This has been the most educational conversation about the challenges of living in Africa on an economic level. Favorite guest!
30 minutes in and I've found a new hero. Magatte is incredible.
Great interview- I wasn’t aware of Magatte before today but her passion is palpable and wonderful
This was extremely informative, thank you Magatte. I look forward to watching your other interviews.
Michael Benevolence
Absolutely love her and have seen her before. She so smart and has such a good heart. ❤
One of the most amazing interviews. Thank you Magatte, I stand with you!
Thank you, great pod, wonderful guest! ❤
She's a total badass! I loved this interview.
Magette is one of my favorite guests you've had on. Love it
Such a great interview!
I learned so much from this. Great interview!
Wow…..what an informative interview. Really enjoyed this episode.
Excellent conversation.
That story about how much it takes to setup a legal business is crazy. Really puts the people's republic of California, as bad as they are, into perspective. I hope people and leaders in Africa start listening to Magatte because it's a real shame how much opportunity they're not taking advantage of right now.
Great episode
Im an American and I love Africa and I think if they got everything governmentally and economically together it would be a bigger super power than the USA
Good guest!
She's amazing!
YES!
amazing woman
she is amazeballs
I thought this was the Covilyte lady. Don't be scared. Be prepared! 😂
Sharp lady.
Being another Candace Owens would be a supreme compliment in my house.
Gorgeous, strong, and smart.
Thank you! The truth is rare these days.
Doing business in Africa is miserable.
Endless paperwork, huge taxes, on top of bribes and theft.
On top of that, the corruption and short termism goes all the way down. You can't trust anyone to keep to their word.
Also, you go throw massive paperwork processes, and then find out it means nothing and you have to do another massive process.
You see as many dead factories as live ones, in areas with massive unemployment.
How is that different than living here?
🔥
Socialism is Colonialism is perfect
Thrilled (but not terribly surprised) to hear that Magatte and Michael are friends, and that she lives in Austin now. They’re a match made in… um…
I’d love to be a fly on the wall during one of their “smack-talking” sessions.
Magatte is much smarter than I presumed when I started listening. Thanks Micheal and magatte!
Oh dang, did you not see her on Peterson’s podcast last year? She’s sharp as a tack.
@stvbrsn damn, no I must have missed that or forgot. I've kept up with peterson outside of the biblical series. Thank you!
@@stvbrsnAgree
She’s a great example of a “strong, independent woman”. I hate this turn of phrase because of how it’s been used and abused for women of lesser character and mettle, but in my book, someone who brings value to the people around them and their community while showing their worth without debasing or betraying their own values is a great woman and person in general.
Clicked for the “white pill effect”.
Wow she’s beautiful
Interesting perspective and experience. I'm glad I rolled the dice on this one. With this libertarian weirdo it's always a gamble 😉

01:43 🌍 Magatte Wade highlights that leftist ideas imported into Africa post-colonialism have hindered its development more than the drain of natural resources.
03:05 💼 Establishing businesses in Africa, compared to California, posed substantial difficulties, taking years for legal registration and significant capital for basic tasks like opening a bank account.
05:50 💰 The ease of doing business is critical for a nation's prosperity; entrepreneurs need the right environment to create wealth and jobs, influencing a country's economic growth.
06:30 🌐 African liberation movements rejected Western influence post-colonialism, leaning towards Marxist ideologies, ultimately impacting economic policies and development negatively.
09:33 🔄 The roots of Africa's poverty and corruption stem from invisible, restrictive laws and regulations that hinder business operations and perpetuate bureaucratic obstacles, amplifying corruption as a symptom rather than the core issue.
16:31 📝 Bureaucratic hurdles in Africa, from archaic employment laws to inefficient bureaucracies, highlight the barriers faced by entrepreneurs and individuals navigating complex, outdated regulations, stifling economic progress.
20:49 🏥 Magatte Wade discusses a scenario where qualifications and bureaucracy inflate costs and hinder hiring processes, revealing systemic flaws.
22:27 🚗 Wade explains the challenges faced by everyday entrepreneurs due to government intrusion and complex laws, using road regulations in her country as an example.
24:20 🚓 She highlights frequent stops by the police and the arbitrary rules used to extort money, causing delays and financial strain, especially for locals.
27:06 💡 Reducing legal friction for entrepreneurs minimizes room for corruption, fostering economic growth and empowering the middle class to challenge governmental issues.
31:32 💔 Wade criticizes the control powerful entities exert over vulnerable individuals, emphasizing the need for individuals to access opportunities for growth and entrepreneurship.
32:41 🤔 Wade highlights the challenge of accepting internal responsibility for societal issues amidst a cultural tendency to blame external factors like colonialism or other entities.
34:43 🧠 She emphasizes self-reliance and the need to focus on personal agency rather than external blame when facing challenges or adversities.
38:05 🌍 Wade discusses the perception of her political stance, facing misconceptions and attacks, and reflects on the lack of personal agency in those who blame external forces for their struggles.
40:56 🌍 Free markets are integral to understanding history, heritage, and DNA, dispelling misconceptions about socialism and colonialism.
42:51 🌍 The left's historical abandonment of Africa is evident, shifting focus away from free markets when proven effective for global poverty.
43:32 🌍 Traditional allies often fail to support African progress, while ideas like free markets become significant for growth and development.
45:11 🌍 Historical instances like the aftermath of the Civil War and South Africa's apartheid show abrupt abandonment without proper societal restructuring.
48:11 🌍 Botswana's success stems from blending common law and indigenous traditions, showcasing the power of a free-market-oriented approach.
50:17 🌍 Viewing free markets as an economic software and socialism as a flawed alternative offers a pragmatic lens to understand economic success.
52:35 🌍 Foreign aid, often misused or embezzled by officials, perpetuates cultural dependency, violence, and neocolonialism, hindering true economic progress in Africa.- 40:56 🌍 Magatte Wade emphasizes the importance of free markets, asserting that they are part of Africa's traditional heritage and DNA.
41:27 🔄 Wade criticizes the influence of colonialism, socialism, Marxism, and capitalism on African nations, attributing some of these ideologies to colonizers.
43:19 🤝 Wade discusses how traditional allies, often from the left, abandoned Africa when free markets proved to be a solution for global poverty, leaving libertarians as consistent advocates.
44:29 💡 Wade encourages a focus on practical solutions rather than ideological alignment, suggesting that even unsavory allies who support free markets should be acknowledged.
45:26 🌍 Historical examples, such as post-Civil War and post-apartheid situations, illustrate the importance of addressing systemic issues rather than merely achieving political goals.
46:36 🌍 Wade highlights Botswana's success in combining common law with indigenous traditions, promoting economic prosperity through a unique approach.
49:21 🌍 African countries like Botswana, Mauritius, Rwanda, and Zambia, which embrace free markets, outperform others on the World Bank's Doing Business Index, emphasizing the efficacy of this economic model.
51:01 🖥 Wade suggests viewing free markets as a software for economic prosperity, emphasizing its effectiveness compared to ideologies like socialism, which she considers a flawed software.
56:27 💰 Wade critiques the chronic reliance on foreign aid, highlighting its negative consequences, including cultural dependency, violence, and neocolonialism, questioning its overall worth for African nations.
01:01:28 😡 Foreign aid creates dependency and masks real problems, perpetuating issues instead of solving them.
01:02:24 🌍 There are issues with organizations like Oxfam, World Bank; some employees might be well-meaning but might continue working for the paycheck without addressing core problems.
01:02:50 💡 Presenting foreign aid problems straightforwardly can compel people to acknowledge the system's faults and engage in solutions.
01:04:12 🚀 The speaker advocates for a positive, historically backed vision for Africa - the "cheetah generation" - individuals fostering hope, innovation, and progress, regardless of age or location.
Thanks!
man, i didnt hear that george ayittey died. RIP man
10:10 nowadays/ There's no way to know for sure that this guy is locked up for that. 😅😂yuuuup
That cops shaking you down every few miles sounds so much like post soviet Russia. The rich people there bought up all the old Ladas from surrounding countries, because when you drive in an old crappy car, the thugs won't bother you. When you drive in a new western car, it's shakedown after shakedown. Haven't heard from Russia in a decade, but I don't see it having gotten much better.
I don't know who Magatte is. What did she say?
My dad beats me and I love it.
What is the point in this comment?
@@jamusloos2859 Trying to raise awareness.
@@kim-jong-poon I wish it helped in the daily battle with my dad, but so far I have been vanquished each time.
Lmao what the fuck is 'nano-CBD'?
Is that supposed to be her on the cover of her book? 😂
"Candace Owens doesn't even talk about Africa." No she doesn't, she flies to England to attend the coronation of King Charles.
Second!
Your wife will get the second
Early bird gives the worm
I violantly disagree 02:20 I would say the braindrain from africa is worse than the importing of marxisme because you are eliminating all the smart and able people from africa just to work in the west. this way internal solutions and ideas can't be fosterd which is great for growth
damn this nicca can talk
sorry. super boring.
