      I never have and never would vote Tories. To be honest, I don't vote anymore but you can bet I will at the next election and it will be in retaliation.

      And Putin. It is his fault our electricity has risen higher than the gas he supplies. That cost was going up long before any war.
      First it was Covids fault, even though we had a PM who thought it was safe enough to party during lockdowns and now it is Putin's fault even though he doesn't supply electricity in this country. It couldn't possibly be the Governments fault.

The "people" will ultimately do nothing but take whatever abuse is dished out to them, whilst venting on social media....oh and perhaps going on a protest march or two, which also won't change anything. There "might" be a little blip in that this time though, and Labour might win a minority government, but it won't last and the mugs of the land will be back to voting for the Tories again not long afterwards.

      Gaslighting is a psychological cognitive tool to fool a person into believing stuff that isn't true. It's a form of lying.
      The key difference is conventional lying is when you lie to avoid negative consequences that would arise if you told the truth whereas gaslighting is lying to manipulate/fool someone else in order to benefit you.
      Classic example would be to gaslight your parents to change the terms of their will and convince them to bequeath more money to you. You make up lies to benefit you in the long term.
      Throwing shade means displaying disgust at someone.

    I don't agree with Andrew Marr - they could have Rishi in by next week if there was the motivation to do so, the Tories have always been ruthless when they needed to be in the past. I think if Rishi got it and the budget was reversed then the majority of the country would simply be very relieved.

      Er. One problem. Truss would not agree to Rishi stepping in as Chancellor. She'd rather resign, forcing a general election that the Tories would lose. The rules don't allow replacing Truss with another PM. So, either way, the Tories are now totally messed up with a loser as their leader and PM that most British voters (according to the polls) have rejected.

    I am not a Tory (left leaning LibDem) but all you need to do to get a real flavour of how badly they are doing at running the economy is to ask yourself. "what would the papers be saying if this were happening and Labour were in charge right now?" And I think we can all guess what the headlines would be. Even the Guardian would be having a go.
    Things are so bad that even I have been thinking about buying gold before the pound becomes totally worthless. I know that the tories are in hock to the very very rich but as of yet ordinary people are still the ones who vote for MPs.

    Politicians don't work for the people who elect them, but for the people who pay their bills. No doubt when Truss and Kwarteng leave office one day they will be suitably rewarded with consultancies and directorships which will make them eye-wateringly rich. These are the realities of power. When it comes to the next election the corporate press, all owned and managed by people who have personally benefitted from these policies, can be counted on to close ranks around them and protect them and do everything they can to keep them in power, which history shows is quite a lot. The British political system is utterly corrupt at the top, but even when confronted with an extreme example like this, everyone lives in denial.

    Not only is she helping only the rich people but has said she believes that benefits and state pensions should be SCRAPPED too! The woman is insane and has never suffered a days' hardship in her life. Try living with illness and disability dear, then you might know what it's like for many people. As for pensions, scrapping them (as she has stated in the past), would cause massive outrage. People have paid into the tax system and Paid NI contributions for years before they draw their pension; it's NOT a benefit. Many people who haven't a private pension have spent years caring for relatives or been ill themselves. She is REPUGNANT.
