All the teams that tried to match the Shaq and Kobe Lakers rosters with big men never pulled it off. Then they were destroyed by abteam with a 6' 9" center who couldn't score, and everyone ditched their big man plans. The Lakers front office have the right idea, but Luke can't fulfill the vision.

If they fire Walton I hope the Bulls axe Fred and get this man in our team. They're really trying to scapegoat this man like two of his main guys didn't just have to sit for half the young season plus his starting PG had no offseason because he was injured. Leave this man alone or let him slide to the Bulls please and thanks!

The current Lebron is toxic material to any team that he is with, building the team around him is WRONG to start off with. Magic should take a leaf from the Warriors, learn how KD was seamlessly and effectively melded into the Warrior's team culture. The emphasis that Lebron be the centre of focus puts all other team mates in a total disarray. Watch out for the other teams like Raptors, Bucks, Jazz & Celtics, their concerted team plays are paying dividends on court while the Lakers are still figuring out their identity. Lebron should just get off his high horse and begin to understand today's NBA is more of teamwork and not the great but tiring solo-act that win rings.

This season wasn’t supposed to be a championship season til guys like Stephen A and Shannon Sharpe started claiming Western finals. You don’t grab these past their prime vets on one year deals thinking this year is the year. These guys would get swept by Golden State even if Phil Jackson was coaching.

Magic failed as a coach of the Lakers, he also failed as a talk show host, and he also failed acquiring another star with Lebron to form a championship team. But this Lakers were rebuilding anyway and had a nice nucleus of young players then Lebron comes halting the young players developments until how many years Lebron will be there. In other words Magic built an awkward team currently thats neither a championship team or a rebuilding team. Seems to me Magic is the problem and not Luke.

Lebron makes entire franchises better - the man has gone to 8 straight Finals. He facilitates the offense and has become an increasingly better closer in the post season. The simple fact is that he's faced better teams in the finals than the squads he's played on. You couldn't exchange a single player in the league and have the same level of success that Lebron has had with the squads he's played on.
At this point in his career, his Achilles heel has become his lack of defensive effort. He's an all-time great and honestly it was kinda foolish of the Lakers to believe that a player going into his 16th season was going to have the wire to wire energy needed to turn this team into instant contenders.
Stop comparing him to Jordan & Kobe, he's never been that, he's a pass first forward not a shoot first 2 guard. He's a more athletic Magic Johnson who's never had a Kareem, or a Pat Riley level head coach. This team needs to find its identity, and that's going to take lineup and schematic changes. When it starts clicking, It's going to be funny to watch these skeptics and cynics change their tune.

This is Luke's 3rd season with L.A.. First 2 seasons under 500 ball. 3rd season under 500 ball. Luke Walton left Golden State, and most highly coveted assistant coaching position in basketball. After filling in for an ailing Steve Kerr, Golden State ran off a run of 25 straight wins and Walton thought he was ready for prime time. No he wasn't. Ego and Hubris directed him to bail on the perfect coaching situation for glory that will never come for him in L.A. Bill Walton told his son not to jump ship because he knew that experiences like Golden State come along once in a lifetime. Did he listen? No. He should have never left Golden State until the run was over and until he learned everything that he could from Steve Kerr and that experience. But ego won the day..........and ego never wins. No way that Walton was going to be able to coach Lebron. That's a story for another day.

    lebron needs his assistant coach.
Perhaps they will even take Tyronn Lue because he was his assistant coach and he already knows who the boss is.
LAL will create a bunch of ads such as "returning of the prodigal son who has 2 rings with LAL before as a player".
But in fact, no one remembers his game as a player in LA, we know him as “that guy Iverson stepped over in the finals,” and after those finals, Tyronn left the city.

This roster doesn't favor what Luke wants to try to do. He unfortunately is a prisoner of his GSW experience, and doesn't have the actual coaching skill to adjust to his talent. Magic and Polinka have a vision that conflicts with his ability. Mark Jackson would be a better fit for this roster, and he wasn't a great fit for his GSW roster, because he was more traditional. They need a coach who won't try to mimic Golden State, and play to the strengths of the players they actually have.
