I once said Boris Johnson will go down in history as the worst prime minister this country has ever had, How wrong was I?
He wasn't even the worst in September
And I would have agreed with you at the time, believing the Tories were already scraping the barrel, without knowing that the barrel still had stinking rotten nooks and crannies they hadn't yet explored.
Compared to Truss, Boris will go down as one of the best.
@@majortwang2396 😁 thanks for this!
@@goldmanking7468 No. He really won't...
this is what The Economist wrote a couple of days ago “Ms Truss entered Downing Street on 6 September. She blew up her own government with a package of unfunded tax cuts and energy-price guarantees on 23 September.Take away the 10 days of mourning after the death of the Queen, and she had seven days in control. That is the shelf-life of a lettuce.” 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha, thanks for relaying that!
Frankly, I think the country would be better off with an out of date lettuce in charge !
Ha! The Lettuce Lady is rather less impressive sounding than the Iron Lady I bet she admires.
No it isn't, it was before Brexit but I challenge you to find a lettuce that's got 7 days shelf-life ahead of it on my local supermarket shelves.

Such mind boggling ineptitude of monumental proportions.

Well, I think that Liz Truss is doing a great job and the country should be thankful for having such a strong leader to guide us through these troubled economic waters. And when I am released from the excellent NHS mental hospital, I am thinking about standing as a Tory MP.

That was so cute! Stay strong!

I'm watching from afar and Truss reminds me of one of those coppers on The Bill. Slightly dimwitted and doesn't really have her eye on the job. Actually that's defaming a whole bunch of fictional characters. They were actually way more competent.
Remember when most of us called Boris the worst PM in history?
I cannot believe Truss managed to knock it out of the park in the span of 3 months...

3 weeks
And actually less than that considering the Queen died and the country was at a standstill for 2 of those weeks.
Boris , come back ...
It took her a week

That eviction line from Andrew was brilliant
The Government telling that the financial problems are within the BoE's remit is like telling the fire department that they are responsible for ensuring a house doesn't catch on fire when they've left the stove on ...

This is playground economics. Toddlers doing what the grown-up people should be dealing with... Will we all lose our pensions??
Pensions? No, they will be slowly eaten away by hungry Tories...
We will know who has stolen them. Their lives won’t be worth living.
Marr is correct, there are substantial energy savings to be made in most households and a simple government information advert would be common sense. I went around every electrical appliance in my house and switched them on and off and checked their usage while on standby and when in use. The biggest standby parasite was my microwave which I used to leave on 24/7. It used 4p an hour on standby! It may not seem much but left on all year now costs a staggering £350, ON STANDBY! I have a fluorescent light that uses 10p an hour that I used to switch on when it got dark and leave on all evening, I changed to led lights and they barely register. So I leave them off when not in use and I'm saving £40 a month as a result. The government should do a nuts and bolts testing of standby costs and put out a public info advert. It would save the population tens of millions a year.
The current government are more likely to spread misinformation than facts if their track record is anything to go by...
Thanks for the microwave info. Turned my big TV off at the power point and never turn it on any more.
If you’re not using it….switch it off
The microwave can't be using 4p an hour on standby. That would equate to 120 W. It would be red hot! There is an error here.
Goodbye Truss.
At least she told the truth about being genuinely unclear!

@@Paul-ok4sp no wonder Britain is pretty much third world at this point the population is certainly the right colour.
The problem with saving energy as a way to save money is that the price will always rise. If private companies see less use and hence less profit they will have to increase prices to maintain shareholder payouts. Its an obvious vicious circle.
That not
How economics work.
That’s why I’m using as much as I am and refusing to pay. I haven’t got the money so what can they do? If they throw me in jail I get free rent, food and heating and electricity, I’ll save a fortune.

It was clear before her appointment and altogether now in plain sight Liz Truss is just out of her depth. No need to wait to see if things will improve. They will not. Liz Truss will not even realise there is a problem.

So basically Conservatives blaming the Bank of England for their problems now, when will the stand up and at least say sorry for their utter incompetence rather than blaming anyone else ... The BoE can't really do much to protect the economy when the government doesn't consult with economic experts about the effects of their planned economic policy.
Economics is as much about demonstrating a logical philosophy and understanding the psychology of actors in the system as it is managing numbers.
Even if all the numbers make sense (which I doubt in this case) it's all a moot point if you fail to present the plan in a comprehensive and reassuring manner.
Suddenly dropping ideologically radical plans on the system with no consultation is the exact opposite.
It's all about confidence. Really, it's a business plan but for the country at large. Obviously, Truss didn't bother to learn all that at Cambridge for her BA in Economics or whatever it was.

Andrew Marr has really improved since he left the BBC
I think more free to say what he thinks now.
Everyone improves when they leave the BBC from a journalistic perspective. It’s a straitjacket on talent under the guise of “impartiality” which is actually “don’t make the government look bad”.
Penny's sitting in the back thinking "Is it my turn yet?"
She had jumped on her bandwagon too and was promoting her at Liz Truss’s hustings. I think you can’t really leave a major decision of choosing a PM with 0.5% of the population of a country. Now that 99.5% of people will suffer.
The only way to reduce the damages done by her is either she resigns or sack her, the sooner the better 🙄
I want to see a Tarantino movie about Andrew Marr, where he secretly let's off steam by anonymously threatening politicians with unspeakable acts of depravity.
“I’d like to play a game, Prime Minister…”

The perfect follow up for Boris Johnson. Everyone has already stopped thinking about that criminal!
Almost like someone planned all of this....🤔
Rumor has that Boris supported Truss leadership campaign over Sunak for this very reason. He hopes he’ll be asked to come back to lead the party.
Andrew Marr is a REAL man and for this reason, all of France adores him
I'd disagree with one point made, that she's in real trouble (tippy). She collects a paycheck regardless if she's helping the country or not.
She's not in as much trouble as Marr was when Noam Chomsky gently explained the facts of his employment to him.
We're all for tax cuts but you need to improve everyone's pay first because the huge number of companies employees having to make their wages up through benefits is a deadly scar on the taxation and welfare system.
It's not as though companies aren't making huge profits, they can certainly afford to increase wages tremendously.

The Real problem here is the quality of MPs from all parties is incredibly poor most have an overinflated opinion of their own ability and importance and are only interested in keeping their snout in the money pit that is parliament.. Having said that you couldn't get much worse than Truss
Just wait half a year...
Been electing grey persons / corporate boot lickers for two decades and this is what we end up with.
This is the same flawed "they're all just as bad as each other" argument. The quality of MPs, from all parties isn't the same. Yeah there is probably plenty of duffers in LAbour, the SNP and the Lib Dems. But at least those 3 didn't actively sideline competent MPs or expel them from the party because they were making the incompent ones look bad.
Just take a look at the quality of Boris Johnson's cabinet, and the quality of Truss'. You're lucky to get some D-listers, and a few C-lister who have managed to keep their heads down.
