- If your question is which device is better Pico 4 Vs Quest 2 you need to look at specific features such as looking at how hand tracking performs between these two VR devices. Also know that Quest 2 vs Pico 4 may not be too fair of a comparison since Meta has gone through multiple hand tracking versions, however today you can see which one performs and tracks your hands a lot more accurately.
✅ Also I've done multiple tests with Unity by using Oculus Integration and Interaction SDK, both work amazingly well, so far I haven't been able to get hand tracking working at all with PICO 4 even after following every single article provided in their documentation.

The quest pro still is worse than pico 4 quest pros clarity is worse its price is bad even tho it got decreased to 1k its still bad compared to pico also pico has tons of better comfortability pico 4 is also better in pcvr because of these reasons it has a stronger battery even without pcvr its better because it has cooling also has a motor for ipd adjustment and so on.Lots more + for pico 4 instead of quest pro. Also if u want good eye and face tracking u could just get pico enterprise which is cheaper and still has all those benefits up there .
@@popomelon7878 Pico 4 is so bad, i returned mine, software on Quest is miles ahead. I'll buy the Quest 3 when it releases

Nah the quest 2 felt like that at first too. It's just the software they need to upgrade to better identify your hands and what they're doing. But the quest 2 got upgraded cameras over the quest 1 which helped but the pico has similar cameras so it's just down to a software race now lol
Tbh it's how my quest 2 looked and performed. Though I've not had one for months now to see if it's better.

Isn't pico 4's hand tracking a "developer mode" option? I think we need to give them more time to catch up to meta, but I believe they will put up a good fight someday

pico 4s hand tracking isnt fully out yet like u said u need to enable dev mode on pico 4 but pico is about to get a major update in sense of "hand tracking"

people dump on Meta/RealityLabs but these guys are spending big dollars to OUR benefit. I would not give up my QPro for anything that's on the market right now or in the foreseeable future. Hope you can provide more Quest content soon Dilmer. Especially Spatial Anchors and Scene Model. thanks
I completely agree, there is a lot of competition and I have tried many XR devices but the Quest Pro is one of the greatest, the PICO 4 has one thing I really like and that’s how comfortable it is, I can wear it for hours and hours without any discomfort.

Isn’t quest 2 gonna lose support and not be playable like the quest 1 in 2024?
They both seem very similar to me. Most people won't notice the difference.
Also there's a game called Unplugged: Air Guitar , which I was trying yesterday. It uses Hand Tracking and it's lots of fun. About the performance, it was very accurate following my hands, gestures, the movement of each finger... so... I think we're embarking into an very cool era for Gamers & Developers.

the hand tracking in your pico is more accurate than the ones in my pico :'(
It did a good job this time around but it still needs a software update to make it better :)
It also depends on the light conditions where you are. I tried in dim conditions and it resulted in rather bad tracking. Turned on more light, and it was MUCH better.
Pico 4 has better tracking when it comes down to your fingers
Which is what u will be using in games that support it
Turn on more light to make it easier to see your hands, clean the cameras with a microfiber cloth, and if you want to push it even further, wear some white/contrast gloves
With those tips my pico tracks my hands better than meta tracks me

imagine Meta makes a update and allows dev to implant those fbt into any that has fbt game. bonelabs/works/VRC/etc, menus ui's would be near completed as well so controllers would only be used when your playing games. laser option or touch menu option for all at that point obviously
would never work due to the fbt needing base stations and you will need a PC to plug in the dongles anyways

Quest Pro will be better for social. Hands, and now face tracking too, started off poor but continues and will continue to improve as time goes on. The XR however is some needed sweat for Meta to not get complacent in other areas, though.

Is the quest 2 using leap motion or just the native Handtracking?
I really need to make a choice between those two and I am developing exclusively for handtracking.

It looks like the VR Pico is equipped with a sensor camera, while the Quest 2 seems to have an additional separate camera added to the front, if that's true, maybe the Pico is the best because it's included sensor camera.
Quest tracking is pretty impressive, however Pico tracking is still getting improvements to it and gradually will get better with time I feel. Tbh tho who uses it except when watching RUclips on it or smth

Personally i use to develop with Pico Hand tracking in unity have lot lot of Problems, first of all the fingers animation are not really blended well, for example if you try to pinch the index with the thumb slowly, you will notice that the fingers will close automatically. Beside that, i know is a new feature, but also they were working on it for more then a year. For example on December 2021 they told us that would be avaiable in the Pico 3 but then they took really lot lot of time. Also now if you try to work with their library in Unity, most of features are not working.
Interesting and that was my perception when I tried their hand tracking features, I couldn’t get anything to work or it was clunky, I am curious how this will improve overtime and hopefully next updates do get hand tracking improvements. Thanks for your feedback !
@@dilmerv yeah i really hope too, because can have really a good potential, but for example I had to implement the Grab by myself, along with the Gesture Detector and also with a Mirror Mode to Mirror the hands
I saw the Pico hands disappearing at times, but the quest didnt do that, plus they have full arm tracking as well, so id say quest wins
Quest definitely is ahead of the game due to its time evolving this tech.
The thing is to hold your hands still and see if it can see them. Of course with movement it will both pick em up. The Test is to see which one loses tracking from non moving hands. 😉👌

That’s how Quest 1 started and progressively got software updates and a new hardware which made it a lot better, I am sure PICO will improve over time.
After the new hand tracking update for the Quest 2, It definitely takes the cake.

Quest 2 seems to be better, but I'll buy the one that abolishes the controls first to use this technology or a similar one to do the same functions, the only problem is the movement.

If you have the OCULUS Quest 2 before the change about meta the hand tracking is so shaky and you can’t really use it the that much because it is impossible to use

Sometimes the Oculus tracking can mess up though
It got good updates that fixed the main glitches, plus the pico was messing up a lot in the video

quest 2's tracking depends on the HZ's, it can track insanely smooth and fast on 120 and 200 hz

The hand tracking for the quest was awful when it first came out. If you played Elixr like two years ago you couldn’t move your hand super fast at all. If you did it would lose tracking.

I own a quest 2 but without passthrough my hand tracking is the same as pico 4
I had quest 2 and now i have pico 4. Pico 4 is so superior to quest 2. So lacking of good hand tracking is not a big deal.

I didn’t, I used the built in quest 2 hand tracking.
I think the pico 4 has better finger tracking (you can see its a bit laggy but the fingers are fine) while the quest 2 has better movement of the hand. Personly i would like a pico 4 but I'm stuck with a quest 2 which I'm fine with.
