So basically, your saying you couldn't follow the art of scriving. Dime, character development? Sancia becoming not an asshole? Clefs development into a conscious being? Wtf? You couldn't imagine a world building about a world that wasn't expanded upon ( which wasn't needed) dime. You couldn't handle the "adult language." Like "shit" or " fuck" really?
Geez dude, read the rest. I cried uncontrollably throughout this series. It's so emotionally relatable and the way Bennett writes is heartbreaking and comforting at the same time.
I don't want to say what I think is your issue, to avoid stupid debates over the internet that will go nowhere, but I say to anyone who watches this video; read the books. They are beyond good.
    P.s crasedes is a homie.

I am on your side. There were so many small things about this book that I didn't love. I liked certain things but I just couldn't get into it.
I understood the magic but didn't care about it. I didn't really like the characters, the twists and especially the dialogue. I thought the dialogue was so clunky and bland.
I read The Divine Cities trilogy by Bennett and enjoyed that enough. Book 2 was my favorite by far. But yeah, I probably won't continue this trilogy for now.

I appreciate the warnings about this book. It's been on my shelf for a while now, but I think I will give it a skip.

Maybe give a few other reviews a try to make sure it's truly not for you. Others really liked it! But if I hit on anything that would be a deal breaker for you, then I'm glad I could help!

Read the book. Read the whole series. This guy has no clue what he's talking about and doesn't know what he's missing out on.
