I think a bit of context for Shawn's comments is necessary because he was legitimately intimidated by Kurt Angle's work rate and wasn't sure if he could keep up. He mentions in his book and DVD that he trained extra hard so as not to disappoint fans and also so that he wouldn't be outclassed by Angle. Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest of all-time and views himself as one of the greatest of all-time, but Kurt Angle was one of the few guys who he felt he had to train extra hard for. I doubt Angle or Conrad are reading this comment, but if they are I would recommend hearing what Michaels had to say about the match and Angle. Sounds to me like his comments are a testament to just how good Michaels thought Angle was in 2005. Also, Angle intentionally or not is an intimidating guy, and for someone who's only interaction with him was basically a dismissal, I can see Michaels having a chip on his shoulder. That's what made both guys so good in my opinion.
Sorry man but this is coming from Kurt Angle's POV having actually spoken with shawn irl. Why on earth would you think internet hearsay from smarks would be a more accurate representation of events
@@AjayPatel-so8zs I'm not going by hearsay by internet "smarks". I'm going by Shawn Michaels' own words in his DVD and/or book. If we're going to listen to Kurt then it's own fair to hear what Shawn had to say a decade ago about the match. Also, Kurt has a habit of stretching the truth a bit just like all wrestlers, but the difference in what he had to say in his RF Video shoot interview a decade ago compared to now is proof in my mind that Kurt is more interested in telling a good story and putting himself over, which shouldn't be surprising.
@@animalcol1 And so has Kurt Angle. The difference is that Shawn's version of the story came out over a decade ago and is very believable in my opinion. He said he was intimidated by Angle's work rate and ability, and trained for him more than any other opponent. Angle also adds to the story by saying that he didn't even know Shawn was so good just a short time before this, which I can see Shawn taking exception to.
Kurt and Shawn had a weird timeline prior to this. Like Shawn was the biggest star in the WWE for years and right when he left, Kurt Angle became a big star for years. And then for 3 years, they were doing their own thing on 2 separate shows. (Kurt on SD, HBK on RAW) I kinda get why HBK said that to Kurt cause it's two of the greatest in the business that never seen eye-to-eye before that Wrestlemania.
If MMA was where it is now during his prime I have no doubt Kurt would have destroyed. I think he mentioned something like that in one interview that he would have done MMA if it was more known and profitable back then. I might be remembering it wrong but at one point Kurt and Brock had a live freestyle wrestling match in a back room. Kurt scored a takedown on him at some point which honestly says a lot. Can you imagine trying to takedown a prime Brock Lesnar who's doing his best to stop you? But oh well, instead we get one of the best heels and spectacular athletes of all time. Still my favourite match of all time “the wrestlemania match” and I’ve been a HBK fan since his rocker days but this was the one opponent I thought could out perform him.
@Andres Garza well it seems that pro wrestling is way harder on the body than MMA competition is because most guys only fight a few times a year whereas wrestlers work 250+ days per year.
Both as intense as each other training wise I’d say ufc and wrestling both 365 days a year you are constantly training I’d say angle would have been a machine at any sport he really put his mind too he was a phenomenal Olympian wrestler and professional wrestler and is a down to earth cool dude! Shaun on the other hand I have conflicting opinions on that dudes character although granted he was a great pro wrestler.
This is the first video clip I've watched since Kurt's podcast began, and I gotta admit, he looks great here compared to some of his last WWE run. His face looks slimmer, he just looks less bloated/ballooned in general. Was he on prednisone, or maybe drinking a lot or something?
@@immortallegacy100 you do know Shaun has had, eh, challenges with the truth before, right?
@@animalcol1 And so has Kurt Angle. The difference is that Shawn's version of the story came out over a decade ago and is very believable in my opinion. He said he was intimidated by Angle's work rate and ability, and trained for him more than any other opponent. Angle also adds to the story by saying that he didn't even know Shawn was so good just a short time before this, which I can see Shawn taking exception to.
That makes way more sense than people thinking Shawn wanted to literally fight him. People in the comments don't think rationally
Kurt would have stretched Shawn like a pretzel. There’s no way Shawn would have been able to take angle if things turned into a shoot.
He was trying to fire kurt up, so the match could be more intense. I agree in a real fight shawn is screwed.
His mic skills were just as awesome! "I won a gold medal... WITH BROKEN FREAKIN NECK!"
@@Tupacisking306 he's a dumbass for doing that. If he really got Kurt riled up, Kurt would have made light work of Shawn, and I would bet my bottom dollar that Shawn would go crying to Vince, and Kurt would have been punished 😂
@@corybennett8861 Everything you said is accurate with the exception of calling HBK a dumbass...HBK has seen and been through more then 95% of regular people and Kurt is by no means a regular person but that dosen't mean HBK has to fear him
@@DXOWNSNWO I appreciate your opinion and support of HBK, and I didn't mean to slander him at all by any means, as he is my all time favorite wrestler, and the greatest performer of all time in my humble opinion. However after finding out what a jerk he was in his earlier years, that is what I meant by calling him a dumbass. I understand he is not the same person he used to be, but we both know that he would politic big time if he had to back in the day.
I’ve always loved their WM match. It became 5star when he Angle Slammed HBK into the Ringpost
i'm only realizing now that you have your own show Kurt....this awesome!
omg totally forgot about this WM 21 movie commercials. They were all amazing!
Still my favourite match of all time “the wrestlemania match” and I’ve been a HBK fan since his rocker days but this was the one opponent I thought could out perform him.
As far as WWE/WWF is concerned, kurt at most can clean the boots of Shawn Michaels..
shawn is way bigger name
Everyone knows this deep inside..
Literally had no idea kurt had a podcast, literally just subscribed 💯👍🏾
Kurt would have killed Shawn then and now.
For sure. But Kurt would have done that to a lot of guys. He was a legit bad ass.
@@Armando316 100%. Best Olympic wrestler in the world, super strong and endurance for miles. He would have been awesome in the UFC.
Killed
This is the first video clip I've watched since Kurt's podcast began, and I gotta admit, he looks great here compared to some of his last WWE run.
His face looks slimmer, he just looks less bloated/ballooned in general. Was he on prednisone, or maybe drinking a lot or something?
Either way, he's looking great, and I can see that intensity in his eyes. Good stuff.
Kurt always looks in great shape.
I enjoyed Kurt' s run with the intercontinental and European titles
Shawn says,' lm not scared of you" and Kurts reply "that only proves you're stupid".
ok how can I see this commercial....anyone got a link
What did cornette say about Michaels? He’s like 0 and 100 when it comes to shoot fights. Angle would Pretzel him and make him say, ‘Angle’.
He's 0 and life in fights 😂

One of the best mania matches of all time. It’s at the very least top 3.
The Kurt angle shawn michaels match is my all time favourite match
I was stoned out of my head when I first heard this episode. I have never laughed as hard in my life as when Angle went "OK.... ''
A few times people have told me they were not afraid of me. I had a few different replies.
1) Who you trying to convince me or you?
2) Good you may last longer
3) It doesn't matter, the results are always the same
4) The same thing happens if you step into a lion's cage not being afraid

@@MiniatureMasterClass yeah that's right in your case but it wouldn't be correct for me
So I know Kurt had a new show and can’t believe Conrad is doing it with him, dudes the man
Kurt Angle was the last truly great wrestler and the final legend from the Attitude Era.
Conrad you really need to get your health in check man, we enjoy this content and want to keep you around!
I love you Kurt, from one PA boy to the next!
Shawn Michaels, who's 0-146 in fights including verses his smile, wanted to tell Kurt Angle he wasn't scared of him. That's cute.
Thought the same damn thing 🤣
Hey at least he ain’t scared.
Including versus his smile JFC
"If it goes down, then it goes down"
Was Shawn Michaels asking for an ass beating on camera? We all know of shawn's history of legit fights! 🤣
Anybody but Shamrock back in the day would be in the same situation. He taught Lesnar that a College Athlete isn't comparable to an Olympic Athlete - & Kurt was likely high AF to boot.

I think HBK just was trying to get Angle prepped up for their match. He even has admitted himself that Kurt Angle was the first wrestlers whose skills intimidated him a little bit.
Kurt could've probably ripped his arms off! He's an olympic freakin gold medalist in wrestling!
Reading the title I literally laughed out loud
Angle in my top 3 all time (next to Rock and Austin)
Ultimate Warrior, Kurt Angle, Christopher Daniels
my top 3 all time are HBK(goat), Undertaker, Angle
Conrad has created a podcast empire.
It wouldn’t surprise me if someone wound Shawn up when it came to Kurt possibly shooting on him
Nash and Hunter
Should of tested him on the spot. He is lucky Kurt didn’t eliminate Shawns smile. Success to this channel!!
Got to respect our Olympic Hero! Stepped into the ring against them all. Unlike scsa who weasels his way out matches with Hogan, Goldberg, Lesnar using his neck as an excuse. Then squashes Spike Dudley, Santino and stuns old folks with the same neck.
Win or lose always a great match with Kurt Angle. Can dish it out and take it as well. True top tier performer who’s legacy as one of the Greats is cemented.
Love the channel you guys gotta fix the video endings.
For me the angle v Michaels matches were some of the best wrestling I’ve ever seen
Kurt vs Shawn is one of my favorites.
I would have loved to have seen Kurt's face when Shawn told him that 😂
OMG the "sexy kurt" song he made in Smackdown with Sensational Sherri R.I.P.
I'll never forget it.
I was laughing out of his talent & him pulling it of with Sherri. & then once Angle attacked her. ..
Sherri's scream, drama, tears, sell etc....made me go back to hating Angle again. 🤣😂🤣
But more like "Aww why you gotta do that Angle....I was Rooting for you until now" 🤣😂🤣😂
Only reason I think Shawn said that was because maybe he thought it was gonna turn into a shoot? I didn't like Shawn back then but have tons of respect for him now that I've smartened up to what he did.
i love how when hbk left in april of 98 the wwe took off when he came back in summer of 2002 after austin left i stoped liking the wwe
It's not a coincidence. He and his buddies were heels who pissed off the audience and wouldn't put anyone else over so they just made the product frustrating.
As did most of the world.
They edited out the part where Conrad mentioned Daniel Puder and Kurt got defensive. "Uh, wha...wha...why... what... what does Daniel Puder have anything to do with it I'm just curious..." lol
WTF I was wanting to see Kurts face when he said that to see if it sounded worse than what it was. I guess it was as bad as it sounded or they wouldn't have edited it out.
Yeah, Kurt still in his feelings about that.
@@D2Kprime idk why he didn't exactly see it coming because the rules to this were about pinning the other guy. It wasn't exactly a mma match or even a submission grappling contest it was a weird shoot, and the goal was supposedly to pin the other guy not tap them.

I love Kurt. really do, but the Puder thing was inexcusable on Kurt's part and Puder had him. plain and simple.
Puder got the shaft. Vince was clearly gonna pick a side. he did. if I had to choose one of the two to back up
I probably would've gone with Kurt. not because Puder was in the wrong, but who have I spent the most time

@@chrismorgan8330 That wasn't the point at all. The point was to try and prove that those kids were not "Tough Enough" to handle the pro-wrestling ring. They thought that putting a legitimate-shooter out there (Kurt Angle) that he could make them look bad. Well, it backfired because Daniel Puder was a legitimate Mixed Martial-Artist and while he may not have know much or anything about the style of pro-wrestling, he certainly wasn't a punk and he proved that.
The whole idea was just brick-stupid. You had the Big Show out there throwing working-chops that no one was selling. One guy was even laughing.
When he would hit the Angle Slam with swag and pop right up!!!
The only reason angle is relevant, is because Shawn put him over at Mania 21…
And gave him a classic at Vengeance.. wakeup
