Thanks for both of your videos! Only 2 days till I’m fully dived into the apple ecosystem with this 13 pro and the series 7. Last iPhone I had was the 3GS.
Haven’t had one since SE, and this felt like a real upgrade, to me personally. Faster, options seem better and brighter. Had a 3 before that, and I can agree, this felt like a upgrade worthy of doing.
I’ve had the same theory you have about a lot of their products these past couple of years. It feels like the iPhone 12 and 13 were originally designed to be the same phone but got split up (remember how smaller notch and ProMotion were rumored for the 12 then “got dropped” a couple of months before launch?) The iPad mini should’ve come out with the iPad Air last year. iOS 14 and 15 were supposed to be the same update (why did iPad get Home Screen widgets an entire year later? And why did they change the Home Screen grid for iPadOS 14 only to change it again in iPadOS 15 so they can fit the widgets in?) It all just feels weird, like they looked at the pandemic, realized it would derail their plans, and decided to split their 2020 stuff into two parts so they’d have something in 2021, then use the stuff that was originally meant for 2021 in 2022 while they got back on track.
I would honestly say this is a pretty good upgrade from the 6, the 8 will probably be much more impressive but a bigger screen and faster charging is pretty much all they could’ve added other than a faster chip. Still wish they had upgraded the s7 from the s6 but it’s still a great watch.
Personally the series 4 is still good enough for me, I’m gonna wait for another year. I feel like there hasn’t been an upgrade as big as the series 4 ever since the Apple Watch came out
It is already known why we did not get a redesign. Suppliers could not manage to fit everything in the new form factor on time. There are many reports about this.
I disagreed about it not helping sleep. I got a series 6 about 5 months ago and the sleep tracking really motivates me to sleep more, it kinda gamifies it

Oh man I felt that sleep thing. There was an app I was using to track it previously. Even when I did sleep "enough" I slept like trash and having it be quantified in an app just felt depressing.
I feel like nobody is talking about the brighter always on display. I own an older wear os smartwatch and while it has an AOD, it's not bright enough to just glace at the time when I'm outdoors. A readable AOD makes the smartwatch way better at being a watch, which is more important than a bigger screen imo.
Coming from smartwatches that last for 7-14 days on a charge (with moderate to heavy use)... I just can't go back to charging every day. Not to mention battery degradation of charging every day. Until Apple can make a watch last longer than 2-3 days on a charge, it's not even a consideration for me anymore. That's just my 2 cents, I know some folks make due with 18 hr battery life.
The sleep function is actually one of the things thats helped me the most. I get the notification and i know if i keep fucking around im not going to hit my sleep goal of 7 hours. It urges me to just put down whatever im doing and get in bed. Having the notification that says i hit my sleep goal is a little badge of honor i get for the day if i do hit it lol
I’m not sold by the refracted display. Most of the time you won’t be able to see clearly what’s along the perimeter because the curvature reflects light from all around you. You end up tilting the watch here and there just to shift away the white lines of light that get onto the sides. It’s inevitable that future watches will get a flat display. Till then, I continue to rock series 1.
Covid changed the use case for the watch, just like everything else. Discrete notifications in a meeting or even taking the stairs and walking more to meet “step goals” changed. Even WEARING a watch became unnecessary because I wasn’t going anywhere. The blood oxygen sensor was helpful though, especially as an early Covid monitor.
honestly the battery life on the Apple Watches truly baffles me. I have a Fitbit Versa 3 and that charge can last (depending on how much exercise I do) around 5 days. On top of that, the watch only takes maybe 30 minutes to charge from dead to 100%. And it's a fully featured smart watch, sleep tracking, exercise tracking, heartrate monitoring, payment app. Hopefully with Google's acquisition of Fitbit these qualities will be found on the upcoming Pixel Watch (or whatever they call it)
To all the people saying you need to sleep more, you might actually be fine on 4-5 hours a night. There’s a rare condition that allows some people to sleep very little with no ill effects.
@@madsisak well there are things you can do to improve your sleep. Get exposed to sunlight, dont look at your phone 1-2 hours prior to sleep and use candle light or get blue light blockers. Also eating some good carbs with your last meal will improve your sleep too. Meditationa and stretching will also help. Lastly make sure you sleep in a dark room and consider taking some melatonine.
@@yigitkulahl1562 I take melatonin, live in Spain (loads of sun), work out and eat oatmeal at 20.00, use blue light filters. Listen to meditative "go to sleep stuff" believe me, it's not that. Hehe, got tinnitus in the army. Fucked up my sleep ever since, if I get 5 hours I wake up like 6-7 times during those hours. Ya learn to live with it
I tweaked some of the display and notification settings on my series 6 to get more battery life out of it. Getting a whole day along with sleep on one charge was a challenge. The display seems to be the biggest draw. I can get 2 days out of my watch if I put it in cinema mode, but I didn't like to have to tap the face to get the time so I compromised. I turned off "raise to wake" and let "always on" turned on. That along with turning off most of the notifications allows me to get a day and a half if I want to. I give a full charge around lunchtime when I am in the shower, then I charge it before I go to bed. We all have to find a routine that works.
Where was this video when I needed it after buying my SE and giving it to my sister and I found out, for me, its a want and not a need but I want to again to that I could just wait for Series 7 instead of being in this situation 😂. Great video though! Keep up the great work!
For me the fitness tracking on the iwatch is hands down the simplest and easiest tracker on the market. I have friends with Apple watches and love them. Personally the biggest issues I have with the the watches is comfort, and design. I much rather use the thinner smaller while working out and sleeping and use a traditional smart watch during my day to day/ Event use. Side note: I thought that design going around for the Apple watch was a Amazfit Apple watch clone watch?
That watch face probably WAS created just for the series 7 watch...but it's a pretty dang cool face - something apple has been just so-so at producing (IMO) since it's introduction. Some faces are better than others, but you simply do not have the creativity you can find with 3rd party apps like Facer or what you can find with the Samsung Tizen watches. But it is definitely a step in the right direction. Kudos. That face is really pretty cool. I just wish you could add a few complications to it, as well...perhaps on a future update...?
Can you please do a Samsung Watch 4 review? It's one of the best android smart watches out right now and I've loved it for the last two months. I am curious how you would look at it.
Series 5 used a repackaged S4 chip, so no, this isn’t the first time it’s happened in an Apple Watch and it likely won’t be the last. Apple is probably entering a tick tock cycle of upgrading processor speed every other year. This pattern also means the unchanged processor speed isn’t evidence that the released Series 7 was a backup plan. iMO upgrades are just getting more incremental as the product matures, just like with iPhone.

The charging thing sold me! I bought one used on eBay and love that fast charge thing. It’s nice to not worry about dead battery constantly during the day. Once again the best review out there. Thank you!!
I bought the Apple Watch Series 27 in 2034, loving it so far. The 3D mini holographic projector is so vivid and lifelike, and you basically don't have to charge it for 5 years straight.
Doesn’t mean a thing. You can see his bran or other things internally. Same could be said for people that kills themselves suddenly even though they seem “fine”.
I don’t mind they build that watch face just for show. Actually I would use design instead of build. Because it doesn’t take much effort to do that. Not like they invested huge money and resources on some random thing. It is a nice touch that doesn’t require much cost.
Obviously everyone is different but I’ll say this Once u use an Apple Watch , u will realize how often ur phone isn’t with u or isn’t a good time to take it out But yes it’s one of those once u use it u will appreciate it but ur life won’t change 1000% dramatically It’s kinda like those car feature where you can open trunks with ur feet. It’s great to have this and make it so easy. But no u will adjust it back when u don’t have that feature
YES! well said. everyone else is missing the point. The apple watch doesn't have a proper sized battery for what it does. 'change the way you use the watch because it charges faster'? who's in charge here? the watch or the user?
Series 7 Apple watch is not worth the upgrade. The "more durable" screen is more impact resistant but less scratch resistant than the series 3. I returned the one I got for Christmas because I scratched mine within 2 minutes while I was reaching under a shelf of a glass media stand. It touched the powdered surface on the bottom the the glass and that was enough to scratch the display. Maybe the sapphire display would be better, but the price is much higher and these devices go out of date relatively fast.

Oh man I felt that sleep thing. There was an app I was using to track it previously. Even when I did sleep "enough" I slept like trash and having it be quantified in an app just felt depressing.
I have the series 3 stainless steel and it has held up really good I am going to upgrade to the 7
The timing between the uploads make me feel like there is gonna be something epic in the comment section 😂
Those are fitness trackers, not smartwatches, tbf
Dave doing some serious calculations 1:12 😂
Again another honest review
Finally you added captions in this video after a long time. Thank you
Instead of fast charge, we need more battery time
i like the way u explain everything for basically everyone, keep it up
I have this series 7 watch face on my series 3 😉
How?
the intro was enough to smash the like button
The intro never gets old man😂
Sneed
I am with Apple watch series 3 and don't see a reason to upgrade.... Nothing so much better and wow to do it.
I had the SE before the 7 and I honestly love the AOD. It’s awesome just looking at it quickly.
Day 9 of asking Dave to make an intro of zoro getting lost and ending up in his intro…
That would be a great intro XD.
But does he watch one piece tho??
now I’m gonna wait with you
that would be funny
WTF
I'm joining you. next video, I'm asking as well. Imagine if this gains traction
honestly the battery life on the Apple Watches truly baffles me. Hopefully with Google's acquisition of Fitbit these qualities will be found on the upcoming Pixel Watch (or whatever they call it)
Marques woke up and chose fitness that one day
Use electrical wireless energy transfer. Run conforming coils that don't bend and break through the bands. Premium light show is possible.
To all the people saying you need to sleep more, you might actually be fine on 4-5 hours a night. There’s a rare condition that allows some people to sleep very little with no ill effects.
I do 4-5 hours and every 10th day I catch up with 10-12 hours of sleep. Works fine.
well yes but less than 0.01% of population have that condition so still a bad idea to sleep 4-5 hours
@@yigitkulahl1562 it's not by choice :p. I envy ppl who can sleep 6-8 hours a day.
Ya learn to live with it
always so calm. love watching your videos
Blah blah blah
Blah blah blah
3:03-Really expected you to mention FlickType being *Sherlocked*
I’m shocked somebody managed to find 9 minutes worth of new things to talk about
Get a drink every time Dave mentions "screen".....
I'm still rocking the Series 3 and don't really feel a big need to upgrade, well done apple!
You’re kidding lol the S3 is a dinosaur.
@@PrinceLX yeah but it doesn’t feel slow yet so if I can wait off for a while it will feel like a massive jump forward.
Can you please do a Samsung Watch 4 review? It's one of the best android smart watches out right now and I've loved it for the last two months. I am curious how you would look at it.
Kid: Dad, I thought you were going to get better at my video game!
Dave: I gotta fill those rings!!!
Still using my series0 aple watch.. still thinking to buy a new one. Nice review vid 👍
No yeah you are very right. The same thing happened with the series 5
Correctly predicted the flat edge watch coming this year(on the ultra). I just wish the S8 also had a flat screen.

Sticking with my series 4 Apple Watch
Apple should make a teeny tiny apple pencil for the apple watch. 😂
You don't know sleep properly that means.
The charging thing sold me! I bought one used on eBay and love that fast charge thing. It’s nice to not worry about dead battery constantly during the day. Once again the best review out there. Thank you!!
Plot twist....
Apple next year: *It’s rOUndEr than Series 7*
actually rectangular
... and it now charges 37.6 times faster
I felt you Dave! When you said ‘I got to feel these rings’ 😂
This happens with me all the times 😂
I bought the Apple Watch Series 27 in 2034, loving it so far. The 3D mini holographic projector is so vivid and lifelike, and you basically don't have to charge it for 5 years straight.
Does it have boxy edges yet?
😂 is covid still around 🤣.
Apple Pencil support on Apple Watch series 8. Can’t wait!
Apple stole the keyboard from a developper ( it was available on older watches ) and banned his app from the store ..... :(
He probably sold it to Apple
how do you steal a keyboard? Pretty sure other smatwatches had them already.
Still using a series 3. Apple watch iterations seem so small that I don’t have an incentive to upgrade right now
Why isn't he getting more subs? He's a great guy who makes great content
Worth waiting for the next SE?
It's wild dave looks so young on 5 hours of sleep
Doesn’t mean a thing. You can see his bran or other things internally. Same could be said for people that kills themselves suddenly even though they seem “fine”.
I don’t mind they build that watch face just for show. Actually I would use design instead of build. Because it doesn’t take much effort to do that. Not like they invested huge money and resources on some random thing. It is a nice touch that doesn’t require much cost.
These smartwatches are such a hard sell for me, when you have your phone all the time with you. Fitness band is more than enough IMO...
Obviously everyone is different but I’ll say this
Once u use an Apple Watch , u will realize how often ur phone isn’t with u or isn’t a good time to take it out
But yes it’s one of those once u use it u will appreciate it but ur life won’t change 1000% dramatically
It’s kinda like those car feature where you can open trunks with ur feet. It’s great to have this and make it so easy. But no u will adjust it back when u don’t have that feature
If fitness is your main priority , I think you should go for a dedicated fitness watch! Cheaper, rugged, and battery should last a week
YES! well said. everyone else is missing the point. The apple watch doesn't have a proper sized battery for what it does. 'change the way you use the watch because it charges faster'? who's in charge here? the watch or the user?
Just imagine if Apple came out with a new iPhone, and they didn't update its SOC? People would lose their minds... 🤣
They just did 😅
Series 7 Apple watch is not worth the upgrade.
I feel fortunate to live in a time where such cool technology is available at a reasonable price.
i think i’m gonna stick with my series 4 at least for another year
They really merked that keyboard app because otherwise there really wasn’t a reason to get this.
Thank you for bringing the desk back!
They limit watchfaces to the latest model? Wow wtf will never buy this crap with a 18h battery.
Only the new ones and Apple Watches are the best watches on the market so shut up kid
I get a day and a half, and I sleep track
@dave, i see that the table is back. RUclips cant be done without it as it seems

I seriously cant convince myself in paying for another identical watch.
Then don't, you really don't need to
@@smallpablo9204 lol i mean thats what i said bro. I wanna see soke radical changes but its apple so i dont really expect anything more than copy and pasting. The 12 was a nice change
Definitely not upgrading from my S6, looking forward to the S8 next year.
A billion-dollar company sells you an overpriced watch that lets you compare yourself to others and build up peer pressure.
A trillion dollar company that advocates a healthy lifestyle and encourages others to join you.
@@M4R5-C4V14R you don't need a watch for that
great video as usual. Liked the size comparison on the displays.
Apple in the event: we made a watch face to show the screen on series 7
Dave: I’m pretty sure it’s a tech demo
💀💀💀
Otherwise amazing video as always
Never owned an Apple Watch. Was interested in getting one. I don’t even own ear pods yet. I heard they are coming out with a gen 3 soon of those. But I do own a 13 pro max. Upgraded from 8 plus.
How is the screen for the watch. Do I need a screen protector for it as well? I know I work with my hands a lot so I wouldn’t really want to wear a watch to work and is it worth it just for the weekends?
Decisions decisions lol
