Had an older Toyota truck from the early 80's rear end me recently. His entire front end of his truck totalled. I had a scratch on the bumber and a couple scratches on the wheel hump was a slight dent. The highway patrol was in shock as to the little damage to my car. I told him that's why I drive it often. Rust Wrangler Friend Hello this Car can be saved For sure, never was a fan of those vinyl top cars but you could replace the top roof skin, with new metal i Highly recommend that !! I would try to stay away from that Bondo, or fiberglass, for patching, that roof back together !! You should try to see if you could find a good donor car too cut the top off of that to fix that roof back together properly , because this car is worth it !!

what a beautiful car, america that i loved (not like today with, plastic, computered, misshappen, japanized boxes).--. If you restore this car and want to protect this car and be definitively efficient against rust , you should put grease everywhere. grease is the only thing very efficient against rust. put grease between metal and carpet, inside door, behind metallic bumper, under the vehicle, behind the repairs you can make (everywhere inside the body - hidden erea - instead of using paint), hollow areas (necessarily hidden, so no need to be aesthetic). For rear wings unreachable with a paintbrush, use an extender and pour old oil everywhere each year. Rust almost always comes from the inside and welds. Handyman Experience - 35 years. From france

The cost of restoration would far exceed the value. You are much better off to spend more money on one that needs very little if any work. You can still buy a good driver quality car for 6K. 10 to 12k will buy you a very nice car and 20 to 25k will buy you an exceptional car. In my experience, this one is just too far gone. Vinal tops kill cars, moisture gets trapped between vinal and steel and rusts them out!

Vinyl roofs were the most idiotic feature ever. Who thought that putting the interior on the outside was smart? Especially when coupled with a water absorbing foam pad.
