She's our best chance in seeing the tories fall flat on their faces and kicked out, because even her own government wants her out, and she's been barely 3 months as the new PM by now
@@hayleyxyz @Hayley I'd heard it said that Labour would have preferred Sunak because he had an existing economic record to attack. So it is quite helpful of Truss to quickly provide an even worse one to go for.
They started at fallen
when were they not useless? they have bankrupted the country several times now. then they blame who comes in next for the mess.
What was even more crazy about this PMQs was her reliance on the assertion they'd taken action on energy prices. Not only does the mortgage increase wipe out any saving that families needed, and also directly threaten their homes, not just the temperature of them, but it also completely ignores the fact the market instability was caused by a lack of explaining how the budget was going to be paid for past borrowing when the option was on the table to use a windfall tax. They steadfastly refused against all logic to do so instead promising sweeping tax cuts and spends, all driven by borrowing, all unexplained because they sidestepped the procedures for vetting and oversight. This is more than amateur, it's more than incompentant, it's willfull, entitled arrogance and self delusion. The sooner she and her cabinet, indeed her party, are gone from power the absolute better for the UK.
100%CORRECT
I’m afraid we’ll need the Tories in power until one of the other parties reaches some form of maturity.
@@jonjames7328 The other parties have been way more mature than the Tories for a long time
They can't understand why you're not grateful, especially as that mini budget probably cut your Defined Contribution Pension fund value by 50% as well.
Agreed! We have had more than enough!!!
But the money they borrowed to help us pay our energy bill went straight to the enegry companies who were already in massive amounts of profit anyway.
Another massive transference of wealth from the public to the private sector....again.
It's still borrowed money that has to be paid back.
The penny dropped!! Never believe a Tory when their lips move because you just know they're messing with the working class and feeding the fat cat's!!!
Exactly. Any sane PM, HAD to implement energy price mitigation, otherwise, put out the lights and close the door on the UK. The energy companies still get their excess profits from the consumers whatever.way it is paid.
Totally OBSCENE whatever you kook at it
The worst part about this (analogy) is that the Porsche was actually free (windfall tax) but she insisted on paying for 2 supercars instead of none, and the whole enterprise will force us to sell our mortgaged mansion at time of rampant inflation and destroy our credit rating, so we'll be homeless and bankrupt from now on.
If you borrow money to help pay energy bills because the enrgy companies are charging excessive amounts, but you don't tax their profits, aren't the taxpayers paying twice. Once with their bills and again when the government raise taxes to pay the loan.
I totally agree I have tried to say the same but you said it better thank you.
That's entirely the Tory's plan. Make a massive hole in public finances and force the next government, clearly Labour, to raise taxes to fill the hole, then blame them for being the "tax party", and then win the following elections.
They’re not necessarily raising taxes they’re just going to collect them for decades to pay off this debt and the spiralling interest. How anyone could vote Tory I don’t know

Not disagreeing with anything you are saying at all (its all ridiculous), but I seem to remember that the energy support package was unveiled before the "mini-budget" - which surely makes it even more ridiculous to link the two,

The money “to help support energy bills” is it not giving tax payers money to energy companies to maintain profits? Asking for friends 😉
Also the energy companies need to pay back those loans over the next 10 years, so our bills will remain artificially high even when the market settled down to pay off the loan. Whereas if we paid for the energy freeze through windfall taxes on energy producers, energy bills could be frozen and there wouldn't be much if anything for the general taxpayer to pay back once the situation returned to normal.
