I've just watched the press conference. The PM always has a smirk on her face every time she mentions the energy price guarantee. She even smirked as she walked off the stage after taking a few questions and giving non answers.
She must genuinely think that she's doing well and one upping people if she's smirking like that. That's a dangerous sign of how this PM thinks of herself and how she thinks everything is going.

oh come on, the questions are not questions they are just veiled demands to resign and plain criticism. She's only human and she knows journalist questions are just deliberated traps. I think she should be left to do the job at this point so that when the GE comes along people have some actual running reasons to base their decision off, not just some critical sentiment - which is all she has accumulated so far. No record to speak of.

Agree. Timing is critical. They are at their lowest ebb now but if they can linger on for another two years who knows what will be happening geopolitically. If the Ukraine war ends in a peace deal in which Truss can ride on the coat tails of the parties involved, the Tories would get an inevitable bounce in the polls. 6 months to 1 year is now an eternity in politics
Morons. We call them morons. They're beyond saving at this point and no amount of nice words and encouragement (with ample amounts of facts) can change their mind. These people will always vote Tory. Even if that means destroying their own lives and that of their children.

She keeps mentioning the energy price . The whole sale gas price is lower now than this time last year . No wonder she’s smirking she’s promised her pay masters guaranteed high profits for the next two years . While the British pay the price. Eh? The price cap is on the unit cost of energy per kWh. If the market price goes below that the additional cost to the taxpayer would be zero. A year ago electricity was 19p kW h and today 32 p kwh .
For gas it was 4 p kW h and in Oct 2022 10p kW h.
You've got it, and we're supposed to deal for, pay for it.
Lets not forget UKIP and BNP were advised to become members of the Tory party so as to vote Johnson in. They are still members so they just voted Truss in ... as Marr said not a bunch that deals with complicated things well.

I think Unconditional Basic Income for everone rich and poor alike, the opposite of trickle down economics, would encourage growth. Perhaps UBI is the wrong term, but I don't understand why when the UK tax payer bailed out the banks, we didn't all become shareholders in said bank, and therefore recieved dividends when the bank became profitable again. Instead, the government sold the share back to the banks at a loss to the tax payer, placing massive bonuses into bankers pockets.
australia gave everyone 10grand to help them in 2008. we gave it to business. worked out well for us eh? :(

We need some dull and dreary competence after the circus of the last 5 years plus.
This is the classic case of ambition outweighing capability. The problem is that off the top of my head, I cannot identify any MP's, of any political persuasion, who has the ability to be a Government Minister. My only hope is that at the next GE, a coalition government forms, comprised of Greens, Liberal Democrats and Labour and they implement a proportional representation Government as one of their first acts, so that First Past the Post is removed for some time hence.
The sad thing is she based her entire economic plan on the misunderstood writings of someone's book on trickle down economics. She thought he was praising it while he was doing the exact opposite. I forget the authors name, but he's come out and claimed he's mind blown at just how wrong her understanding of his words are.
Andrew Marr said it, "She would have to bring in the clever people...". Of course, Andrew Marr is quite correct, the clever people are not there now.

Let’s keep reminding ourselves that the Conservative Party and it’s members CHOSE her as the prime minister. If they are capable of making such a decision, they cannot be re-elected. Change is needed now even if that change isn’t particularly encouraging itself.
