Good to see that people can still make stuff with good intention, accuracy, devotion, respect... care and love for quality and aesthetics.
..In this case the subject is an actual shrine, though that is not just what I see.. I see people working together devotedly, every single one of them and succeeding in making it all work. This in contradiction with the western way of overproduction, lack of any sence of quality or devotion and competing one another.
Such "feats" are becoming rare in the west and it hurts......

+Greta Sbrocco It's rebuilt every 20 years. You'll notice in the aerial shots that there are two sites - one empty with a small roofed structure at the centre which is the site for the next rebuilding. The old temple is demolished and it's timber, which are regarded as sacred, are reused on temples around Japan. The same families have been rebuilding this complex for hundreds of years.

It takes 17 years for it to be completed, 8 years for the planning, and the rest for cutting down the wood and then the demolition, then straight after start to rebuild it in the next spot.

Carpenters and construction workers using white overalls. Freaking white overalls in the lumber mill. Respect. 🎩
