Is that karat gold or fine? If it's fine gold drop that little bead in a bit of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) for a minute or two to get the borax off. You'll have a very clean and shiny bead.

And as for the borax powder, it looked a little bit too much Sometimes. less is more and more is less.I put a small pinch in the middle of the burn, and just before the end, to temper the gold by a few degrees.So that I can adjust the burner flame and adding a tiny bit more of Borax means you get more gold. May your burn be bright, and your gold be pure 20 karats and upwards.Remember not all gold is pure that's why I said 20 karats,it may have silver, metallic elements, lead,copper,grit, Sand and rusty iron and don't be fooled by that metal.If you find,don't discard it "Pyrite or fool's gold" has a small amounts of gold in it,so crush it, refine it three four times at least you might be surprised by your results also get yourself a gold testing kit, because you determine if there is enough gold in it,to break up these stones. Tried to smelt 10k gold, but it made borax turn green and blue and brown and now it seams the metal has dislaved into the borax I was using a small hho torch it was about 2g of 10k gold what do I do to get the gold out of the borax?
Nothing that you can do now. Probably wasnt even 10k. or maybe was plated. Now you must refining it with chemicals. Difficult and dangerous proces. Dont try it at home if you dont know exactly what to do. Sell it as scrap gold.

Yes it's true, you can lose gold with overheating, but this will be happen when temperature, goes more than 2.000 celsius. When you melting nuggets that they are from different purity, you gives some minutes more to mixed well. This gas gives about 1300 -1400c, so for some minutes its safe. Thanks for your coment.

No, nothing is vaporized. That's the reason that i had, add borax at the beginning. All other elements except gold, gathered in the melted borax. Yes you can, but you need to clean them first from other metals ... like silver, paladium, platinum, copper, or gems that maybe contain, and after that seperate them by the carats, like 10k 14, 18k , 22... etc. This process is costly, * extremely dangerous * because it requires the use of harsh chemicals and equipment , and you must have the knowledge to do. Also you need a very good acetyline torch, with at least 1500 celcius flame, And that is much expensive.
This is just melting gold that's already refined (pure / 24K). The borax just takes out some impurities from the process. You're talking about REFINING it into 24K first - which is a big process (look it up on RUclips). You can melt gold together from jewelry of the same karats, and if you have 24Kt gold then that is 99.99% pure already.

Guys, this is not smelting. This just melting. Smelting is the process to purify any gold to pure gold 24k. In this video it does not change the purity of gold but just put together the pieces of gold by MELTING not smelting. I did same video with wrong title also.

Okay, using a bit of stuff I've learned from other places to fill in the blanks. It would appear that he put some flux into the crucible first, that way the gold wouldn't just get blown out by the torch or soak into the crucible (I don't know what it's made out of, and I doubt it would soak though, but that's just a guess), than he added the gold melted it down to a bead, than after it cooled enough to harden he plopped it into some water to quench it. I agree with a lot of the other comments saying that explanation is needed. I just got myself a crucible like that and a graphite mold, so I'm doing a bit of recherche on it, and this video wasn't very helpful.

Way to much borax you should heat each are of bowl and slowly sprinkle borax into it putting a even layer around the entire area. Let it harden after evenly and THIN coat

Found this: Add two pinches per ounce of clean jewelry scrap and more for dirty scrap. You can use regular baking soda or bicarbonate purchased from the store. When you heat it, it forms sodium carbonate

Can I use propane torch?
yes you can..
I used the normal propane/butane blowtorch but it didn't get hot enough to melt gold or copper. Anyone know why?

@@jeanwyngard3478 get mapp gas. It's available at the hardware store. Comes ina yellow tank. It gets hot enough to melt the gold they say. Still should use a good torch head though. I use 2 that are below average, and I generally end up just giving up and throwing it in my furnace

some say he is still melting the gold

Mam I have black sand which contains gold in powder form how can I recover it.
1)clean it as better as you can ... 2) melt it at 1100 c adding borax as the video above

Way to much borax you should heat each are of bowl and slowly sprinkle borax into it putting a even layer around the entire area.

Found this: Add two pinches per ounce of clean jewelry scrap and more for dirty scrap. You can use regular baking soda or bicarbonate purchased from the store. When you heat it, it forms sodium carbonate
