I think it's funny that you made the "Sonic 4 Anyone?" joke, because when I was a kid, my dad put a Sega Genesis emulator on our family computer and had 100s of ROMs on it. One of them was titled "Sonic the Hedgehog 4" when in actuality, it was the Sonic Crackers prototype. Of course I was a stupid kid back then, and I actually though this incomplete demo was Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

You can emulator because it's pretty much the only way to play the game. I have an emulator for kirby super star ultra but I have the right because I lost both of my actual copies
RandomCottenRange Zone emulators are in fact not illegal at all. Downloading ROMs or ISOs is illegal. Ripping ROMs and ISOs from cartridges and disks that you already own and putting them on your computer to play through the emulator is also *not* illegal. The only thing that's illegal is getting ROMs and ISOs from the internet without paying the publisher or devs (Like buying a game from steam)
I'm so pleased to see somebody acknowledge the existence of this game. It's one of the best Sonic series games and, tragically, the only classic Sonic game that has never been rereleased. And it's one of the more expensive 32X games.
The reason Wechnia uses Mighty's palette is because Tails usually uses Sonic's palette. I found this out by looking at Sonic's palette in Sonic 2 and it's safe to assume that every other game has Tails using Sonic's palette. I"m also 99.9% certain that the palette Sonic and Tails in Sonic 3&K is the same as Sonic 2. (The unused intro cutscene for Sonic 3 further backs this up)
Why? It's actually a rather $#!+ game. Considering 3D Sonic is worse than 2D Sonic I think a remake in modern times would be extra awful. If they're going to put time and money into a classic style game it would be much better for them to make something new that we haven't played before, just with a classic feel and look and definitely no overbearing gimmicks.
the reason why wegenia(?) uses knuckles' sprite and mighties' colour pallet is because when the game is given a sprite that it has no memory of, it uses the next best thing. It uses knuckles' sprite because it uses weighted averages to find out which sprite between knuckles and mighty(the two closest characters to wegenia on the player select screen, therefore the two closest ones code-wise) to use, because knuckles' side has more characters on it, knuckles' sprite was used, and therefore mighties' color pallet was used so that wegenia didn't look like a glitchy knuckles.
