- Taking a tip from the great Julius Boros@TheForgottenGolfer shows you how to SMASH the ball without trying to swing as hard as you can. When you’re in your personal “slot” your swing will kick in with whatever swing speed you’re looking for, weather it’s a 3/4 swing, or a full rip shot. How many times have you just swung easily and the ball just flew off your club almost effortlessly? So you know that Julius Boros was speaking the truth.

Good point. This is why using a half swing for me at 71 - using my legs and not my arms for power - gives me all the power and accuracy I need. And, with a half swing (take the club back to just above parallel and turn the shoulders with it, and pause before exploding with the legs) I remove unnecessary variables. The farther back I take my club, the higher I take my hands, now I have to figure out how to get them back to square - these are variables I don't need. Thanks for reminding me to keep it simple.
Never forgotten and much appreciated keep them coming!!!! 🙂
Thank You!
Yes, and to prove your point Julius Boros actually wrote a book, " Swing Easy Hit Hard." I enjoyed your video.
Interesting. I always thought Mr. Boros had a somewhat hidden element in his swing....that being his technique of keeping the handle facing back towards him until somewhat late in the backswing. He is not the only one who did this, be his was definitely refined.
Nice
Good stuff!
Thank you!
Thanks.
You got it!
Excellent Description ,Sir !!!
Thank you very much!

When we think hit hard, we usually end up firing the hips too much, too early etc. then our coordination is all out of whack, and our upper body just does whatever it can to make any kind of contact at all resulting in who knows what shape or direction of shot. If we swing easy, think hit about 80% of our might, we apply a lot of power but under control. Not always dead perfect, but our margin of error reduces a lot. And sometimes it is dead perfect.
Yes sir!
Pretty damm good advice!
Thank you!
Great video. The problem is 99% of us amateurs have that dreaded “hit syndrome” . Some - most never beat it
I’ve been golfing 56 years and I myself still deal with it from time to time-especially in windy conditions
no idea what the point was . where is the kick it in?
The point is once your club drops into your on plane “slot”, you can release the club head through the ball as hard as you want.
Tempo , Timing and Swing Plane that’s all we need , Correct Tony ? Thanks for your help .
Glad to help-thank you for watching!
Have to tamp down the ego a bit to do this at first.. results matter though🙂. Really enjoying your content. Thanks.
You’re right, but I’m sure you’ve more than once you’ve swung easily and hit it forever. You just have to trust it. Start at the range.
Yep, I know exactly what you mean! But it's very easy to forget this during a round of golf. I have to remind myself audibly on every shot, SLOW everything down, think 1/2 shot....then BOOM, there she goes! Your conscious mind is fighting your physical instincts. That's a skill that is not discussed enough from golf teachers...it needs to be preached and preached.
Very well said. And yes, I have to remind myself of it on the days I get out of sync.
What I understand from your video : if we keep in mind to swing nice and smooth, we will accelerate into the ball ANYWAY, and perfectly at the right time. Correct ?
Yes if that is your intention. So it’s a full swing. And actually sometimes I’m trying to only hit a 3/4 shot and I’m so smooth I just nail it by accident and overshoot my target.
@@TheForgottenGolfer It happens to me very often
Excellent video. Like you said you don't have to think kill right from the start. The only thing that will get you is an over the top swing or as I call it the distance killer. Doing it your way makes more sense. I will definitely try this. Besides why not try something new if what you were doing doesn't work? There was a pretty smart guy that told us why. His name Albert Einstein. Like he said, " Stupid is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result." Boy was he ever right. Thanks for your tip.
Thank you for writing. Trying not to kill is a difficult one. It’s like instinct--to hit it hard you have to swing hard. But actually letting your hands and arms just move freely ( on swing plane) through the hitting area does a better job in the end. Especially during the senior years.
Your on the money but feel the club head
What was that flinch at the end
I was born with Cerebral Palsy so I have less flexibility and sometimes my stiffness gets in my way. It didn’t bother me of course when I was younger. But I’m 66 now.
@@TheForgottenGolfer no way I would have never guessed. keep up the good work!!
Been playing for 52 years swinging as hard as I can and as fast as I can and have yet to break 90. Younger brother has played 50 years and is a scratch golfer at 65 years old. He told me I choose the wrong sport……should have been a nascar driver.
Went out to the 1st tee after a lunch in the clubhouse, was feeling a bit heavy...thought, "Nice, easy swing - just get it out there"
Hips started the turn than Boom 🎉 - one of the longest drives I ever hit 🎯
Wonderful!
Fantastic lesson thank you. Like finding a lucky charm in a cereal packet 🏌️♂️⛳️
Thank You!
Lucas Glover is the perfect example of this swing! Tiny tiny back swing and then speed through! 🐊🏌⛳️🦅🇺🇸
Good to see a matured golfer explaining the swing...😊 Definite is food for thought. Like to mention stop thinking during the swing and rely on your subconscious just that why visualisation is key telling your subconscious your fligth and target.
