I just built the tbolt 88cc big bore with race head and cam. The also included there heavy duty clutch. It slips when kicking it and is engaging at idle unless you depress shifter. I disassembled the clutch and everything looked good and readjusted. Same thing slips when kicking . To start it I have to kick it very slowly past compression. Do I have a defective clutch or do I go to a manual clutch ???

I would ride it. The clutch is grabby at idle and will settle down. Give it some hours of ride time and then readjust to see if you can find a compromise of kicking vs idle grabbing. Also make sure you are using JASO ma, aka wet clutch oil.

Thank you. I haven’t ridden it yet,I’m waiting on a twist throttle.
And I’ll change the oil to wet clutch compatible. Do you recommend a specific one?

@@jordanstark-leathersmithct221 non synthetic, Honda gn4, shell rotella t4, Valvoline motorcycle oil. Key is jaso ma rating. Change often too

Thank you. I changed to wet clutch oil and breaking it in/tuning. My jetting is 40 pilot 90 main needle up one from center position. Starts easy. Good throttle response but breaks up at wot. Low and midrange are good. But top speed is 31mph with 15x37 gearing. Also plug is black . I dropped down to 89 main and it ran worse . P.s. it’s a Sheng wey 20mm carb. What do you think

Any suggestion on buying a replacement stock top end?
I see Beatrice Cycle sells cylinders ... but not heads.
I'm rescuing a total rust bucket and I am not sure the valve seats are salvageable.

I have a solution - Buy a used good head or castings I'm going to get a hold of. Just had a conversation with a supplier out of Europe. They are making the correct large dome replacement cylinder heads for the vintage honda 50/70s. My website gives my contact info - VintageHondaMinis.com
