@Bigger Issues I agree with you but when people say they cheat because of the rules No time limits is the best rule set. Headbutts all of that. Just no eye gouge. Or fishhooks. Or biting. Groin strikes were ok.

I wrestled in college and understand that once I "take down" any fighter to the ground, there is no more boxing or kickboxing. So, unless you study the grappling arts, you will be at a large disadvantage. You must study "ground fighting" or Jiu Jitsu, as well as, the striking arts to be a well rounded Mixed Martial Arts Fighter. It is a concept Bruce Lee believed in during the 60's-70's.
Interesting thing is Benny Urquidez studied Judo which is what helped him fighting under International Rules in the Clinch. The issue is Benny is an In-Fighter so that aggressive style, not knowing how to deal with leg takedowns, and being the inferior fighter on the ground. Were probably the key factors.
its ground and pound ive seen it so many times, jiu jitsu fighters get beat to a pulp just like gracie. just like brock lesnar did to fighters. the one who can take the most and is the toughest with the most will wins.

The Gracies are great story tellers. Where are they now? Answer hiding under a rock! You don't need to waste 8 years of your life learning Jiu-Jitsu but a a few moths neutralizing it. :)) The story that Jiu-Jitsu would work for the skinny guy was a nice story. All the Gracies are not competing in the UFC, why because they've lost many times. They were humiliated by Sakuraba in Japan too. They always look for an excuse. And my friends they Gracies surrendered to Sakuraba, they threw the towel. By the way, the first UFC followed special rules imposed by Rorion that favor Royce. Royce used illegal drugs and he was defefead many times. The myth was over. Jiu-Jitsu can NOT win in the UFC, look at the statistics. The Gracies do NOT compete in Vale Tudo nor in the UFC because Jiu-Jitsu alone is not enough. They got their ass kicked.
I don't know all the details, but noone should be ashamed for stepping in the ring. But yeah, I think the Royce/Saku fight was an hour straight, so in favour for the BJJ guy, kind of. Gracie JJ seems to be great, but you'll probably have a hard time against well rounded and strong fighters.
@@ScorpionSuerte You are not going to easily beat a Pro boxer with jujitsu. They have amazing footwork, they can knock you out with just a well timed blow. I would hope that the competition success etc. of the Gracie family would speak for itself and spreading rumors would be unnecessary.
I certainly would like to hear the other side of the story. The fact that he’s up here broadcasting his tales of conquest actually speaks more to his character as a martial artist.
You would think Benny and his 67-1 record would speak for itself Technically 67-0 But the Gracie family since day one has always been about changing the rules to better suit them The simple fact of the matter is that if you look at the advertising and what they say about other people They are far from humble and in my opinion the Gracie family as a whole is disgraceful

Rorion never does videos about his losses, such as his ill-fated encounter with Ed Parker. What Royce did in the early UFC is impressive, but the Gracies didn't do so well in Pride where they couldn't manipulate the rules. Having pointed that out, I have respect for the Gracies and their version of jiu-jitsu.
First, there was never an "ill-fated encounter" with Ed Parker. Rorion would have smoked him in seconds just like all the other videos of Gracies smoking Kenpo instructors in seconds. Second, Rickson Gracie was the undefeated Pride champion for years as well as other Gracies. Learn before you post.
@@ScorpionSuerte That wasn't any ordinary 5'6" kickboxer. Two things that make this a little hard to believe: 1. The Gracies didn't show up to fight anyone at a school without recording, taking pictures and/or bragging about it so they could sell their school as #1 in Brazil and eventually the world. So how he just went there with his buddy and his mom or whatever seems far fetched. 2. Benny the Jet was a professional fighter and it seems out of character that he would go out of his way to set up a sparring match with some random guy for no money. Hearing his stories he always spoke about how he was constantly challenged but didn't step up until money was involved. I could be wrong, but this just seems a bit unbelievable to be true.

@superstrangevideo how can you confirm its true? I'm saying that it's "far fetched" since it doesn't align with how Gracies behaved at their inception...going to schools and recording so they can show others they're the best. Heck, they created the UFC just to display their "superiority". So if I can say that it's far fetched but cannot claim that it's false, where is your evidence to say it is true?
I don't doubt that Benny could lose to Rorion if he did not know him or his style of BJJ. Anytime people are faced with something new they can be a victim to it until it is understood. If Benny were in his prime with the skills he had and had been given the training in BJJ that is available today he would have probably defeated any of the Gracies' that are his size. He was a superior athlete.
Against a Gracie his size I wouldn't get surprised if he won to begin with. His striking/stand up would be superior to the Gracies. And what I understand he studied Judo. It seems like people forget that grappling existed long before BJJ.
Bill "Superfoot" Wallace would have been an interesting fight against a Gracie. Since unlike Benny he was an out fighter and before he ever got in karate or kickboxing he was a College Wrestler and a Judoka
Bill Wallace wouldn´t have had a chance against a Gracie. Chuck Norris was also a black belt in judo and he was trained by Gene LeBell in grappling. It didn´t help him at all against Royce and Rickson Gracie in 1988 when they were rolling. Norris said he was like an amateur. The problem for the Gracie´s were however that people learned BJJ and become better. Look at Ken Shamrock, he lost the first fight against Royce but a couple of years later in their second fight he didn´t.
I'm not calling you a liar but this all feels very story time with Steven Segalish to me.... also learn how to tie your belt, you're a grand master its embarrassing.
I have yet to see the Gracie’s win a competition that was not rigged with special rules in their favor. Certain people were turned away from the first UFC’s because the Gracie’s did not want to get dominated by other grapplers. The Gracie Scam Jitsu legends have 0 success in MMA since it is no longer owned by them to rig in their favor. Don’t get me wrong. They did a lot for Jiu Jitsu and I enjoy training it. It is not him the Christ of martial arts and the Gracie’s are far better scam artist than martial artists.
thats false. nobody was turned away from the early UFC's. If the Gracies were protecting Royce it would have made no sense to allow Shamrock in or Dan Severn.

Christophe Leininger was a Judo Champ and an alternate on the Olympic team. He got beat against Shamrock though.
The problem is that Benny was a great stand-up fighter but when you put those guys on the ground, they´re helpless because they were used to fight in a stand-up position and didn´t have any knowledge about BJJ. The same with Chuck Norris, great fighter in the 60´s and early 70´s but when he sparred with Rickson and Royce in 1988, he was like an amateur on the ground according to Chuck. Keep in mind that Norris was a black belt in judo and was trained by Gene LeBell in grappling but when he met the Gracie´s, he didn´t have a chance in grappling. After meeting the Gracie´s Norris started in BJJ and is now a multiple black belt. Rorion: It would be great when you would speak one day about Chuck Norris and what ended up your relationship. I heard it had something to do with money because you demanded too much money. But there must be a reason because after that he was trained by your cousins the Machado´s.
Norris was a phony point Karate guy. The likes of him don't even belong in the discussion. He has told that lie about being a professional fighter so many times that he actually believes that fantasy himself. Apparently, so do you!
Rorion's stories have this underlying theme of him humiliating other martial arts masters, exposing their arrogance and ignorance, while he takes subtle jabs at them masked in humility. It's fascinating and infuriating at the same time to see him continue to do this. It's as if his audience hasn't grown in intelligence from the early 90s when BJJ was relatively unknown and MMA wasn't a household name.

Interesting thing is Benny Urquidez studied Judo which is what helped him fighting under International Rules in the Clinch. Two things that make this a little hard to believe:

I’ve never had respect for the Gracie’s.
Another "DUX" story.
Bill "Superfoot" Wallace would have been an interesting fight against a Gracie. Since unlike Benny he was an out fighter and before he ever got in karate or kickboxing he was a College Wrestler and a Judoka
Why fight him when you can challenge a 5’2 hapkido naster who doesn’t even strike
Benny was a Judoka and a Boxer. It sounds like you convince Benny to do an exhibition, but you took it a step further. I imagine that was the reason for the cash challenge that came out later. You’re a silly man.
This isn’t the 80s. Strikers are well versed on the ground now.
You mean they learnt jiu jitsu because Rorion successfully demonstrated it's necessity to the world?
@@ScorpionSuerte Yep I agree. BJJ is an incredibly effective and beautiful art however my point still stands.
So was benny.
This guys bullshit Benny would knock this guy
So what was the point of this video? They still beefing? Haha
This is BS
You know, it is easy to say anything about anybody, when the person you're talking trash about isn't there to defend themselves. I am very suspicious of anyone who posts their videos of how they beat all these famous people (Benny the Jet, Hee Il Cho, etc. etc.) yet never have these people on their RUclips channel....and the story is always the same. The guy giving the talk always wins. Bring on some of these people you say you beat and interview them.
that was NOT Benny The Jet this man is talking about because Benny never taught on basketball courts at YMCAs
What you don't seem to understand is that back when Benny and all these other so called masters were challenged, no one had enough grappling experience back then to counter the moves, like we see today. So you are confusing what's been done more recently, with what was done in 1988. Why isn't this obvious to you? Like grow up dude.
LIAR
Hard tale to swallow. Not against "The Jet". Maybe BJJ is great once you get someone on the floor, but Benny had an array of kicking and punching combos to deter that from happening. Moreover the one on the receiving end of Benny's techniques would be in serious trouble.
Okay fair enough the Gracies did conquer UFC for awhile in 90s but had their losses too. To my knowledge at least 2x. A japanese Judoka beat a Gracie by submission & Strongman Marquiz KO a Gracie with a punch.
-There's no 1 particular style or persons who is Numero Uno.
They didn't conquer anything, just beat people who didn't know what they were doing on the ground. They just took advantage, when people got to grips with the basics of ground, it was all over. Where are the 'legends' now, not one of them get anywhere, they got now dozens of children each. Kron is probably the only one who has won a few.
@@adielkhan3568Yes. i see your point.
kimura with judo and sakuraba but there are others
lie benny would kick ur s he was blck belt judo and was training with lebell
I wished y'all make a movie 🎥 it'll be much better than what we're use to
2 sides too this story . Benny was also a Black belt in Judo & WORKED with Judo Gene Labelle. The jet KO'd me with a liver shot @ his dojo in Panorama city in LA's valley
Again, NOT before he was challenged. Benny himself admits this. He trained with LeBell AFTER he was challenged.
Yeah the more times I watch it the more I can see that smug look on his face I think the Viking Samurai needs to have an interview with this guy
I trained with both Sensei Benny Urquidez and the Gracie's inthe 80s and 90s, Benny would have broken these BJJBBs in half.
It's actually true, but Urquidez has an ego the size of Texas, and has tried his best to hide this incident. When the UFC first premiered in 1993, Urquidez was quoted as saying "it's the worst thing ever to happen to the martial arts". He was also quoted as calling the UFC "barbaric and disgusting". What does that statement tell you? Hopefully, we're on the same page.
@@superstrangevideo ure on here on every comment bashing Benny. what he do to you?
😑 What ever this guy says I DON'T belive
Benny the jet would mop the floor with that man
Yeh i don't trust what the gracie say anymore heard a lot of contradicting stories and they come across arrogant. I believe benny would of flattened them all he was that good.
Another Gracie lie!!!!!
🤣🤣 really funy guy and his stories
Benny would win easily
Benny should have gotten the recognition Bruce the movie star got, while Bruce was making movies Benny was fighting in Asia and the world ,Bruce never fought anyone people ,Chuck Norris was a champ but just in scoring ,
Ha ha ha ha that's awesome
My Sensei "the jet"would of won...period!!!it's a way of life-Ukidokan Karate ... .. .
Post the vhs of this
That seems consistent with the majority of versions I've heard. What I'd like to know though is what was the rule set? No way in this universe did Rorion agree to fight without wanting special rules.
He literally explaimed the rules. By "special rules" you mean no rules like UFC 1, which Rorion invented?
@@ScorpionSuerte No, not at all.
UFC 1 actually had several rules, all you have to do is read about the fighter's meeting the day before the event to know that (kickers not allowed to wear shin-guards, guys not allowed to tape up their hands unless the tape was an inch below the knuckle, wrestlers not being allowed to wear their wrestling shoes).
Every time a Gracie has fought, with the possible exception of Renzo, they've asked for special rules.
You do know that what Rorion says in his own clips might not actually really be the 100% truth of the situation at the time, right?
But I'm guessing you have footage or a print interview with Benny, where he explains the rules and they are word-for-word what Rorion has said here, otherwise how would you be so confident in going on Gracie's word?
@@JamesMMcCann Escorpion is a fanboy, maybe has a crush on one of these fellas, who knows.
He's here just spamming cope on most comments that don't agree with his narrative. Blatantly ignoring when the gracies have lost or abused steroids and got caught.
Also if these stories happened, why didn't someone roll out a camera like they did when storming those dojos.
Bottom line is that the Gracies calculated whether they had an easy mark or not and proceeded to us it to con the world into buying into their insane claims that BJJ is some kind of perfect martial art. Then they all get whooped in Japan by a japanese professional wrestler, Sakuraba embarrassed them so badly that they needed to roid in order to survive a phoney decision in 2007. Go watch that fight, Kazushi loses by decision, but he definitely mopped the floor with Royce.
Luckily we have all the fights recorded leading up to that fight to prove that Sakuraba obliterated them all, single-handedly.
@@IXSuperRadGamerXI Sakuraba did something special in his fights with the Gracies. They either roided or had to wait until he was well past his prime to get victories over him.
Gracie Family history has been re-written several times to fit their most-recent narrative each time.
There's a book out by a BJJ black belt who did a lot of research that shows Maeda didn't even teach them, it was one of his students.

Sakuraba is the only sheriff in town
Martial arts are all different. Just like egos. lol It's the person that makes it what it is.
Benny was in the real blood sport in China in the early 80s an won
These short vid are great for those of us who have always been interested in how the art started in the US.
It would be if the family wasn’t cheating doing drugs to win fights
They wouldn’t be where they are now if the family wasn’t pulling strings during the first ufc
Look at the statistics they only wanted to win one competition
They competed less and less as time went on because they kept losing
They had to abuse steroids to get a decision on Sakuraba in 2007. Which, by the way, Royce clearly should have lost that fight by decision. The other 4 fights Kazushi simply made it look like child's play and beat them to a pulp.
I do believe what Rorion tells here because we all have seen his challenge fights. Not only that, but also 'The Jet' could make a video reply for this vlog if this guy tells B.S.
Name of the channel is Viking Samurai. He talks to Benny about it. I believe Benny, he was known for taking on anyone that challenged him, in any rule set. Thats actually why he has a couple losses (he was DQd for illegal moves such as judo throws). The Gracies were known for only fighting under their specified rules and were known for changing the rules at the last moment. Check it out.
Exactly! what's stopping Benny the braggart from responding to the story, which is well known now, even on Wiki, but not using Benny's name?

Here it is how many years later and you're telling the story that's only purpose is to make Benny the jet look like he backed down or was defeated by you and your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu there's no question as you said Jiu-Jitsu is good you're just another man but I wonder are you a man if you're only intent is to make someone look lesser than or challenge someone who's proven themselves over and over and then over and over again and all that without even trying to prove himself of course he fought hard if I'm wrong I apologize here but then again I'm not going public with this I'm just asking you what gives you the right to be so disrespectful because once you wrap yourself around somebody with your ghee they can't get away I have absolutely no experience in martial arts personally undoubtedly I am a huge fan but I'm not so sure that without jiu-jitsu you could take me I'm certain you could that's an exaggeration to punctuate my point to you sir all that being said I'm a huge fan of the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu system I wished I would have gotten into it when I was younger and today I wish I had the heart to do it
The Gracie's invented a great martial art. However, they have no humility.
They DID NOT invent jujitsu. They brought awareness to the US, but they didn’t invent it!
They invented nothing, they modified an already watered down martial art
I don't know about you guys, but Rorion is real character. I could listen to him all day. I think out of all of them I'd wanna study under him.. He is a master teacher and communicator.
