes, I agree that the Orkneys (Kirkwell) and Portobello must be among the best places to live in Scotland
It’s just Orkney not Orkneys. Also Kirkwall. Best place to live
Stirling is the gateway to the Highlands.
I would also recommend the East Neuk of Fife
Plockton is wonderful.
