Journey into your imagination. I HATED IT. With every fiber of my being. I was a kid when journey into imagination quiz was in Epcot, and I’m not even joking, when my family found out that journey into imagination was closed and it was replaced with the abomination that journey into your imagination was in its place, asked my mom, “ can we sue?”
One last, my brother and sister in law met at the park-he worked there as a mechanic so we went constantly. He rigged the little robotic girl bear in country bear Jamboree to lift the hem of her skirt up too high and wink at the audience. It was like that for almost four months before someone reported it. When I went back to college in the fall, a table of people in the open area were talking and laughing, they were talking about the little girl bear in the jamboree. I think the entire world saw it the summer of 1983. I have met people who actually tell me that as their favorite memory of Disneyland and I love telling them, Bert rigged it that way to get even with a slave driver boss- Hi Mr. Kirkland! You mean old f#k!
When I was younger, I thought that the Orange Stringer was a peach and was an homage for James and the Giant Peach...but now that I think about it, it is an ORANGE and not a PEACH. Orange for...Orange County! I'm glad it's gone, too.
The Tower of Terror was my favorite ride I've ever been on. I loved the theme and the ride, and everything else. As much as I love Marvel, I wish that they hadn't chosen to close Tower of Terror
Thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!! I've never been on it either but I definitely know it was an awesome ride!! I guess we'll just have to go to Florida.
i'm honestly so sad to see tower of terror gone, i absolutely loved the ambiance and it reminded me of back before they started cleaning up the haunted mansion. though, i can understand making way for new themes and that it's available at disney world. just the fact that i'm 6 hours away from disneyland so i can drive down and visit maybe once every few years but it's gonna be a long time before i have the money to fly to disney world. also, i loved innoventions but i can definitely see where you're coming from. it's a great idea, but i don't think that disneyland are the ones to be showing cutting edge technology. things were quickly becoming further and further behind the times, and towards the end they were just stupid gimmicky things. like the thing that was supposed to take a picture of you and show what you'd look like in 30 years.
I rode the Flying Saucers ONCE. I was VERY young, like 5 or so. Next time my family went, they were gone, so I'd say it was 1965. In fact I remember Tomorrow land pretty well from back before the first remodel in 1966. I remember Videopolis specifically because I'd stay the hell away from it. My wife loved Golden Dreams specifically for the message and production values using very modern tech. I found it technically impressive, although not very exciting. We got "lucky" once and rode Superstar Limo on one of the rare occasions it actually was working. I agree, it was awful. Likely the worst attraction Disney ever created. It was creepy as hell and came off as cheap. Even the employees were outraged when Disney decided to pull Country Bear Jamboree. It was much loved. Vacation Hoedown sucked and then they put in that awful Winnie the Poo thing. I'm pretty sad at the proposed demolition of the Innoventions building primarily because it originally housed the Carousel of Progress, which I cherished as a child. Forgive me, I always get a bit maudlin when I think about old Disneyland.
The thing that really bothers me about tower of terror leaving is that it misses one of the points of tower of terror being there. DCA was supposed to have a "spooky" ride to sort of "mirror" Disneyland having Haunted Mansion. Even if they had to do away with the Twilight Zone theme to make way for another spooky themed ride, I wouldn't have been as displeased.
For the Orange Stinger I think the whole idea was that you're a bee that's gravitated to the orange itself. Ironically, the ride left an orange scent that actually attracted real bees to the ride so I think that's one of the reasons this ride was eventually taken out.
CoderatheGreat Oh my GOSH!!! That’s hysterical!!! Those poor little bees... just like “I smell good stuff??? where’s the sweet smells comin from???? where’s the fruit???” x’D Best keep those bees on the actual plants where they belong....
I just wanna say that when I was a teenager I appreciated Videopolis because it was really the only place in Disneyland where I saw lots of people my own age gather. The rest of the time we were all skulking around, walking 10 feet behind our parents, begging them not to make us go on "It's A Small World" again. I mean, teenagers, right? I also had a signature Disney moment in Videopolis years later when I was in college. A young couple nearby were dancing and started kissing (nothing too intense, just closed-mouth, brief kisses as they danced) until a park employee came running over and said, "Stop that kissing! This is Disneyland!!"
That sounds really disgusting... and this happened often?? No wonder they closed it, having to shut it down and clean it everytime is a lot of work. I’d see why they’d close it...
Some One You do realize some woman had her kid pee into a poncho laid on the floor in Flight of Passage in front of all the other people, and then when confronted with a cast member, said to “feel him! he’s not wet”? My mom and my stepdad were there. The utmost most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen.
the two boys in orange sweaters at 1:56 could be my brother and I! I mean it likely isnt, but this is around when we first arrived in the US and visited Disneyland for the first time.
Ok, one of my favorite childhood memories is when I was 6, I rode tower of terror right as they were doing the final set of fireworks for the night. So every time we would go up, me and my mom would see fireworks go off. That was the one and only thing that solidified the idea of Disney being filled with magic. And 9-10 years later, that feeling stays strong.
The reason it was called "Orange Stinger" and why it had bees in it is because it was supossed to be about California. You zip around inside a giant orange as if you were one of the bees (which polinate orange trees, btw). Further, the zipping sound INSIDE the orange resembled the buzz sound of a bee. THAT'S why it was like that. No one ever thought of the "story" AND Disney has technically abandoned the California theme of the park so they changed things. Hence the Mickey's Band Concert theme it has now. This is also why the California Screaming roller coaster which incorporated music by a California icon, Dick Dale, is being replaced by a Pixar themed coaster.
@@christopherleon7236 Ironically, it's coming back so a new generation could get into it. (Honestly, think they could do with making a new adult-focused dark ride)
The Orange Stringer, was actually called the Orange Stinger. It paid homage to the Orange groves that used to be on the land when Walt Disney first bought it. The swings used to have outer shells of bees, which made it seem like you were a bee flying around inside the giant orange. The bees were removed due to them being made out of fiberglass, and they broke and started to crack after they would collide with each other.
The Tower Of Terror is one of the best things I’ve ever been one . . We Came Over From England because we don’t have anything as Good as the USA. . I went on it Over 20 times & Videoed it . . America is a Great fun country to visit and we went back to Cedar Point For Some Of The Best Coasters iN The World. . . We had so much Fun, I’ll never forget it. . God Bless Your Great Country
It was like having a bad nightmare, it stays with a person. As annual season past hold for many years, I look at Super Star Limo as wasting 25 minutes (including wait time) of my life I can't get back.
I think I remember it from Disney World... Once when I was like 6 I don’t remember it much, but I think what I remember most is we didn’t see it again ever though I went many times before it ended
The orange stringer was a nod to the orange orchards that were all over the area before Disneyland was built. That's why there are a couple orange trees on the way to tomorrowland from the hub.
Missing the buckets here. It took you across the park saving 15 to 20 minutes sometimes. It gave you time to catch your breath and plan where you wanted to go. And if timed it right you could watch tinker bell and fireworks. And of course the Abominable Snowman!
Not only as a person who visited Videopolis in the 1980s and enjoyed seeing several New Wave and Pop acts there, but as a parent who would enjoy taking a load off my feet if I took my 13 y.o. there at Tomorrowland Theatre - theme parks not only need rides & attractions but places for parents to sit and relax a spell whilst thier kids run around and have fun.
Jack A not only that, but you were supposed to be bees in the orange, hence the name orange stinger. The only way we get oranges is through pollination, which requires...wait for it...bees! Plus, I honestly don’t think swings need a real story per se. If I were a ride operator on the silly swings, I would never be able to listen the William tell overture again! How hard would it be to have some variety?!?
The Tower of Terror was my favorite ride, barring The Haunted Mansion. I'll never forgive them for replacing it, what with the aesthetics being so timeless and paying homage to one of the greatest (universally acclaimed!) television shows ever conceived. Replacing it with a modern fad like the MCU is just... short-sighted. That said, I've been binging your vids and I adore them. Thank you for the consistent content.
I always envied Disneyland for having Mr. Toad and 20,000 Leagues. I rode both during my first trip to WDW back in 1976 and loved them, but of course when I went back as a teenager in the 80's both were gone. :(
Disagree about the Tower of Terror. My husband and I just got back from 5 days at Disney. Rode GotG for the first time. We had watched the preshow stuff on RUclips and man, we were so glad we were able to bypass it using FastPass. I couldn't imagine listening to the characters' bantering and arguing for 20-30 minutes in a queue. YES WE KNOW YOU ARE GROOT! The actual ride experience was fun (aka the drops) but the lack of a cohesive story is sad. The Guardians of the Galaxy saving themselves and other artifacts from the Collector is not a good story. The ToT story was vastly superior.
i went on it for the first time earlier this month and we got fast passes too . hearing that there was background conversation amongst the characters is painful. ill have to keep that in mind fr the next time lmao
I really liked innoventions! I would force my family to go in with me. I thought it was so magical and an exciting look on the future. That being said, it was a waste of space and outdated. But it holds a special place in my heart.
I totally agree with the list, but...man the Tower of Terror just felt so good there. The change makes sense considering Marvel is set to totally replace the Hollywood backlot, but ToT theming was incredible, with emersion starting in Buena Vista Street with the tower in the distance and advertisements for concerts in the hotel in stores on the street. Oh well, I love Guardians too, so I'm over it... almost.
Innovations was so special to me. I saw it when it was still bright and new. I think it was the first time I ever felt true wonder and curiosity, at its purest. I wish it could come back
Pirates of the Caribbean is MY FAVORITE! and I hope to take my grand kids there someday. Don't like it don't ride, but every single time the line is huge!
Gonna take a wild guess before watching that Superstar Limo's on here. UPDATE FROM FUTURE ZACH: Only #6? I would've said at least top 5. Oh well, it still made the list it deserves.
I wish Superstar Limo was still there... I have never been to California Adventure, but if Superstar Limo was still there, that would be the first thing I would ride, so I could marvel at its crapulence, and wonder to myself, what the hell were they thinking... awesome.
I remember the bear jamboree when i was a kid. I didn't live far from disneyland so I feel lucky being able to enjoy the show. Another great show was the America sings. Wish they woukd bring those back
I haven't been getting my notifications for about a week now. Don't worry though, true fans here and we look for you and watch past vlogs as well. Never have i ever given a thumbs down to any vlog. Today is family time to go back and watch 2017 vlogs. Love this vlog but WE WANT THE PEOPLE MOVER BACK!!! Keep the vlogs Coming and God bless you.
I literally cried when Paradise Pier left 😭 Edit : Since tower of terror and Soaring of Cali left, paradise Pier was the only thing that represented California. That’s what the park if for, What makes California unique. It just makes me so sad that they’re literally changing everything in the California Adventure I grew up with.
Thank you! I know DCA 1.0 had a lot of problems, but talking about it not knowing what it wants to be... it definitely is in an identity crisis now, because it CERTAINLY doesn't know what it wants to be. Unless it wants to be an IP dumping ground with very little theming actually related to California.
I dare anyone who goes to Mike and Sulley to the Rescue to scream out "Yeah, Superstar Limo!" at the start of the attraction to see the cast members reaction to hearing that name: I'll give you a hint, it's always disgust followed by "Oh god, NO!"
Tower or Terror was my FAVOURITE! i always say that if they kept tower and builds Guardians next to it, i’d go on Tower more. Guardians is great! But Tower forever has my heart!
Disagree on the Tower of Terror. The Tower managed to work well even despite Twilight Zone barely being remembered. It was like an offshoot of the Haunted Mansions era. Guardian's of the Galaxy is already old news. It was old news when the first one came out. Yeah it's a fun movie but memorable? Is Marvel's canon really worth a huge ride like that? It's oversaturated. The only good thing it has going for it right now is Black Panther and even then so many people are getting sick of superhero movies. Disney investing in Marvel is going to turn out to be a huge mistake just watch.
Oh you mean like the investment in star wars? That going to be a huge mistake too? Disney got smart, can't wait to see universal Orlando lose the rights to marvel and have to re theme the island and for Disney on both coasts get marvel in the parks even more than they have.
I think it will have a pretty decent lifespan, but I do feel that it's less appealing to non-fans than the twilight zone version was. Like people who haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy are going to be put off by it. unless they really like the lead actor I guess
I want a copy of the Carousel of Progress to return to Disneyland leaving the one in Florida alone. I love that ride complete with the upstairs model of EPCOT. For the record, I liked Innoventions, part of it at any rate, just it should have been tied to the Carousel of Progress. Star Wars and other sci-fi franchises in Tomorrowland makes Tomorrowland not about tomorrow but rather just a sci-fi land. Disney ought to change the name of the land, because it has nothing to do with tomorrow anymore. I loved that aspect of the park.
The Carouselof progress has been my least favorite ride since I was a child. The one in WDW gets stuck sometimes and the animatronics always creeps me out.
I loved Tower of Terror, even if as a kid the lead up to it always gave me a fever of anxiety because of how scary it was, but I've also been on it with the new guardians of the galaxy theme and I have to say, it was pretty fun. I do miss the spooky boiler room, but the first time I went on new version I was laughing by the time the drops started happening.
I agree with ALL of these EXCEPT Tower of Terror. To me, this was a major step backward. While the Guardian's of the Galaxy is still a good ride, in fact, the ride itself seems even a little better, I think the THEME itself is not as good. There is room for major improvements for the theme. I really liked the dark, twisted Twilight Zone theme. My only issue with Twilight Zone is it was not a Disney creation. I loved the dark, near-expressionless interaction of the cast members, similar to Haunted Mansion. As the ride is a cosmetic change, they seemed to do a poor "make-up" job over the pre-existing ride. On a similar vibe, I hope the re-theme of California Screamin' improves with the Incredicoaster. I hope that while primarily a cosmetic change, it is done better than Guardians of the Galaxy over Tower of Terror. The change of Paradise Pier to Pixar Pier is OK, but it has me seeing possibly a new name for the park, as it is less about California and more universal.
Why pay for licensing for a show that people honestly don't even remember these days when you can put Marvel licensing which you OWN and don't have to pay licensing for and hopefully draw in a bigger crowd with (which it does). Disney didn't own rights to the Twilight Zone, CBS did.
Patrick Gilbert People absolutely DO remember The Twilight Zone and who gives a shit if they don't? Tower of Terror introduces The Twilight Zone and Rod Serling to a new generation. Better to sell off Marvel entirely and remove all traces of it from the parks and by getting rid of it, you drain the swamp of undesirable Marvel fans. Tower of Terror also fits the California theme which is a great idea for a theme park. Bringing back Tower of Terror would make DCA great again. I could care less about money. I'll put back Tower of Terror behind CBS' backs and not pay a cent if I can when I take over Disney.
Joseph 15 Oh yes let's absolutely hate on Marvel and let's also praise DC because DC is better in every which way. When I take over Disney, I plan on getting rid of every Marvel attraction and cutting ties with Marvel studios, selling them off for billions.
your opinion on Tower of Terror and Autopia has put a wedge between us, hehe. The space in Autopia is what makes it such a great exhale from the hubbub of the park, and the theme of Guardians will not age well, but, i like your vids on haunted mansion and pirates!
There were no chairs in the large area in front of the stage at Videopolis when the area transformed into the dance club. In fact that's where most of the dancing took place with the only chairs being above (and where dance weary 80's kids would go for short breaks or to make out). The photo shown was definitely not representative of the Videopolis events which took place at night.
BadWebDiver my friend got kicked out of Disneyland after spitting on someone down below us , yep, we were on the Skyway ride. Ah, the memories. This was in the early 80's. I was in Jr. High, 8th grade at Tuffree in Placentia, CA. Times sure have changed. Damn. Oh, and I remember my friend scared the shit out of me by swinging the bucket we were in. She was crazy. So was I, for hanging around her. My mother was right about her......😈
8:26 Disney land was built on what used to be orange groves. Guess its a throwback to Disneyland roots. I went there as a small child back in 2004 and i loved that ride. Sad its gone
That's some crazy talk. I, like many SoCal locals, was none to pleased to hear of Tower of Terror's remodeling and having to look at the god awful overlay that in no way fit in with the rest of DCA didn't help, but Guardians is an amazing update on ToT. Once more of the new attractions scheduled to surround it are complete, then the ride won't look so out of place anymore.
I mean c'mon it's cool but it was getting boring. And honestly what you saw inside when you were actually on the ride isn't the best. With guardians of the Galaxy it gives me a hyped up feeling cause you just seeing explosions and fighting and stuff like that
Honestly, as much as I came to enjoy the Guardians ride despite how bad the exterior looks, I'm surprised they didn't just get rid of the Twilight Zone theming and keep it around to capitalize on the popularity of urbex.
If they did that it would look out of place of the upcoming Avengers Campus and it was a matter of time for the Avengers to take down Avatar at the box office.
My Jakob Life I miss it so much but have you gone on the guardian’s of the galaxy ride? It’s neat because it’s different each time. The drops go with whatever 80s song is playing. The ride itself is better but the aesthetics of the creepy old Hollywood feel is more appealing.
Unless you made a typo ("bad"), "bae" died in 2014, when IHOP and Denny's started using it. My condolences to those who were not aware of its passing. I'm not sure if you mean that you loved it like a person...or hated it.
Bae died along with Boo, how those terms ever got past 6 people as a fad I'll never know. Those 2 terms were worse than "Dude" in the 80's and that was horrific. Lol
I feel like... both are equally as great, it is just two things, ToT has been there practically FOREVER! So people are automatically hating on the new ride (even if it is exactly the same, and equally as good) because they are sad to have a piece of childhood go. And second, it just depends on if you prefer Marvel, or Twilight zone, I personally LOVE both, so... Anyway they are doing it for the younger generations.
Videopolis was removed for a very big reason: gang violence. It was designed as a night club from the outset, mainly to attract teens. It attracted them, alright. It also attracted gangs. Gang violence at Disneyland rose exponentially until in 1987, a gang standoff between rival gangs of Samoans and Tongans turned deadly when one of the gang members (can't remember if it was one of the Samoans or Tongans, I'll have to read Mouse Tales again) opened fire. One of the members of the other gang was hit and killed (and a 14-year old boy walking with his family nearby was struck in the arm). That, combined with other gang incidents, led Disneyland to scrap the entire dance club thing in 1990 and made Videopolis a pure theatre, eventually renaming it the Fantasyland Theatre. Also, it's Orange Stinger, not Orange Stringer.
Which I loved. I missed that ride, it was air-conditioned, you got to sit down, the animatronics were cool and history was fascinating. But it had to go when GE stopped sponsorship.
You guys are forgetting that America Sings was there before Innovations and after the carousel progress... and I actually Miss America sings I enjoyed that when I was much younger haha
The Tower of Terror was my FAVORITE! I miss it so much, but I'm at least glad that Guardians of the Galaxy has a similar concept, just different theme. And I am glad that it is longer.
Astrojets.....you must have passed from infancy to adulthood. As a 7-year-old, you could control going way high! The problem, noticed as a youngster, was it was too slow without much maneuverability! Thanks for posting a great memory.
PJ Parker - No it didn't; the original Disney World version is still there: disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/hollywood-studios/twilight-zone-tower-of-terror/. The ride being turned into a Guardians ride in Orlando is Ellen's Energy Adventure at Epcot.
I don't agree with all of them but at the same time I can really see your point of view on these attractions and they're definitely not the best anyways
The country Bear's Jamboree sucks now. Compared to the early 80s And Damn it Captain EO needs to come back even without Michael Jackson. They still have his voice on recordings just the same as they had Vincent Price's voice in the Tower of Terror.
jeez, my mom still has BOXES full of unused tickets from the sixties. my dad was a regional manager for the 'official' moving company for DL. can't remember the company, I need to look it up. they did a lot of Hollywood moves as well, actors, musicians, etc.
How could you say that you never want the country bear jambery back! I watched it at Disney world in Florida and loved it. It’s so cute and the show all together can just easily put a smile on your face
Beth Campbell if you ride the Winnie the Poo ride. Just before the last turn and start the tunnel exit from the ride. If you look backwards you can still see the 3 mounted singing heads still on the wall.
*GASP* How dare you place Tower of Terror on here! Mission Breakout is "fine" at best. I went on it once and I have had zero desire to go on it again. It just doesn't have the same charm that Tower of Terror had. Apples and Oranges? Sure. Could the eventual Marvel Land be great? Of course. But to me, Tower of Terror was beautiful. Mission Breakout is kind of embarrassing to look at, especially from the outside. Tower of Terror was the Haunted Mansion of DCA. Mission Breakout is, and always will be a quick cash grab. Otherwise, amazing video as always!
Alternate I think mission breakout is less of a cash grab than a cash save. Disney didn’t want to pay for external IPs anymore and therefore found this was a good solution. But I do miss the tower...
If anything, it's both a cash grab and a cash save. I do find it annoying that everyone believed the rumor that Tower was replaced by Breakout because Disney lost the IP to Twilight Zone as if it were fact. Based on inside information that I have, that is far from the truth. But it is what it is. It just gives me more drive to get over to Disney World and go on the original.
"But they had to change the Tower of Terror because they couldn't pay the Twilight Zone licence... Even though they still have the Twilight Zone licence in Orlando and Paris, and just licenced Avatar for Animal Kingdom."
Haha what are you talking about the gasoline smelled delicious riding this 20 years ago! Haven’t been to D-land since earlier this decade is the right that different?
I'm 'Old', so during MY childhood/Disneyland 'time' 'Innoventions' was awesome!!! My memories from 1964 (First time I remembered Disneyland, even though my parents took us 1+x's a year since it opened!!) clearly love the 'Country Bear Jamboree', & The ''Rockets''.. I LOVED LOVED LOVED The Grand Canyon Mule Ride best!!! I'm glad my now 16 yr old oldest granddaughter got to get the S#!t scared out of here on 'The Tower of Terror' too...lol ..
I didn't close the window for Tower of Terror but I took you off of full-screen and was about half a second away from typing an angry comment before you said you loved it and just are excited for the change... now here I am.
Have to agree that Inner Space should come back. But one really bad ride that I'm glad is gone is the Rocket Rods. Really lame, trying to use the People Mover track at increased speed, and it sucked.
Kinda agree, the 1967 Rocket Jets ruled over the old Astojets. But then again, EVERYTHING about the 1960s Disneyland (and the 1967 "New" Tomorrowland) ruled over everything that followed. Sixties were the best time in history.
I miss the Sky Ride. I remember when someone committed suicide off it and people got high/had sex in them, which all caused the ride to be removed too soon. As a kid, I was very disappointed, as I loved going on it. I still remember the metal sounds it made when it arrived at each station and the silence/smoothness during the ride. It was a nice, quiet escape from the park and a fun way from getting from one side to the next if your feet were tired from all the walking/standing. :) I always hoped we'd get the blue one. Autopia sucked after they prevented bumping. When I was a kid, my family loved ramming each other super hard on that ride. XD It was so fun. But I'm sure tons of people got whiplash and various other neck injuries, so... -_- And, yes, I miss Tower of Terror. It was so much fun and I loved the atmosphere. Haven't been on the GotG ride that replaced it yet. When I go back, I might if there's time.
According to the book "Mouse Tales" by David Koenig, the Skyway was removed because its operating budget was reallocated to the Indiana Jones Adventure.
LOL Obama got kicked out of the park for smoking a cig on the sky ride when he was young. He's still a hero to me, especially for being honest about that story. Both parks could really up their act in terms of being fun for the adults!
The last time I was at Disneyland, was the late 80s. I grew up in LA and used to go every year (70s - 80s). I know some rides were "jokes" and people didn't like them...but they were part and parcel to Disneyland! To get rid of them was/is a huge shame. My memories of Disneyland, even as a teen...are wonderful and magical. The Haunted House, Pirates of the Caribbean, Small World, Country Bear Jamboree, The Submarines, train ride through time (loved the dinosaurs), the Matterhorn, the Jungle Boat Ride...etc... When they added Space Mountain, that was awesome, and then the train roller coaster, that was good fun too! I don't think I'd bother going or even taking my kids (I had some kids late in life), and it's sooo expensive now. I miss LA back in the 70's and 80's...would never go back now, and Disneyland can go away no for all I care too.
I haven't gone to a Disney park for over 30 years, which is good, since I don't want to destroy my memories of my visits to Disneyland in 1955 and Disney World in 1971.
I have read that the Flying Saucer attraction was problematic because small children couldn't control the saucers, and the fatties just sat there unmoving.
I agree about the Country Bear Jamboree!!! I was about to be mad when it came up but I listened long enough!! I will never forgive Disney for taking it out! And the People Mover as you said. Love both of those!
It's "Orange Stinger" not Stringer. Hence all the bees. I worked that ride back in the day.
that makes it even weirder 😂
I always wondered why there were bees! Makes a little more sense now.
I loved that ride. And the smell!
Cool
Journey into your imagination. I HATED IT. With every fiber of my being. I was a kid when journey into imagination quiz was in Epcot, and I’m not even joking, when my family found out that journey into imagination was closed and it was replaced with the abomination that journey into your imagination was in its place, asked my mom, “ can we sue?”
OH IT WAS TERRIBLE LIKE WHAT THE HECK NO FIGMENT OR DREAM FINDER well still no dream finder now BUT ATLEAST FIGMENT AND SOME FUNNY GAGS!
I'm glad I wasn't alive to see that abomination, yet sad that I never got to see the Dreamfinder version.
Kirkland! You mean old f#k!
m v I bet mr.Kirkland’s dead 💀
Hahahahahahaha
This is a golden memory! And that prick is probably kicking dust.
Wait, lol you did that
Don’t swear
When I was younger, I thought that the Orange Stringer was a peach and was an homage for James and the Giant Peach...but now that I think about it, it is an ORANGE and not a PEACH. Orange for...Orange County!
I'm glad it's gone, too.
"That's right" *long pause* "Shrek 2 baby" This had me cracking up
The Tower of Terror was my favorite ride I've ever been on. I loved the theme and the ride, and everything else. As much as I love Marvel, I wish that they hadn't chosen to close Tower of Terror
Twenty Paphonies its still a thing in disny land paris and there is no plans to change it yet
Thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!! I've never been on it either but I definitely know it was an awesome ride!! I guess we'll just have to go to Florida.
You could always go to Orlando, we still have Tower of Terror
Twenty Paphonies samee
That whole DCA park doesn’t know what it wants t be.
i'm honestly so sad to see tower of terror gone, i absolutely loved the ambiance and it reminded me of back before they started cleaning up the haunted mansion. though, i can understand making way for new themes and that it's available at disney world. just the fact that i'm 6 hours away from disneyland so i can drive down and visit maybe once every few years but it's gonna be a long time before i have the money to fly to disney world.

It still exist in Disneyland Paris at the time I made this comment and an other Disney Park in florida idk which tho

and it's kinda different imo
Rolfathan As someone who LOVES marvel like I LOVE marvel...Ive never been so mad to see something marvel related.
well said.
And it made thematic sense. The HOLLYWOOD Tower Hotel in your California Park is a no-brainer.
Rolfathan you should ride the one in florida and you will change your mind
Rolfathan Right? My brother and I had the same conversation.
“It looks like your riding torpedos around a lighthouse,” 😂😂😂😂 “about the history of California, Please, everyone. Contain your excitement.” 😂😂😂
The honey bee population has dropped so dramatically in the last 10 years, it probably would't be a problem anymore.
Maria DR everyone knows you’re supposed to make out on the dark rides. Did plenty of that in the haunted mansion.
I will never forget the first time I rode the Tower Of Terror. A girl that was exiting the ride was bawling her eyes out, her jeans soaked in pee!
..lol..
Milo Pepper When I went on my seat was yellow and wet and I whispered "I regret this"
That sounds really disgusting... and this happened often?? No wonder they closed it, having to shut it down and clean it everytime is a lot of work. I’d see why they’d close it...
@@SomeOne-ih7po it's still the same ride, just now themed as Guardians of the galaxy.
Some One
You do realize some woman had her kid pee into a poncho laid on the floor in Flight of Passage in front of all the other people, and then when confronted with a cast member, said to “feel him! he’s not wet”? My mom and my stepdad were there. The utmost most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen.
the two boys in orange sweaters at 1:56 could be my brother and I! I mean it likely isnt, but this is around when we first arrived in the US and visited Disneyland for the first time.
Find photos from the day you went, that would be so cool uwu
I'm sorry, California Screamin is going to be *what*
I actually enjoyed the orange stinger when it was around even though my little kid brain didn't understand what the theme was about
Innoventions was the COOLEST THING in the early 2000s 😂😂
yea fuck this giy fuck that stupid iron man shrine that replaced it
I disagree about Guardians of the Galaxy instead of Twilight Zone. Twilight Zone is one of the best classic horror shows of all time.
Yeahhhhhh...........😣
I think they got rid of tower of terror because the newer generations won’t know what twilight zone is.
@@christopherleon7236 Ironically, it's coming back so a new generation could get into it. (Honestly, think they could do with making a new adult-focused dark ride)
I felt upset about tower of terror as guardians of the galaxy isn’t that good I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED the tower of terror
Please tell me that the Tower Of Terror is Still There, I’d love to go back ?
@James Guy Only in Orlando. The one in California is gone.
Hello James!
Happy Greetings from Sunny San Diego , California.

Too bad Super Star Limo is still alive in our thoughts.
Cookie Chop and it still haunts us to this day.
Not if you bleach your brain! I do and I'm avsodmky fdisnge
It was like having a bad nightmare, it stays with a person. As annual season past hold for many years, I look at Super Star Limo as wasting 25 minutes (including wait time) of my life I can't get back.
Glad I never went on that ride lol
The worst ride ever!
Anyone remember Honey, I Shrunk The Audience? No? Haha, good...
Think Away Films oh geez, I went to that back when I went to Disneyland. I don’t remember a thing about it, which is maybe a good thing.
that used to be in the old captain eo theater at epcot too when i was a kid
Think Away Films not everybody lives in California or Florida
Of course I do. It was at Disneyland for 12 years.
I prefer the original Pirates of the Caribbean
Yass the pirates of carbbiean
???
I don't think swings have anything to do with oranges, but oranges have a lot to do with California.
I did, in fact, ride a flying saucer at Disneyland in the early '60s.
hebneh my mom's mom got to ride it in 1961 my mom got a clip of it
turtlelover873 vlogs my mom was also the last person that rode it 1 year before it closed
,I rode the Tower Of Terror before in 2010 when I was one I wasn't scared I was happy
Crash Badger I'm not being rude but... Talk about show off
I always liked the flying saucers!
I always liked 20,000 leagues under the sea.
Yeah, that was a great ride. I haven't been on it since they rebranded it with the Finding Nemo, but I imagine it's probably not as memorable.
I always envied Disneyland for having Mr. Toad and 20,000 Leagues. I rode both during my first trip to WDW back in 1976 and loved them, but of course when I went back as a teenager in the 80's both were gone. :(
That was my favorite 😢
I liked how the ToT opened up and you saw the Outside and then it dropped that freaked me out a little as one with a fear of hights
i went on it for the first time earlier this month and we got fast passes too . hearing that there was background conversation amongst the characters is painful. ill have to keep that in mind fr the next time lmao
Heh heh!
I really liked innoventions! I would force my family to go in with me. I thought it was so magical and an exciting look on the future. That being said, it was a waste of space and outdated. But it holds a special place in my heart.
me too
I feel the same
America Sings holds a place in my heart. Same building.
I never been to innovations but always wanted to check it out.. Last time I was at Disneyland about 3 years ago it was filled with Marvel stuff
I feel you
I totally agree with the list, but...man the Tower of Terror just felt so good there. The change makes sense considering Marvel is set to totally replace the Hollywood backlot, but ToT theming was incredible, with emersion starting in Buena Vista Street with the tower in the distance and advertisements for concerts in the hotel in stores on the street. Oh well, I love Guardians too, so I'm over it... almost.
Disneylander it’s still standing in Florida
the building and interior were so cool and very disney`esq the props and antiques really made it creepy and realistic
Disneylander Hollywood Backlot was my shit when I was like 14.....
Disneylander the tot conversion should’ve happened after all of marvel land was completed.
I’m just sad bc it’s California adventures and they took out all the California rides but California screamin
Zach M. Ughhhhh your comment just made me laugh entirely too hard x)
I wish Superstar Limo was still there... I have never been to California Adventure, but if Superstar Limo was still there, that would be the first thing I would ride, so I could marvel at its crapulence, and wonder to myself, what the hell were they thinking... awesome.
It wasn’t a top 10 video. He was just talking about 10 in no particular order.
Zach M. ;)
I thought it would be #1, just for the creepy Drew Carey.
I remember the bear jamboree when i was a kid. I didn't live far from disneyland so I feel lucky being able to enjoy the show. Another great show was the America sings. Wish they woukd bring those back
They moved a lot of the America Sings animatronics into Splash Mountain.
Hands off my most favorite attraction at DL --Pirates of the Caribbean I’ll get Sgt. Hartman on Disney!!
Tower of Terror. Amazing ride. Now no one will know twilight zone... Except Florida. Florida is cool though.
Totally Random Nerd or Paris or Tokyo
Tokyo's isn't based on The Twilight Zone.
Tower of Terror was the best ride...
Exactly and I just have always felt like it belonged in DCA
Jan. 2nd 2018 it will be gone :'(
3:49 That was the best story i’ve ever heard in my life.I’m literally crying and shaking right now.
-sees title- I bet flying saucers are gonna be in this one
-first item- I WAS RIGHT.
Not to worry, they live on in early versions of Roller Coaster Tycoon!
I literally cried when Paradise Pier left 😭
Edit : Since tower of terror and Soaring of Cali left, paradise Pier was the only thing that represented California.
August Macias no thank you
Lmaooooo dare excepted!!! 😂😂
superstar limo became mike and sully to the rescue..
How many current cast members even know such a ride ever existed?
David Marks
I don't know
They closed The Great Movie Ride at DisneyWorld. Broke my ❤️😢
Yeah I’m also sad that the great movie ride is gone
It almost cracked my heart well OK maybe it didn’t crack my heart it was my favorite one because of Indiana Jones
Yep atleast I rode it one last time
@@redneckrepairs8594 Same
Tower or Terror was my FAVOURITE! i always say that if they kept tower and builds Guardians next to it, i’d go on Tower more.
"even then so many people are getting sick of superhero movies."
Boy your comment did not age at all. It was old news when it was first posted.
Oh you mean like the investment in star wars? That going to be a huge mistake too? Disney got smart, can't wait to see universal Orlando lose the rights to marvel and have to re theme the island and for Disney on both coasts get marvel in the parks even more than they have.
Agreed.
Why not America Sings? Its the best theater attraction just like Carousel of Progress
The Carouselof progress has been my least favorite ride since I was a child. The one in WDW gets stuck sometimes and the animatronics always creeps me out.
The carousel of progress is one of my FAVORITE rides at WDW (even when I was little) , sadly I didn’t get to go on it on my last trip to Disney.
Maybe you don’t know but Southern California used to have a lot of orange groves especially in the spot the swings are in at paradise pier
The county is named Orange for a reason. :)
Disneyland itself was built on an orange grove. That's how he got the land so cheaply at the time.
Timothy Carruthers Didn't they move those to another location?
I loved Tower of Terror, even if as a kid the lead up to it always gave me a fever of anxiety because of how scary it was, but I've also been on it with the new guardians of the galaxy theme and I have to say, it was pretty fun. I do miss the spooky boiler room, but the first time I went on new version I was laughing by the time the drops started happening.
Disneyland used to bring in one-time named acts and they performed at the Videopolis stage.
"shrek 2 babey
shrek 4 my friend.
rattyeely iiiiiiii
I want a shrek 4
Oh boy that’s my favourite Disney film
SHREK 4 IS REAL. It came out in 2010 and it was called Shrek Forever After.
The tower of terror should stay 😪
I'll put back Tower of Terror behind CBS' backs and not pay a cent if I can when I take over Disney.
stanfordite let’s not hate on Marvel
Joseph 15 Oh yes let's absolutely hate on Marvel and let's also praise DC because DC is better in every which way. When I take over Disney, I plan on getting rid of every Marvel attraction and cutting ties with Marvel studios, selling them off for billions.
stanfordite what the actual fuck????!??! Lmaoo, I see, bad taste and bad humor, you may click off now, pressed DC fan
your opinion on Tower of Terror and Autopia has put a wedge between us, hehe. The space in Autopia is what makes it such a great exhale from the hubbub of the park, and the theme of Guardians will not age well, but, i like your vids on haunted mansion and pirates!
Should bring back in Disneyland Country Bear Jamboree.
Thomas Dickensheets agreed
;)
Yes! I hear they still have the original ride in Tokyo, Japan strangely enough
But the one disney land is many adventures of winnie the pooh dark ride
@@bsyclaresmith9953 yes it would need a new location, I still want it back.
+JImi Jones. The Skyway was notorious for that - and spittin'!
Yes, there is a good reason Disneyland is located in “Orange” County. Most of the flat areas of central county were one endless orange grove.
Well we are in Orange County...
Jimi Jones L O L
*+Gbird* Oh yeah...and also, there's that...can't believe nobody said that sooner, actually...
I fucking loved that ride as a kid. That and california screamin were the only reason I ever went to california adventure.
The Guardians makeover of Tower of Terror is awful. I have to strongly disagree with you on that one. But thanks for the video.
As long as it still takes you up to the top and drops i'm fine with it.
Well I strongly disagree with you. I was skeptical about the ride, but Guardians was so much fun!
I mean c'mon it's cool but it was getting boring. And honestly what you saw inside when you were actually on the ride isn't the best. With guardians of the Galaxy it gives me a hyped up feeling cause you just seeing explosions and fighting and stuff like that
Christopher Garcia yeah but they had to time crunch it wasn’t like the Matterhorn’s remake
this video is so well done and I dig the open and honest quality of the narrator's voice. kudos
I loved the old timey Motiv behind the Tower of Terror. It gave DCA character! They should of left it alone.
Tower Of Terror? Please put down the crack pipe.

PASS IT. . . 🗿🚬

Sorry but TOWER OF TERROR IS BAE!!!!!
My Jakob Life I miss it so much but have you gone on the guardian’s of the galaxy ride? It’s neat because it’s different each time. The drops go with whatever 80s song is playing. The ride itself is better but the aesthetics of the creepy old Hollywood feel is more appealing.
He'll ya
Unless you made a typo ("bad"), "bae" died in 2014, when IHOP and Denny's started using it. My condolences to those who were not aware of its passing. I'm not sure if you mean that you loved it like a person...or hated it.
My Jakob Life agreed
Bae died along with Boo, how those terms ever got past 6 people as a fad I'll never know. Those 2 terms were worse than "Dude" in the 80's and that was horrific. Lol
NO NO NO NO TOWWER OF TERROR WAS WAY BETTER THAT GAURDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Dude TOWER OF TERRER WAS WAYYYYYYY BETTER THAN MISSION BREAK OUT

@@somecartoonweeb3947 i've been on it and I still think Tower of Terror is better
I like both rides, even thought I was too scared to go on Tower of Terror as a kid.
I like GUARDIANS more, but I like the fear of TOT
Country Beat Jamboree should come back with Skyway, People Mover, and new versions of a whole bunch of other things.
Before Innovations, that structure was originally the Carousel of Progress
Which I loved. I missed that ride, it was air-conditioned, you got to sit down, the animatronics were cool and history was fascinating. But it had to go when GE stopped sponsorship.
You guys are forgetting that America Sings was there before Innovations and after the carousel progress... and I actually Miss America sings I enjoyed that when I was much younger haha
'Now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of our lives..' rotate to next era.

Carousel of Progress came back to WDW Tomorrowland.
Tower of terror really

Beth Campbell if you ride the Winnie the Poo ride. Just before the last turn and start the tunnel exit from the ride. If you look backwards you can still see the 3 mounted singing heads still on the wall.
Me too!!
EnterUser Why not just bring the Tokyo version to California and translate it into English? That would have been perfectly fine!
"But they had to change the Tower of Terror because they couldn't pay the Twilight Zone licence... Even though they still have the Twilight Zone licence in Orlando and Paris, and just licenced Avatar for Animal Kingdom."
Nooooo! That's not why!
To be honest I miss the old Autotopia with the old car theme, I really don’t like the asimo robots but I like the new theme and it smells less bad
Yea! I miss Dusty
Mr Chowder I’m rly sad it’s Honda now too cheveron made it interesting
I hate my phone *honestly
Haha what are you talking about the gasoline smelled delicious riding this 20 years ago! Haven’t been to D-land since earlier this decade is the right that different?
That would be diesel, not gasoline. ;-)
The smell of Disneyland to me will always be a mixture of popcorn, chlorine, and diesel fuel.
Dear gaaawd I wish I could go back in time to the good ole days and run thru this park
Have to agree that Inner Space should come back. But one really bad ride that I'm glad is gone is the Rocket Rods. Really lame, trying to use the People Mover track at increased speed, and it sucked.
BRING BACK TOWER OF TERROR
It's still at Disney World! Come here to enjoy it!
FinnyThePorg, and Tokyo DisneySea..
“That’s not gonna happen buddy!”- Sonic The Hedgehog (1999)
Country bear Jamboree....yes....miss that one!!!! Good video, THANKS!
Kinda agree, the 1967 Rocket Jets ruled over the old Astojets. But then again, EVERYTHING about the 1960s Disneyland (and the 1967 "New" Tomorrowland) ruled over everything that followed. Sixties were the best time in history.
I love offhand Disneyland
Azman86
I see you also love Star Wars
Azman86 uuuuuuhhhhh
Agree
Tower of terror was the best ride there I miss tower of terror 😭
Y1YOLA. I feel for you
I miss the Sky Ride.
And, yes, I miss Tower of Terror. It was so much fun and I loved the atmosphere. Haven't been on the GotG ride that replaced it yet. When I go back, I might if there's time.
The gang-o's were spitting on people and throwing things from the Sky Ride.
SuperYoshiFan10090 yikes 😨
According to the book "Mouse Tales" by David Koenig, the Skyway was removed because its operating budget was reallocated to the Indiana Jones Adventure.
@@Dive-Bar-Casanova No gang-o's...it was me and my 7 year old brother. We loved spitting on people from that ride!
I love the way you bring up the people mover in everyone of your videos 😂
Shrek 2 is the best Shrek movie to date!
The flying saucers actually looks fun
I love this idea for a video - things that should stay dead lol
I have read that the Flying Saucer attraction was problematic because small children couldn't control the saucers, and the fatties just sat there unmoving.
I agree about the Country Bear Jamboree!!! I was about to be mad when it came up but I listened long enough!! I will never forgive Disney for taking it out! And the People Mover as you said. Love both of those!
