Wow! I didn't find out the park existed until last year - way too late to the party. However, your amazing video let me experience the awesomeness of it. Thank you so much for sharing this video.
We went there in 2008 when it was still called "Hard Rock Park" It was close to Medieval Times and we went there while waiting on our show to start. My family was so excited that there were hardly any lines, but also hardly anything worked. They renamed it "Freestyle Music Park" a few years later, but I don't think it helped. Everyone loved the Pavilion, and they wanted it to stay. I think Hard Rock Park had a hand in closing the Pavilion.
Yeah, I'm obsessed with this park and the whole story about how horribly it failed. I've been to Myrtle Beach a couple of times and you would never know it was even there.
Laura Malerich It's your lucky day. Here is a link to see the original park roller coaster at its new home in Vietnam ruclips.net/video/FDKo1bs-h3g/видео.html
You're right about that; I read a lot of "time-shift" fiction, and yes, I bought a DeLorean brand new and had it for abut eight years (wish I still had it, even though nothing happened at 88 mph!). This looked like such a cool park - sorry I never got there.
Planning on checking this place out next week. Any tips on not getting caught if guards end up being present? If it’s $400M, I have to check it out. Can’t miss out on that.
This is a cool video. Thank you for publishing it. I met my wife because of this park. I would like to tour it as you did just to take a walk down memory lane. I have an actual exit sign from Hard Rock Park. It is one that hung from the chain link fence with an arrow showing the way out.
DANNY TEAGUE Awesome Danny. Mr. Myrtle also did a really in depth 4 part video tour here ruclips.net/video/TrnsPp9NetE/видео.html . Thanks for sharing. I am envious of your sign! Rock on!
Lived about one mile from there, Season pass holders my wife and I walked over there every night for the AWESOME closing show over the lake, GOD I miss that place...THANKS FOR THE GOOD MEMORIES
+Sean Lewis at the beginning it was around $47 a head. They ran a special in July for$18.87. I paid around $150 for a season pass and they likely lost money on me.
That Park shut down, but for some reason Family Kingdom is still running?! The theme park I miss at Myrtle Beach was the one where the Bi-Lo at the beach is now.
This is an amazing video! Interesting to see what remains of the park today! Even though I have never been to the park, I wear a HRP hat to any Hard Rock Cafe I visit and I spread the word about what the park was like to it's employees. P.S. You should do more videos related to the park :)
Thanks for the feedback. I truly miss this place and will always have a soft spot for the Hard Rock Park. I will try to gather a bit of my HRP souvenir collection and do a follow up video in the future. Thanks for checking out the video!
I spotted a Ford Ranger that said security parked near the old shopping mall section of the property but never saw any signs of life. It was very eerie.
They thought it thru alright - they just got greedy and charged outrageous prices to park, get admission, and do the rides, plus buy souvenirs and eat while there. I worked there all 3 months and 22 days that it was open as an entertainer in the Jamaican Village, and I only could afford to go thru the "Nights In White Satin" dark ride. I also got to see Kid Rock's concert for free, but that was it. Everything else was sky high and unaffordable. It's sad, as it was a well-thought out park, and beautiful. It also opened smack dab in the middle of the 2008 Wall Street crash that summer, and I lost all my playing gigs at the Sheraton Hotel (who 3 weeks before said they were recession proof), and half of my dates with Margaritaville Cafe were cancelled too. Even the streets were mostly empty, and the beach looked like a ghost town. I called it "The Summer Nobody Came To Myrtle Beach." It's a shame it had to take the hard Rock Park as a casualty on it's debut season.
Cool! This was off of Hwy 501 just before the intercoastal waterway heading towards the beach. Freestyle Music Park (Hard Rock Park) Unnamed Road, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 maps.app.goo.gl/djAzJrqdENZDMCeh9
Went there once for the “pre opening”, once as “Hard Rock”, then once as “Freestyle”. The park was fine, but nothing worth the $35+ it cost. The Zeppelin coaster was just a corkscrew Style tuned to “a whole lotta love” as you went around. nothing stunning. The Moody Blues ride was a joke, they converted the old “waccoma pottery” building and turned into the oddest dark ride ever. Just flowing curtains and smoke and “knights in white satin” playing. The Eagles coaster was broken as was the British cars that came up s tube, then twirled down as a coaster. Place looked cool, but out of place for where it was located, across the waterway and far from the beach. It seemed like it was just plopped in a parking lot and made on the cheap. Reused so many of the old pottery buildings to cut costs, and was surrounded by undeveloped or partially developed properties with roads that went nowhere.May have done better if it were over by Broadway on the Beach, that’s for sure
awesome video! i live in the myrtle beach area and im interseted in filming a video at the park. please let me knoewhow you managed to film the video. and did u get granted access? please let me know and mabey if you still live in the area we could collab?
Greed, $60 Per person all ages. What a Rip off. I am glad it choked. And then the Pavilion closed, WTF. We went to Myrtle Beach for 10 years mid 90s thru 2004. Been there done that. Great Video. I can't imagine how much the season passes were.
some one really needs to build a new park in its place also the idea of a music themed park could still work just with better marketing than hard rock park had
i wonder whats causing south Carolina to not be able to do that i mean north Carolina can support carowinds maybe hard rock park would have done better if they got the word out more and cleaner than they did but well never know plus i just want that abandoned spot to be used for something ANYTHING AT ALL
Mystery that is exactly why.. myrtle is seasonal and with carrowinds right by a major city it would be hard for them to compete without massive backing.. on top of the fact the park was nowhere near the beach you had to know it was there.. most ppl goto myrtle for the beach
Overall great video. I could do without the ear splitting guitar riffs 👍. We don't have those around here they generally get bulldozed down and houses and or outlet malls are built on them. They're trying to kill our State Fair here in Tennessee where real estate is such a premium. I gotta wonder when will the bubble burst? They've built structures everywhere.😵😰😱😲✌
400 million and closed after one season. That must have been a crap park. Someone didnt do their research properly when they built it here. What a waste of money
my pleasure, if you don' tmind me asking what camera are you using? or is it a cell phone cam? Also, i assume you've seen this but, check out ADAMTHEWOO new orleans theme park it's funny lol but sad of course :(
Anakin Skywalker for sure. I used the Nokia 1020 which I bought only to use the built in Carl Zeiss camera plus the budget GoPro Hero on the wide angle shots. I am a big fan of Adam the Woo! LOL!
OK, i never made videos and i didn't know what camera to use :) yeah he' rocks! your vids are cool too. i have no life here in kansas, lets go travel and go find abandoned stuff. lol there's literally a house that looks like the new "it's " house here close by lol
Why the fuck would they an amazing theme park like this one abandoned! This park shall be rebuilt the way it was and reopen! I hate theme parks abandoned! Such bad choices were Made! They should’ve kept up the money!😭😭😭😥😰😰😰😫😩
How do you prevent Native Americans from developing well-deserved land(along the Waccamaw) by putting in a casino? ...muck it up with a knowing-will-fail theme park SMH
Probably closed by the skate or never say die contengency...too stupid to realize what was hurting business was technology..you can order boards from china but you fall over a piece of sand size rock...rock hard...so much for hard rock'n.
Wow!
I didn't find out the park existed until last year - way too late to the party. However, your amazing video let me experience the awesomeness of it.

SisterPotato thanks for watching!
Thats the very very best video from this park....this than and now cuts....great job. Love greetings from germany😊
Really good job on this. I heard about this park, but never went. I enjoyed your video, again, awesome job!
Thanks! great video, best one I've seen yet! Nice and sad to see before and after.

It was only hrp one season and freestyle the next annnnnd then it was all over
Yeah, I'm obsessed with this park and the whole story about how horribly it failed. I've been to Myrtle Beach a couple of times and you would never know it was even there.
Nice video! I really like how you did the then and now shots. Im a little bummed cuz i was hoping to see the old roller coaster! lol but great job!

videos, like this, make me so, incredibly sad. I wish someone could bring abandoned parks back to life!
I agree!
Nicevideo - the "before and after" sequences were a great idea!
Dave Anderson based on your Delorean profile photo we share the love of time travel! LOL Thanks for watching!
You're right about that; I read a lot of "time-shift" fiction, and yes, I bought a DeLorean brand new and had it for abut eight years (wish I still had it, even though nothing happened at 88 mph!). This looked like such a cool park - sorry I never got there.
I remember when it was being built! was really hoping it would boost tourism a lot more than it is even right now.
Planning on checking this place out next week. Any tips on not getting caught if guards end up being present? If it’s $400M, I have to check it out. Can’t miss out on that.
I feel terrible for you man. If my home park Kings Island shut down.....i don't know what I'd do. I would definitely be heartbroken. Great video man.
HonduDan thanks for watching Sir!
Right.. that will never happen tho.. cedar fair would ensure that, plus its supported by a major city in cincy something hrp didnt have
Never even knew Hard Rock had a theme park ever. Maybe that’s why it didn’t do well. 400mil and they couldn’t buy more commercials on TV.
This is a cool video. Thank you for publishing it. I met my wife because of this park. I would like to tour it as you did just to take a walk down memory lane. I have an actual exit sign from Hard Rock Park. It is one that hung from the chain link fence with an arrow showing the way out.

Greg Hickman Awesome! We likely passed right by you many times in that case.
Chattanooga Like a Local Exactly how much did admission cost with it being so expensive, and people not wanting to go?
+Sean Lewis at the beginning it was around $47 a head. They ran a special in July for$18.87. I paid around $150 for a season pass and they likely lost money on me.
That Park shut down, but for some reason Family Kingdom is still running?! The theme park I miss at Myrtle Beach was the one where the Bi-Lo at the beach is now.
Family kingdom is still running because the other 2 parks charged way too much to do anything there. That’s why they closed
They never should have closed the pavilion at Myrtle Beach 💯
4:09 just wondering what the name of this song is?
Hi from Germany...I would have liked the Rock Motto at a Amusement Park ...sorrry it went down so fast.
Hello.... I also love the Amusement parks.

If you go to goggle earth you can still see the park attractions. But not on street view
any tips? headed over to check it out tomorrow.
Mikie Burke Wear a high visibility vest and a hard hat and no one should mess with you. As a disclaimer avoid risking trespassing charges.
did you actually meet any security?
Mikie Burke did u make it in? any suggestions
I spotted a Ford Ranger that said security parked near the old shopping mall section of the property but never saw any signs of life. It was very eerie.
Chattanooga Like a Local where did u park?
Someone had a dream for a theme park but didn't quite think it through and thus you have an abandoned mess for someone else to clean up.
They thought it thru alright - they just got greedy and charged outrageous prices to park, get admission, and do the rides, plus buy souvenirs and eat while there. I used to work there.
Tim Daugherty Awesome! I likely would have crossed paths with you during my many visits there.
Wow, pretty neat!
Tim is the park patrolled by security
Tim Daugherty. Why did it close
David m3 maniac bankruptcy and no there’s no security there. However the land was bought at the beginning of the year by an attorney
Was this North Myrtle? I guess around 2003 we went there to whatever it was called. We enjoyed it.

I love Hard Rock cafes and I especially like the casino in Boloxi.
vynessah gravano Biloxi.

Thumbs up if you found this while searching for Hard Rock Cafe Park 40th anniversary festivities.
I'm visiting my sister in 2 months. Where is Chattanooga is this?
Joseph Anicola This is in Myrtle Beach although most my content is in Chattanooga.
I don't think that was Aerosmith. I'm pretty sure it was Jim Morrison. Am I right or wrong?
+Hippie Chick yep you are correct. I was delirious and watching for security.
Simply couldn’t compete with Carowinds.
GAYSMR. Is that the reason it closed
Ticket prices WAY too high... not worth it = nobody buying.
Where is the park located
LIKE HOW IT FLASHES BACK ,,,,COOL

You need to learn to SPELL first, dumb ass!
I went there in 2008 and didn't realize it was abandoned until today. Sad
And great job on the video
Thanks! It was fun to put together.
It's a shame. Looks like it could be converted to a shopping center or movie studio with a bit of work.
Cynthia J. Coleman Thanks for watching! The property does seem to still have some good potential.
we have a shopping center in myrtle beach already
How were you able to gain access to this park?
I brought my season pass with me and said a little prayer. I needed some closure since I didn't know that the park would never reopen again.
Don't look like it was fully constructed
Greed, $60 Per person all ages. What a Rip off. I am glad it choked. And then the Pavilion closed, WTF. We went to Myrtle Beach for 10 years mid 90s thru 2004. Been there done that. Great Video. I can't imagine how much the season passes were.

Great vid and editing.

Timing was a big downfall and advertising in the wrong places.
@@abandonedattraction8522 Thanks for the reply buddy. Is it still there and do they intend to build on here.
Think it closed in 2007
I remember when I snuck in there
I have a feeling us taxpayers bailed out some idiot bank that funded this place.
Looks like Rock and Roll Hell.
I'm surprised somebody hasn't snagged the British invasion leftover stuff? I.e. guard shacks. People snag weird stuff.
Mike Lcml5c. Do you get alot of British there. Just asked as i am from London. Cheers David
No lines means no waiting..
This park killed rock'n'roll.
Cod piece fish and chips really?
Life leaves life grows and so it goes...
i feel the sadness just watching this.

It would be a great movie set before its too far gone.
Jeff Crompton NBC'S 4th episode of Revolution was filmed around the old Great Eats diner inside the park.

This cost 400 million? Were the developers on acid? Money to burn.
+Joe McClellan Even the licensing alone must have cost a fortune.
Joe McClellan I agree, no way this park was 400mil, maybe 25 or 30, but not 400, and if it did then someone was really
Ripped off,.
It was actually $225 million to build it. It was sold after the first shortened season for only $25 million.
