No it was more than that you have to look at the whole context, Batista was complaining about being in smackdown since he was drafted over and he was being cocky saying he was the best thing on smackdown and he was mainly responsible for higher ratings smackdown was getting.

It's disrespectful. Batista was basically saying nobody was good enough to face him on smackdown. That's just not okay and as a rookie in wrestling I can tell you this isn't that uncommon. When newer guys start thinking they're the top shit the veterans will put them in their place, it isn't often physical but sometimes people will lash out when someone who's been wrestling 10+ years longer tells them to have some respect for the people they are going to be working with
You can tell angle is at the point in his life where he just doesn't want to make anyone mad and live his life

I live near booker and have had many conversations with him at the gym. He said no won he got hit in the eye and Batista got a few body shots and it was broken up quickly. He said people blow it out of proportion.

That’s what I’ve always heard. Shit happens. Shows how good the company’s kayfabe and entertainment was back then. Looking at booker t getting powerbombed and power slammed by a 285lb muscle freak you wouldn’t think that behind the scenes he’s an actual badass. I even heard big show say once that he wouldn’t mess with booker or that if he got into an altercation it probably wouldn’t have ended well for him

Even if he’s in a street fight, all Angle has to do is wait for the other person to throw an off balance haymaker, he’d shoot on the off balance leg and turn him into a pretzel. Actual wrestlers aren’t going to outright win many fist fights, but the smart ones aren’t going to lose very many either.
The difference is fans know a fight on the practice field is real. In sports entertainment, who knows what’s real, what isn’t, what’s a work, what’s planned, what’s planned but went too far, etc.
HEY! I was there as a stand in/extra for that commercial. It took 2 days. 1 day was mostly Smackdown people, the next was mostly Raw people.
They tried to cover up all of Batista’s “bumps” with make up but it was WAY too obvious. His eye was bad and he had all kinds of bruising going on around his neck and face. Don’t know if it was from Booker or Sharmell (she was kicking him in the face as Book/Tista rolled on the ground, while screaming “don’t you dare touch my husband!”)
It was a great weekend/beginning of the week 😁

@@raisehell1996 Not from what I remember. He seemed fine. The whites in his eyes were red, but as if he was just super intense like someone would be during a hard workout. You wouldn’t have known he was in a fight. But once Batista came out to the HUGE backyard (it was all filmed in a mansion), he was noticeably caked with make up that still couldn’t hide his fresh wounds on his face and neck.

@@terryo3512 yeah, a lot of people thought that. I was with another group of independent wrestlers. Since we were training at UPW, we got the shot to go. It was 5 of us. News leaked out from one of the guys with us, but him being a bit of a kiss ass & “soft in the head” I guess no one believed him.
Booker T stood up for smackdown. That is crazy.
He didn’t stand up for himself when everyone below came up to be wwe champ and he didn’t. The 5 time WCW meant nothing.

Gregory Helms says he saw blood, although he didn't see the actual fight, but Booker T wasn't bleeding. In the stories where people seem to recount details that make Batista look better, they don't mention that Batista was bleeding, but will mention that Booker T had a black eye or that Batista was on top when the fight was broken up (which, if you've seen enough fights you know that doesn't mean anything).
Why is that? Their stories can't be more true than Booker's. Idk why they wouldn't tell the truth but it doesn't add up.

Damn Smackdown 2006 definitely wasn’t as strong as Raw in 2006. Kurt, Rey, Booker and Batista were the only champions that year. I don’t even remember who Batista was in a feud with before Undertaker in 2007.

The closest Booker got to the main event picture in 2005 was when he fought in the 5 man match for what was promoted as being for the Smackdown championship when of course we know now there was no smackdown title and it just to setup JBL vs Batista. Beyond that, Booker had his weird rivalry with Angle and fought got the US title mostly in 05
